Perry & Betsy
Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile and consider us as potential parents. We are looking forward to growing our family and will provide all the love, devotion, and support that any child or parent could ask for. We have so much love to share and we thank you for considering us. We know that you have tough decisions to make and we applaud your strength.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
One of our favorite places to go is the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey. Betsy grew up going to the beach, but this is a fairly new experience for Perry, who grew up in Wisconsin.
Betsy's dad and stepmom have a house in Ocean City, so we are fortunate to be able to go there often. We love to go out to breakfast, walk on the boardwalk, surf the waves with Betsy's nephews, and get ice cream on the boardwalk. Ocean City has rides on the boardwalk and we love to ride the ferris wheel. We also like to take our bikes and ride around the island. Sometimes we go to the beach in the off-season. It's fun to walk on the beach all bundled up in the winter.
Ocean City is definitely one of our favorite vacation spots and we are glad to live not too far away. We can't wait to experience it with a child!
What It Means to Become Parents
What it means to be a parent is to raise a child with unconditional love and to nurture them to grow to be the best version of themselves. Being a parent means providing structure and routines in a warm and caring environment. We believe that children need to know they are safe and loved. As parents, we will provide the support a child needs to learn and grow and make healthy choices.
We look forward to bonding with our future child and creating our own family traditions. We look forward to watching them grow and learn. We look forward to setting routines, like reading books together at bedtime. We also look forward to helping them explore the world, whether it's traveling to visit family, going to our favorite beach, or exploring a new city.
We have so much love to give and we are excited to share that love with our future child.
Education We Will Provide
Betsy is a teacher, so education is very important to both of us! In fact, there are a lot of educators in Betsy's family. One of the reasons we chose our neighborhood is because it is in a great school district. Betsy went to school in the district we live in, so she knows firsthand how great it is. Books are also very important to us and we plan to read to our child right from the start. Betsy already has a collection of great picture books from her teacher experiences that we can share with our child. We both think that instilling a love of reading and learning is one of the best things we can do for our child. We also think it's important to learn from experiences. School learning is important, but we also think there is a lot to learn from traveling and experiencing new places.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in Pennsylvania in the suburbs of Philadelphia. We love the area we live in because we are close to so much- major cities, museums, great parks, the beach, and great school districts. Philadelphia is a great city to live near. We especially love the Philadelphia Zoo!
We recently bought our townhouse and were fortunate to buy a brand new house. It was fun picking out different elements of the house. Betsy especially loves our open kitchen with lots of counter space. Even though we are in a townhouse, it feels very spacious. We have three bedrooms and a large basement we hope to turn into a playroom someday.
We picked our neighborhood because it is close to where Betsy grew up and it's in a great school district. Our community has lots of families with kids, as well as couples who are retired and wanted to downsize. It's a diverse neighborhood. Since our neighborhood is new, there have been lots of activities to help people get to know each other. We have a social committee that plans picnics, Halloween parades, egg hunts at Easter, and even a bake off. We also love that we have a walking path nearby and the township has plans to build a new park right by us.
Our Extended Families
Family is very important to both of us! We are both the oldest in our families. Betsy is the oldest of three and has two younger brothers. Perry has one younger sister.
Betsy's family lives close by and we spend a lot of time with them. We enjoy having family dinner and celebrating birthdays and holidays together. Betsy's parents are both remarried, and both sets of parents are very supportive. We were fortunate to take a family trip to Disney recently! We traveled with Betsy's brother, Bill, and his family, Betsy's mom and stepdad, and her dad and stepmom. We like doing escape rooms with Betsy's siblings and their spouses and we get quite competitive! We are also blessed to have Betsy's maternal grandparents living nearby.
Perry's family is mostly in Wisconsin and we visit them a few times a year. His parents live in a small town in Wisconsin. Some of Perry's extended family work on dairy farms. He comes from a large extended family with 25 grandchildren on his mother's side! We usually visit around the holidays and also in the summer when it's warmer. We always try and see as many aunts, uncles, and cousins as we can while we're visiting. His paternal grandmother and her husband spend the summers in Wisconsin and the winters in Texas. We make a point to visit them in the summertime. It's nice to visit and spend some extended time with Perry's parents, and his sister and her husband.
From Us to You
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and for considering us as parents for your child. We can't imagine how difficult of a decision this must be for you. We promise to provide your child with a safe, nurturing, stable, and caring home.
We have been married for a little over two years. We knew we wanted to start a family right away. Unfortunately we were unable to conceive a biological child, even after multiple fertility treatments. At first this was difficult to accept, but we knew that starting a family was important to both of us and we began to look into adoption. A friend of Betsy's has adopted two girls and she shared with us what an amazing experience it was. Perry spoke with a childhood friend that adopted, who also shared what a positive experience adoption was for their family. After a lot of thoughtful consideration and prayers, we decided to pursue adoption to build our family. We are looking forward to the joy and love that we will all experience through adoption.
We realize that you have a difficult decision ahead of you and admire your courage and strength. We hope that learning more about us will give you peace of mind as you consider adoption for your child. If you would like to talk with us or video chat to learn more about us, that is something that we would welcome during our journey together.
Education is something that is very important to both of us and will be a priority for our future child. Betsy is a teacher and loves reading. Betsy has four nephews and has been reading to each of them since they were born, and they all love books. There are many educators in our family who will also encourage a love of learning. Even though Perry is not a teacher, he understands how important education is. We also want to encourage our future child's interests and endeavors outside of school, whether it be on the soccer field, in dance class, playing the guitar, creating a new app, or taking art classes. We want our future child to reach their full potential as a productive, responsible, and caring citizen in our community.
Family is also a priority for both of us. Betsy's family lives fairly close by. We spend a lot of time with them, especially her brother and his family. We love going to our nephew's basketball games, celebrating birthdays, and having dinner together. We are fortunate to have taken vacations together to the beach, to the lake, and even a big family trip to Disney. Perry is originally from Wisconsin, and most of his family lives there. We enjoy visiting them a few times during the year: over the holidays and usually during the summer when it's not so cold! Both our families know how much we want to be parents and are excited to have another child in the family. They have been very supportive of us during this journey.
We will share with you your child's growth and experiences through photos, letters, and emails. We promise to be open and honest with him or her in regards to adoption. It will be an important part of our story as a family. We will make sure we have books available and seek our resources to support your child when they have questions. We will also make sure that they know how much you love them and how hard this decision was for you.
Thank you for considering us as potential parents for your child. We have so much love to share and we are excited to grow our family. We look forward to providing all the love, support, and devotion that any child could ask for. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you make your decision and are guided through this journey.
