Why We Chose Adoption

We Can't Wait to Become Parents!

Our road to parenthood has been a difficult one, with many twist and turns. After five years of not conceiving, we were faced with a decision about our future. Deciding we wanted to have a family, we explored many different options and educated ourselves as best we could. Although there are other paths we could have chosen, we both felt drawn to adoption and believe it is the way we are meant to grow our family.

We admire the fact that adoption brings strangers together — the birth parents, who are facing a decision about the child they are bringing in to the world; and a couple who want to be parents, yet having children seems out of reach. The idea that they all come together and find comfort in each other is something that we want to be a part of. The more we learned about adoption, the more we became emotionally attached to the pure love that comes from it. We both have extended family members who have chosen adoption for their children and we have grown to admire their selfless act. We are ready to make a difference in a child's life and are so excited for the things we get to learn and experience along the way.

Our Leisure Time

Miles Getting Ready to Tune the Car

We like to spend our leisure time very differently. Miles is a big gamer and loves to play video games in his downtime. If you don't find him there, you will most likely find him in the garage working on his favorite car.

AJ prefers to read to unwind. She also enjoys spending time in the kitchen.

Relaxing at Home

When we spend leisure time together you will probably find us catching up on a series on Netflix or tuning in to a new movie. Miles is a history buff, if he is watching TV he's probably watching the latest documentary. AJ is the advocate for sports, if it is football season you'll find the TV tuned into any game that is playing.

When we have time away from home we like to spend our times at museums or outdoors at car shows and racing events. Our city also hosts the state fair and we enjoy going to the exhibits and shows when we can.

How We Met

We ended up meeting each other through a mutual friend. We were simply acquaintances for a long time, then found that we had many friends in common. We ended up working at the same job for a few months and that was when we started to get to know each other. You always hear that opposites attract, that statement is the staple of our relationship! We had a real connection on an intellectual level and we fell into conversation with ease and it made getting to know each other fun. Because we are so different from each other, we had really well-rounded conversations because we never seem to have the same point of view on a lot of subjects. To this day, we still learn so much from each other because we continue to look at things differently.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We have a two-bedroom home with a family room in both the main level and the basement. We spend most of our time in the family room. Whether it is reading books, playing video games, or eating meals it is where we are most comfortable (and it has the comfiest furniture!)

We live in a very diverse community. We have everything from young families to retired couples nearby. Our home is located blocks away from the elementary, middle, and high schools, which means kids are always nearby. There are also plenty of playgrounds and parks within driving distance of our home.

A local museum captures the history of Nebraska with replication of life in 1880. It's an entire town frozen in time!

Our city has also become culturally diverse in the last ten years. Our downtown area is thriving and supports local festivals and events that highlights these cultures and helps educate the public. With the city growing quickly, many new restaurants, retail stores, and other businesses are being brought to the area often.

Our Extended Families

Miles' Mom, Grandma & Aunt

We are close to our families and often spend time together.

Miles is an only child. His mother lives close by and is a librarian at the local library. She cannot wait to take her future grandchildren to story time!

AJ's Family

AJ's parents live just one hour away. AJ's father works at a local hog farm and her mother now works for the nursing home in their community. As a child, AJ's mother did in-home daycare for many of the neighborhood children. AJ's parents are from a small community and are excited to share that with their grandchildren. AJ's sister lives a few hours away with her husband and two sons. AJ's sister works for the school district while her husband is a firefighter/EMT.

When we are with our families, our time always revolves around food and conversation. As our immediate family continues to grow, we are excited to start our own traditions with our parents and children. Miles' mother is very excited to have her first grandchild to spoil and spend time with. AJ's parents are already wonderful grandparents to our nephews and cannot wait to have more grandchildren to spend their time with.

From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to consider us for your child. We cannot imagine how difficult this time is for you but want you to know that we would provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home for your child. We admire your strength and hope you find peace with your decision.

We have been married for eight years and have been together for ten years. We have been trying to start a family from the time we got married. We were faced with the struggle of not being able to conceive. It took some time for us to accept that we would have to grow our family a different way. We spent a lot of time carefully weighing our options of starting a family and decided on adoption because it was not only an opportunity to start a family but also an opportunity to be there for someone in need.

We want you to know that whatever led you here, you are not alone and we support you. We hope that reading about us will give you some peace of mind as you consider adoption for your child. If you'd wish to meet with us to learn more about us, it is something we would be happy to do.

We are very excited for the future and getting the opportunity to bring a child to our home and expanding our family. Our families are very supportive of our decision to adopt. They are excited to welcome another child to the family. Our families are involved with our lives and they will be spending lots of valuable time with the child. We look forward to not only passing on some of our childhood traditions to a child but also creating our own traditions.

We hope to encourage a child to be who they are and to embrace what they believe. We believe in teaching by setting an example for a child. Instilling in them the value of a good work ethic and being respectful is important to us as our parents raised us to believe the same. We hope to give a child the freedom to explore many interests so they find something they love while we help them grow to reach their full potentials. With a great public school system and many community organizations and events we feel this is a great place to raise a child.

We hope to share with you your child's experiences through photos and letters or emails if you desire. We want to include their adoption in their upbringing and be honest with them. We want to make sure we instill your strength in them and make sure they know how much you love them. From where we stand, your selfless decision will always be one that we respect and continue to appreciate in our home.

We again thank you for considering us and hope that this letter helps you in any way. As we continue our journey to start a family we hope that you find peace in your own journey. We would be delighted and honored to provide a healthy, stable home for your child. We wish you well.
