Our Adventures

Visiting the Colosseum in Rome

We love to take on new adventures, such as starting our family. One of Matt’s favorite activities is to plan vacations. He always seems to be scheming for the best prices and the best deals. Together, we have traveled to multiple different countries in Europe, where we have traveled by car, train, and boat from one country to another. Some of our favorite activities throughout Europe has been experiencing the deep history, arts, and culture rooted in every city, AND of course eating all the different cuisine!

When we are not traveling all over Europe, we tend to relax on a cruise ship, waking up in a different country for a new adventure.

While starting our family is going to be our next great adventure, we cannot wait to experience the world through a child’s eyes in new and unexpected ways.

Our Leisure Time

At an NHL Game

In our leisure time, we love to spend time together. This leisure time at home is generally watching our TV shows together, which can be anything from the latest popular show to Chopped.

When in season, we like to attend the local colleges football, baseball, or hockey games. We also like to travel to see our favorite professional sports teams. While traveling to these different places, we like to enjoy the different cultural opportunities that differ from our city.

In our city, we are lucky enough to have the Broadway Across America series, which we attend each month.

Amanda also coaches and sponsors different activities as school, which she considers leisure activities by getting to know her students in a different setting. Amanda also really likes to bake. She grew up baking over the summer with her mom. She also loved the opportunity visit both grandparents to learn to bake without a recipe. Amanda is also an avid reader and always has a book near by, something she looks forward to sharing with a child.

When Matt is not planning travel, he likes to watch sports and talk sports. He is excited to share his love of sports with children. He likes to play video games for down time. Matt is also an avid reader, he prefers to read autobiographies, about history, and fictional novels.

Type of Education We Will Provide

We live on the outskirts of a large city in the Midwest. Our city has many strong public school districts to choose from.

The school district we live in, also happens to be the district Amanda works in as a teacher. This district is well-known for strong school community relationships, personalized educational programs, and excelling student achievement.

With Amanda being a teacher, we understand education and the drive to succeed start in the home at a young age. This home education starts with reading books together, going to library programs and the other nature and history museum experiences we have in our town.

Once children go to school, they also need the strong support system at home for a successful school career. Amanda being a teacher also allows education to continue during the summer months, in more than just the general school subjects, but other opportunities available outside the classroom. Amanda looks forward to sharing the many different opportunities available throughout the summer months with a child. Our city has multiple summer activities and clubs available for families, some of these activities are at our zoo, the children’s museum, library book readings, and a safari park a short drive away. There are also opportunities through the community college and local universities for children in math, science, and art classes. These opportunities are open for children of all ages.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a split-level house with three bedrooms. The main level of our house is where we spend most of our time. This is where the family room and kitchen are located. Amanda loves to be in the kitchen, which is the main focal point of our house.

We live in a new, young neighborhood with children up and down our street. The neighborhood has a summer get together around the fourth of July. Our street is closed off for vehicles and everyone brings out their lawn chairs and yard games.

We have a neighborhood park three blocks away with swings, slides, a picnic area, and tennis and basketball courts. Our neighborhood also has a splash pad with a large water dumping bucket. Both parks are connected with a walking trail through the neighborhood.

We live in a popular school district with elementary, middle and high schools within walking distance of our house.

Our Extended Families

Amanda's Family

We are lucky to have most of our immediate family within a 15-minute drive from our house. Amanda’s brother’s family lives within walking distance and we often walk our dog Rex, over for quick visits. Matt’s family is currently building a house to move back near us also.

Both families are very family oriented. We celebrate holidays, birthday, and other special occasions together.

Matt's Family

We look forward to continuing our tradition of Sunday night dinner with Amanda’s family with a new child added to the mix. When Matt’s family is back, we look forward to the new family traditions we can create with them and our new child. Both of our families are excited to meet this child and start new traditions and adventures together.

Matt’s parents have a timeshare in Florida where Matt enjoyed many fun summer memories with his family growing up. We look forward to creating our own family memories in the same place!

From Us to You

We are so grateful that you have taken the time to get to know us, just a little bit. We cannot even imagine the journey you are on, so we owe you a heartfelt Thank you for considering us. You are in our thoughts and prayers everyday as well as our extended family for the perfect fit for you and your child through this decision.

We have tried for many years to have a biological child. Many difficult situations turned us in the direction of adoption. We knew God had a plan for us and adoption was soon open in both of hearts as the way to build our family. As we shared our decision with our extended family, we were again reaffirmed this was our direction.

We met working at a local grocery store. During our time working together, we established strong communication skills and a great working relationship. This communication has continued into our marriage and helped us navigate the difficult trials which come along in life. Before we started dating, we discussed our desire to travel around the world, experiencing and enjoying different cultures. Matt is an avid travel planner, who always has a trip up his sleeve. We have been able to travel to eight different European countries and many different historical sights. We also love to cruise and have visited most of the Caribbean Islands and multiple Central American countries. We cannot wait to share our love of travel and culture with a child. We also love to travel to our favorite professional sports teams' cities. Each of these places hold fun memories of wins and losses, but also of the “adventures” we always find when we take a wrong turn.

We are not only excited to share our love of travel, culture, adventure and sports with your baby, but all the wonderful experiences we both grew up experiencing. Amanda’s mom stayed at home teaching her a love of picture books, coloring, baking during summer thunderstorms, and a love of all things Disney. Matt’s mom was a relief Veterinarian who taught her sons to love animals and any new adventure. We are both excited to share all of these experiences with your child and build a whole new set of memories. Amanda is a teacher and looks forward to spending summers building these new memories.

We were both given the opportunities to find our passions while growing up. We want your child to have the same opportunities to find their passions and strengths in life. We are also both strong advocates for children to learn through multiple different experiences, not just in the traditional sense. We want a child to have a voice in finding the things they love and to pursue those to the full extent.

We are excited to welcome you and your child into our family in whatever way you are comfortable. Your decision is the reason we create this new relationship and you will always be an important part of all of our lives. We look forward to sharing communication via email with updates, pictures and videos, and all the milestones, big and small. We are open to traveling for visits yearly, when you are ready. We look forward to building a strong relationship to benefit both you and your child throughout both of your lives. We want you to know we will celebrate your decision throughout your child’s life and welcome you to celebrate with you, when the time is right.

From our perspective, you have an unimaginably hard decision to make and you have all our thoughts and prayers through this journey. Your selfless decision will always be evident in our home and our hearts.

Thank you again for taking the time to get to know us a little bit better to help with this decision.

Sincerely,

Matt & Amanda
