Kristen & Stephanie
Thank you so much for considering us and taking the time to learn more about us. For as long as we have known each other, it has been a dream of ours to parent and love a child. We have so much love in our hearts and home to provide to your child, and we cannot wait to grow our family through adoption. We hope you will consider us.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
We are fortunate in that our state hosts both beautiful, sandy beaches and breathtaking, sprawling mountains. While we love visiting the mountains about once a year, our absolute favorite vacation spot is on the beach.
Stephanie's parents have a house on the coast, so we spend a lot of our time there during the summer. The home is a lovely, three bedroom, three and a half bathroom townhouse in a safe community. We enjoy going to the pool, the beach and taking our niece to the splash pads and playgrounds in the neighborhood. Just down the road from the house is a quaint little ice cream shop we love to visit with every flavor of homemade ice cream imaginable.
We envision spending many summers at the beach with our future child, teaching him or her how to swim, looking for sea shells and shark's teeth on the beach, and building sand castles. We know our child will enjoy spending time with us and our extended families at the beach year round.
Our Leisure Time
In general, we try to stay pretty active. On the weekends, we enjoy hiking and walking outdoors. There are several hiking trails close by that we frequently visit, and one nature park with a paved trail where we like to walk the dogs. Weekends are also when we enjoy meeting up with friends and visiting local art, science and history museums, flea markets and new restaurants. We are lucky in that we live very close to the downtown area of our city which hosts events year-round, such as First Fridays where there are arts and crafts to be enjoyed by people of all ages.
During the week, we enjoy cooking dinner together in the evenings. When it's warm, we try to grill out as frequently as possible, and when it's cold, we love preparing slow-cooker meals that keep us warm and toasty inside. After work in the evenings, our time is spent watching Netflix or reality television shows.
We spend a great deal of our free time with friends and family. During the winter, Kristen's parents visit for three months and stay nearby at the beach, so we visit them often and enjoy watching football on Sundays. When we visit friends, we enjoy playing board games like Scrabble and card games like Rummy.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Stephanie About Kristen: I love Kristen's sense of humor. When we first met, I texted a friend and told her that Kristen was the funniest person I had ever known. That statement still rings true to this day. I also admire her ability to remain level-headed through just about any tough situation. I never have to worry about her either, as she's one of the most independent and self-sufficient women I have ever known. Beyond that, she's an incredibly hard worker and I know she will instill a great sense of work ethic into our future child someday.
Kristen About Stephanie: I love Stephanie's resilience and her ability to overcome any obstacle in her path. Whenever she is faced with adversity, she does whatever it takes and works hard to get through it. She is an intelligent, motivated person who achieves the goals she sets for herself. She has a huge heart and loves everyone unconditionally. She will do anything for her friends and family. With these qualities, along with watching her care for our fur babies, I know she will be a great mom to our child.
Our House and Neighborhood
In 2018, we had the opportunity to build the home of our dreams, our forever home, in a lovely, well-established community just outside of the city. We live in a three bedroom, two and a half bath home that also has an office for Kristen's work and a bonus room that we someday hope to convert into a playroom for our child. We have an open floor plan downstairs, with a large kitchen, dining room and living room area. Our favorite place indoors to spend time is in the kitchen, cooking dinner together in the evenings. Outside, we love having a large, fenced-in backyard and screened-in back porch. We love enjoying our morning coffee on the deck in the spring and fall and playing fetch with our pups in the backyard in the summer. We have the benefits of being located in a state that features an amazing beach on the east side, where we spend most of our summer, and on the west end, a sprawling, beautiful mountain range we try to visit once a year.
Our neighborhood is child-friendly, with a cute little playground in walking distance from our home. There's also an elementary school about a mile down the road where our child will eventually attend school. One of the most exciting child-friendly aspects of our area is the children's museum, which is a short 10-minute drive away!
Our favorite neighborhood activity is on Halloween each year when all of the neighborhood children dress up in their costumes and walk from home to home trick-or-treating. We can't wait to walk our child around in his or her costume to meet and greet with our neighbors!
Our Extended Families
Our extended families include our parents, siblings, and six nieces and nephews. While Kristen's family is mostly located in upstate New York, her parents spend three months in the winter in North Carolina so we spend a lot of time with them walking on the beach, watching football games on Sundays and hearing stories about their travels all over the United States. Stephanie's parents live a short, two-hour drive from us and love to spend the weekends with us, walking around the local flea markets and eating at new restaurants. When we spend time with our nieces and nephews, we love reading books to them, learning about their new likes and dislikes, and playing games with them.
We have also created a "framily" (friends + family) of our own with which we spend a majority of our time. We love finding new local restaurants to visit with them, playing Scrabble, Catch Phrase and other games, having puppy play dates, and grilling out at our house in the summer. Our friends and families are both incredibly supportive of our journey to adoption and cannot wait to have a little one join our squad.
From Us to You
Family is the most important thing to us. We have been together since 2009, nearly 11 years, and happily married for almost 7 of those years. Since we first met, we have always hoped that someday we would be parents. On long car rides back from the beach or mountains, or during hikes through the woods, we always found ourselves talking about growing our family. We are two very passionate people with dreams and goals of our own, but we know that we have the love in our hearts and home to support the dreams and goals of another person, a beautiful child, as well. We know that you are carefully and cautiously making this decision, and we want to assure you that your child will be in good hands; the hands of two people who will love this child, support them unconditionally, and provide them with the opportunity to grow into who and what they wish to become.
We know the decision you're facing isn't an easy one, and we want you to know that we are open to sending you letters and pictures throughout your child's life. For us, open adoption is flexible, and what you want as a part of that adoption matters to us. We are willing to discuss additional forms of contact, including emails, phone calls, and potentially future visits. We want you to know that you will always be a part of your child's story.
We aren't perfect people, but we work hard to make sure that the life and home we are creating together is healthy, safe, and loving. We have spent more than 10 years learning how to communicate with one another and how to love one another, fiercely and unconditionally, the same way we will love your child.
We can't wait to bring a child into our lives, to share in both the hard times and the good times. When we decorate the Christmas tree each December, we can't wait to have little hands helping place the ornaments on the branches. When we watch movies, snuggled up on the couch, we can't wait to have a child cuddled in between us. When we go to the beach in the summers, we can't wait to teach our child to swim. When our child is old enough to participate in various hobbies and activities, we can't wait to be those supportive parents cheering alongside them. And when it's time to tuck our child into bed each night, we can't wait to read him or her a book to fall asleep. It's the little moments we look forward to the most, and we promise to give your child memories to last him or her a lifetime.
Thank you for considering us to parent and love your child. We cannot imagine making the difficult decision you're making, but we are here to support you in any way that we can.
With love and gratitude,
Kristen & Stephanie
