What Makes Us Unique

Weekender on the Boat

We are happy to be given the opportunity to share about our family—Alissa, Edward and Captain (our labradoodle).

Our story began while working together in the Coast Guard which grew into friendship, dating, then marriage and we are excited to start the next chapter with the addition of a child to share our future. Together our family lives in sunny Florida on the Gulf Coast of Mexico. Alissa works from the home office as a defense contractor, Edward owns a yacht and design studio just a few miles from the house and Captain has a leisurely life meeting with customers, napping and supporting both of us.

We both have an adventurous spirit for traveling and experiencing new things and have been fortunate to have lived in other countries and experience different cultures over the years. Our family traditions and values are similar, both of our parents are still married and Alissa's grandparents actually just celebrated their 70th anniversary. We are truly blessed and thankful to have found each other!

Our Leisure Time

Edward at Work

There are so many activities that we love to do together and we also try to experience new things.

Alissa Playing Guitar

In our spare time we like to ride bikes, go boating, swim in our pool, visit the beach, cook, play games, snowboard, travel to new places, and spend time with family and friends. We also enjoy attending sporting events, listening to live music, participating in local events, going to church, and volunteering to give back to our community. When it comes to really relaxing we like to watch a good movie or series.

We like taking on home projects and working outside in our yard, while it can be a challenge its very rewarding for us to enjoy when we're finished!

Edward is a talented designer and loves teaching our nieces and nephews to draw. Alissa loves music and plays guitar and sings. We cannot wait to teach and involve our child in these activities and more!

Our Pup, Captain

Captain in the Pool

We absolutely love our adopted dog Captain and cannot imagine life without him as he brings our family so much joy and unconditional love. Some of Captain's favorite hobbies include boating, napping, treats, and playing fetch. He loves playing with children and other dog friends, going for walks and never passes up an opportunity for a good belly rub. We include him in almost all activities we do, he even takes turns going to work with both of us! Having Captain in our lives and raising him from the time he was a puppy has reinforced our confidence and abilities in being great parents for this child. We put Captain's needs ahead of our own as he is an important, loved member of our family and we look forward to doing the same and more for this child.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our home is spacious with three stories, four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a large yard, and we are only five miles from the beaches. We have a vaulted ceiling living room with a grand fireplace that has an open air walk through for the second story bedrooms. Captain loves to play catch with his favorite toys from the first to the second floor. The second floor also has a walk-around exterior balcony that overlooks the large backyard and pool that is surrounded with green tropical foliage.

We have become the favorite vacation destination for our extend family to visit. Alissa has three siblings with eight of our nieces and nephews from ages 1-8 years old, it has been a real joy to have them stay with us, learn to swim and get to spend time boating.

The neighborhood we live in is quiet and full of large trees with large streets and sidewalks. We walk Captain in the morning and evening with many friendly neighbors. Our next door neighbors have a 1-year-old with another on the way, they our close friends and the father was adopted sharing many of his positive stories as we have been on our journey to adoption.

Our Extended Families

Family Picnic

We love spending time with our extended families, we all get along so great. Whether its a vacation together, celebrating the holidays, attending birthday parties or just hanging out, we have such a good time making memories together.

All the Nieces & Nephews

We have several nieces and nephews on Alissa's side of the family that are a joy to spend time with, we play outside, swim, walk Captain, play board games, draw, and read books. Edward's extended family is very talented at cooking and we always share in delicious multicultural dishes. Gathering around the table and sharing a good meal together with both of our families is also a delight.

One of the unique fortunes we get to share with both sides of our families is boating, Edward and I are the only ones in our families that have the ability to take our loved ones out on the water to enjoy the beauty of the ocean. Attending church together with our extended family is also a special time especially over the holidays, we are very thankful for all the Lord has blessed us with.

From Us to You

This is the most important letter we have ever written. We want to thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to introduce ourselves and tell you about our family, Alissa, Edward and Captain (our dog). We are so thankful that you love your unborn child so much that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for them. We do not yet have children of our own, but we appreciate that words cannot express the love between parents and their child.

We met eight years ago in the Coast Guard and have been married for the last three years. Our lives have been so adventurous and fulfilling, our experiences have developed us so much. We are blessed and fortunate in that we have the flexibility to have Alissa work from home. Edward, who owns his own business, is able to spend a lot of time at home as his office is only a few miles away.

We live in a beautiful home on the Gulf Coast of Florida, five miles from the sandy white beaches. Our home is located in a wonderful neighborhood with large green yards, a beautiful park and friendly neighbors, with children that we are great friends with. Most of Alissa's family lives in the northeast, we take turns visiting each other. Our eight nieces and nephews ages 1-8, vacation with us several times a year. We love taking the kids on new adventures whether it be on the boat or skiing in the mountains. Edward's family lives on the Gulf Coast as well, we always have such a great time when they visit cooking together, sharing time and exploring different places. We spend holidays, reunions, and birthdays with both sides of our extended families including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

We believe that one of our most important responsibilities as parents is to ensure that your child knows God and knows that they are loved by us. Faith, family, and moral values are at the core foundation of our lives. Both of us grew up in loving and supportive home environments and both of us attended church on a regular basis. Our dream is to share these same values in a loving, caring and nurturing home.

We cannot say that we know exactly what you're going through, our heart goes out to you, respecting both you and your decision. We acknowledge that this must be a very difficult, emotional time in your lives, we hope that you feel supported and loved no matter where you are at in your journey. If you decide to make an adoption plan, we want to assure you that we promise to respect you and the level of openness/contact that you want to have with your child. We want you to know that we can offer your child unconditional love, emotional support, financial support, a safe/stable home, and sound educational path. We promise to cherish, love and care for your child with all of our heart and soul. We are praying for you and your baby, we hope that God may fill you with peace in whatever decision you make.

Blessings,

Edward & Alissa
