Ben & Sarah
Thank you for taking your time to look at our profile and for considering us. We have prayed for many years to have a family and adoption has been placed on our hearts and we believe what a miracle it is. While this journey can be filled with many tough decisions, we admire your strength and courage. We would be forever thankful to be chosen to be your child's parents.
We have a great balance in our life of God, family, and work. We consider ourselves blessed to be with our family for birthdays, holiday gatherings, and spontaneous get togethers. Family is very important to us and we love being so close to them. We have lots of nieces and nephews we love to spend time with too. Our life is centered around God and we enjoy going to church each week where we are Sunday School teachers, and involved in numerous activities throughout the year.
The both of us enjoy finding new places to eat or just staying in to cook a new recipe together. We appreciate the simpler things in life. For fun we enjoy hanging out with our family & friends, walking on a pretty day outside, going to different sporting events, or watching movies with a big bowl of popcorn. Ben enjoys running and taking care of the outside of our house like mowing and raking leaves. Sarah likes to spend her time decorating the house every season, planting flowers and going on fun shopping trips with her mom and sister.
Becoming parents will be our highest priority and blessing in this life. Our whole world may look a little different after bringing a child into our lives, but there isn't anything we have looked more forward to!
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Our favorite vacation spot is Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. We have been going there for many, many years! Since Sarah was a little girl she has been going to HHI with her family and when we got married, we continued that tradition. There is a lot to do there and we look forward to it every summer. A few things we always do are building sandcastles with our nephew and taking walks on the beach while seeing who can find the best seashells. Once we found a sand dollar and a baby sea turtle!
Being with family is what it's all about and making memories that really do last forever. Sarah loves getting crab legs at her favorite seafood restaurant and Ben loves getting his favorite ice cream fix wherever he can. There are many spots we enjoy going to such as Shelter Cove and Harbour Town. Also, there is a beautiful lighthouse you can go up and watch everyone below. There are lots of kid friendly activities to enjoy as a family too. Our vacations are spent enjoying it with the ones we love and we can't wait to share those special times with our child.
Why We Chose Adoption
From the beginning of our relationship we have always discussed wanting to have a family one day together. We have prayed for a few years for our desire to have a child and God has laid adoption on our hearts. Through the pain of waiting to have a child, we have also found joy in us growing closer in our marriage, families, and faith in Gods promises. We are very blessed with amazing families and want to provide the same fun and loving childhoods as we had growing up to our child. As our parents have taught us, we pray to set great examples such as being kind and respectful to everyone and love as God loves us. Every child is a blessing and we want them to know that they are so loved and feel comfortable to share anything with us. We are so excited for this journey to our hearts desire of being a mom and dad.
Our Extended Families
Family is very important to both of us, as we were raised in loving homes with great childhoods. Sarah's parents are both retired and live 10 minutes away. Her sister, Meghan, and her husband live one hour away with one son who we get to see very often. Sarah has another older sister, Jamie, and brother, Scott, who have given us more nieces and a nephew, and who live further away but we try to see as much as possible. Ben's mom lives one street over from us and his dad and step-mom live close by as well. Jeremy (Ben's older brother) lives in the same city with his wife and two children.
With all of our family so close by we love getting together for cook outs, holiday gatherings, birthdays, vacations, and anything our nieces and nephews may be into. Our parents are very involved with all of their grandchildren and are so excited of the thought of adding another to our family. Also, our siblings are looking forward to having their children get another cousin to play with.
Both of our families are so much fun. Always finding a way to make you feel special and loved. We often take a summer vacation with Sarah's family to the beach where we enjoy our time together. Everyone is so excited and supportive of our adoption plan. They know how ready we are to be parents and the joy of bringing home a little one will be for all of us!
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a four bedroom, two and a half bath home in a family-friendly neighborhood surrounded by many local parks and pools that we enjoy. There are always people out walking, kids riding bikes or playing basketball, or neighbors grilling out. We love our community and can't wait to raise a child here.
Our historic downtown is so beautiful and offers many great places to eat and shop. There is a famous bakery where their huge gingerbread men are a must! There are many community events and fun festivals that happen year round such as the BBQ Festival. Also, we live close to bigger cities that have zoos, indoor water parks, and ice-skating rinks. Our town also has the oldest outdoor theater in Kentucky where we love to watch a play every summer. There are also wonderful hiking and walking trails nearby.
We are also involved at our church where Sarah helps teach the 2nd/3rd grade Sunday School class with her mom and Ben teaches the Youth group. We also help with Vacation Bible School and Ben serves as a deacon. Our church has a Trunk-or-Treat each year where everyone, including adults, will dress up in their favorite costume and hand out candy to all the little ones. We also visit the local pumpkin patch/corn mazes every year where we pick a pumpkin and sip on hot apple cider.
From Us to You
We want to say Thank You for taking the time to consider us. This journey is full of many decisions and we admire your courage of finding what is best for you and your baby. We have committed to praying for all of you daily, and we are humbled at sharing a little bit about us.
We met in college during our Sophomore year in 2008. After graduating and dating for four years, we married in June 2012. We really are best friends and have so much fun when we are together or with our families. We have the same goals and desires, one of which is to have a family of our own. After many prayers and tears to become parents, God laid adoption on our hearts. Adoption to us is a miracle. We believe that God's timing and plans are much bigger and better than we could have ever imagined for our lives.
Becoming parents will involve many sleepless nights and hard days, but we wouldn't trade it for the world. More than anything, our hearts are ready to share the love and life we have. Having all of our family close by to help us along the way with a little one only makes life sweeter. When we first told our families about our adoption journey they were all overjoyed and continue to be excited for us. They are very supportive and know how much we desire to be parents. Our siblings are excited to have another cousin for their children to grow up and play with and our parents are anxiously awaiting a new grandbaby to spoil. We live very close to family and cannot wait to share in get togethers, family vacations, birthdays, and any other fun activities. As a family we also enjoy going to church every week, visiting the pumpkin patch & local festivals, and having Christmas cookie decorating contests to name a few!
The most important thing about being parents to us is raising our child with love. Love is action, it is forever, and it is genuine. Making sure they know how loved they are by not just us, but God, and our entire family. We have so much of it to give and cannot wait for every good, bad, and ugly thing that comes with being a parent. There will be temper tantrums and sickness, but there will also be uncontrollable laughter and snuggles. We cannot wait to have the most amazing jobs in the world and that is to be parents!
We want you to know how loved and strong you are to us by each step you are taking. We will share with you your child's growth and experiences through pictures and letters, and emails if desired. Adoption will always be open and honest discussions. There will never be negative talk, because adoption is amazing and full of strength and love from everyone involved. We will always speak highly of you through our words and actions. Also, adoption is welcomed in our lives where we have family members that are adopted along with several families we know in our community. Your child will always know where he or she came from and how much your love for them made adoption possible.
We hope more than anything that you know we will love your child more than life and promise to provide an upbringing in which God is a central figure and values such as generosity, kindness, and respect for others are taught every day. We promise to encourage your child's hopes and dreams and provide the best possible education. Both of our childhoods were full of memorable moments and we want to make those same memories. Our entire family is so excited at the thought of bringing a miracle baby into all of our lives.
Thank you again for allowing us the chance for you to get to know us.
