Taylor & Stephanie

First of all, thank you for reading this. We are an awesome family of three. We have known since early in our marriage that one day we would pursue adoption to complete our family. Our daughter Genesis wants nothing more than to be a big sister and we want nothing more than to raise one more special child. Choosing us would fill our hearts and family with such joy and happiness.

Why We Chose Adoption

Our Family

We are parents to one very special girl named Genesis. When we became pregnant with Genesis we were very excited. Things seemed to be going well until about 27 weeks Stephanie went in for a routine doctor visit and was admitted to the hospital that day. The doctors did everything they could to keep the pregnancy developing longer but Stephanie and Genesis were struggling and the situation became very dangerous. Genesis was born via C-section at 27 weeks and 3 days. Thankfully Genesis avoided any long-term issues due to her premature birth.

A few years later, we consulted with several specialists about having more children. We concluded with the help of our doctors that the risks were too high to have any more biological children. We knew immediately that adoption was the right path for us.

Genesis is a beautiful child who is eager to meet her new sibling. She sings loudly, laughs and tells jokes and she loves to play with other kids (especially her cousins). Genesis is empathetic, she likes to talk and share her feelings and she always tries to do her best. She loves animals and helps take care of our pets, she loves baking sweets and having tea parties. Genesis has always wanted to be a big sister. Genesis is invested in this adoption process. She can't wait to have a sibling to love, take care of, and be best friends with.

Our Leisure Time

Stephanie Working Out

Fitness is a big part of our life. We have been involved in our local CrossFit gym for nearly 2 years and have even started competing in local competitions. We've made great friends and gained physical and mental strength we never thought possible.

When the weather is warm we spend a lot of time outside. We love to go hiking and biking around the several trails in the area. Our dogs even have their own special wagon attachment so we can take them on our longer bike trips.

Taylor Playing Piano

Stephanie's hobbies include meditation, taking our dogs (Trixie Pom-Pom and Mr. Spock) to the dog park, going on long runs, and reading non-fiction books. She loves a good cup of coffee by a warm fire and cuddling with our friendly cat Orange Julius. She also enjoys going to thrift shops and visiting the cafe with her best friend Madi.

Taylor has several hobbies which include playing the piano, composing music, working with computers (or really any technology), flying radio controlled aircraft, and volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America.

We love to play games, watch movies, take naps, cook, listen to music and just hang out and spend time as a family.

Cultural Diversity

We recognize that both of us have experienced varying degrees of privilege in our lives and won't ever be able to fully put ourselves in the shoes of someone of a different race. We are committed to being sensitive and aware and the fiercest advocate for our adopted child. We understand the importance of honoring, learning and teaching our children about great individuals throughout history and their own heritage who look like they do.

We are always working to be better at understanding and celebrating different cultures. We're committed to making sure that we introduce and keep positive connections and influences with those in the black community. We think these connections for the child are important.

Discussing adoption and our differences will come naturally as the child grows. We will nurture the discussions and be open to the challenges that may come with them. Our ultimate goal is to raise a child with a strong sense of identity, community, self-worth and to know they are loved.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a quiet suburb west of St. Louis, Missouri. Our neighborhood has mature trees, flowering gardens, dogs and friendly neighbors. Our home is a spacious brick house on a corner lot with dark wood floors, fireplaces and a bright basement with second kitchen, office and movie watching area. We live walking distance (just across the street!) from a large lake where we go canoeing in the summer and watching fireworks from the picnic tables on the lake during the Fourth of July. Our next door neighbor Sandy has a big (fenced in) salt water swimming pool where we get to swim any time we want! When the weather gets cooler, we sit outside in our gazebo on the benches, wrap up in blankets and roast marshmallows around the fire pit.

We're in a safe small town with multiple parks close by where we take our dogs on long walks, ride bicycles and play on the monkey bars. We live approximately 1.5 miles from the elementary school, the highest rated in the district and one of the best in the area. We live a short distance from the St. Louis Zoo, multiple children's museums and Six Flags where we hold season passes and visit any chance we get!

Our Extended Families

Christmas With Family

Stephanie's parents took the whole family on a Christmas trip to a resort in Jamaica this year. It's becoming a tradition on the years we spend the Christmas with her side of the family to go to a nice all inclusive resort and let all the stress of life just melt away while listening to the ocean. Her 3 siblings and their significant others all attended and we sat on the beach, laughed, ate delicious food and connected. Stephanie's family events are always surrounded by good food, visits to museums and parks and travel to new and exotic places.

With Family in Jamaica

Taylor's family celebrates a ChrisGivings each year, getting together between Thanksgiving and Christmas where we always have an abundance of food and a day long game tournament where everyone participates. His parents, siblings, nieces and nephews all get together. There are pets and toys and children running around, it's loud and fun and full of jokes and Disney movies. There is always singing, laughing, late nights of talking and his mother's delicious homemade scones with honey butter.

We both come from homes of warmth, support, lots of love and laughter. We hope to have the opportunity to share our charmed life with your child and raise them canoeing on the nearby lake, singing loudly, belly laughing, reading magical stories and growing up with the belief that they are special, important, loved and wanted.

From Us to You

How do we express to you in a few short words our sincerest gratitude? Truly, thank you for viewing our profile, getting to know us a little more and considering us for what may be the most important decision you have to face right now. Wherever you are in this journey, we want to support you.

Currently, we are a family of three. Our beautiful daughter Genesis is the loudest, silliest, and bravest rebel girl we know. She's a happy, healthy, and bright 3rd grader. We have been married for 11 wonderful years. During this time we've lived in five homes, received two graduate degrees, and traveled to six countries. We have two friendly dogs and one cuddly cat. We've read countless books, sang many songs, and had deep conversations. We've made mistakes and worked to improve ourselves. We've laughed, cried, and made and shared resolutions. We call our families and travel together. But most importantly, we love deeply.

For the past several years, as other families around us have grown, Genesis has become aware of the size of our family and more open about her frustrations of being an only child. Every year when she blows out the candles on her birthday cake, she makes a wish for a new baby to join our family and to become a big sister. We have struggled awkwardly with our responses to her; telling her again and again of the painful story of her birth, how it isn't possible for us to have any more biological children and the timing wasn't yet right to begin adoption; we needed to get a few things in order first. Finally, this new year, this new decade, the timing is right and we are ready. Our life is in a steady predictable place; it's simple, routine and safe. We're ready to bring a precious baby into our happy world and raise them to be strong, loved, and to know they are always wanted.

Authenticity and openness are important to us. In this adoption, we want this special child to experience a full and beautiful life. We want them to know of all the wonderful things about their birth mother, and especially to know how extremely special you are to us too. We want a very open adoption but we will respect whatever degree of communication and relationship you need.

We can't begin to know what you may be going through or feeling at this time, but we hope you will find comfort in our general philosophy about life and of all of us learning and growing together. We are fiercely supportive of our children, especially in pursuing their passions. We strive to be brave, not perfect. We believe in helping foster a strong sense of a unique identity and deep family unity. We want you to feel safe in knowing your child will grow up in a warm and loving home with two caring parents and an awesome big sister.

We wish you compassion and support on your journey and hope this little glimpse into our life provides you with comfort.

With love,

Taylor & Stephanie
