Nick & Megan
God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sons" -Galatians 4:4-5. Knowing that we have been adopted into God's heavenly family motivates us to pursue adopting into our earthly family. We are so excited to share our lives with you through this profile. And we can't wait to continue down this road that God has us on.
Our Leisure Time
We have many hobbies and leisure activities we enjoy, some together and some separately. Together, we love to watch and play sports. From football to softball to lacrosse and basketball, we enjoy being active and watching our favorite teams play on the weekends. We hope to share our love of sports and activity with our kids! We also love spending time with friends and family. We try to make it a priority to be in community with those around us frequently. Whether that's dinner, camping, playing catch, or watching movie. People are a big part of our lives, and they’re all ready to help us welcome a child.
Separately, Nick loves woodworking. He loves to design, scale, measure, and craft amazing pieces to use in our home or to gift to others. It's a great creative outlet for him that is also calculated and precise, to match his personality. Megan loves to cook and play the piano. The unstructured nature of both activities provides her freedom to express herself freely and experiment with new sounds and flavors. She looks forward to having someone to share these hobbies with.
Addressing Cultural Diversity
We are both of European decent, ranging from Scotland to Sweden to England to Russia. Megan's sister-in-law is from Japan, and it has been a wonderful experience introducing new cultures into our family. We also live in a very diverse area of America, Nick works with people from India, China, Russia, Mexico, and many more places. We love getting to know them, their backgrounds, heritage, and priorities.
Megan lived in Nepal for a year, and experienced many differences of cultures while traveling through that area of the world. We love and celebrate culture and diversity, and believe that God's creativity is shown through culture. We strongly believe that culture should be upheld and honored, learned about and celebrated. And we believe it is vital for any child to know where they came from, their cultural heritage and history, and the foundations that built the world they are entering into. We have already begun to research other cultures and learn how to integrate them into our lives in order to show our children the power of their heritage, and to not be ashamed of where they came from. We know it is not easy to be a minority, but we want to empower our child in their cultural identity of self.
Family Dreams
We have always wanted a bigger family. We have dreams of a house filled with love, laughter, and sibling banter. We want our children to always have the built-in friendship of siblings to love and grow alongside. We desire for our home to be a safe place for our children, and for their friends.
We pray that our children are firmly rooted in their identity - that they do not shy away from their convictions, that they are not embarrassed of their preferences, and that they never feel unwanted or unwelcomed. We want to provide them with opportunities for knowledge, to learn not only life skills, but skills they are passionate about. We want them to have freedom to explore hobbies that provide them joy. We want for them to make a difference in this world, whether through ground-breaking work or simply through compassion to those around them. More than anything, we want them to know that we are always on their side, we always have their back. We pray that they find security in our love for them.

Our Extended Families

Megan's dad's family are local to our area, and her mom’s side of the family is mostly in Montana. We love spending time with the family that is local. From celebrating holidays & birthdays, to watching Seattle Seahawks football games, to going to Hawaii for family vacation. There is always a game being played full of friendly banter when they are together. While we don’t get to see the family in Montana as often as we’d like, we make a point to spend every other Christmas in Montana with them. It’s such a fun tradition full of laughter and smiles.
Nick grew up in Pennsylvania and most of his family is still there. Nick has a huge extended family – 22 first cousins and 30+ second cousins on his mom’s side alone! Some of our favorite traditions with them include spending a week at the lake (a tradition that has gone on for over 50 years) and celebrating Christmas on December 26th. Nick’s family loves sports. They grew up on playing football, baseball, and basketball being coached by dad. There is a lot of love in our families, and we look forward to that love being shown to a new little one.
Our House and Neighborhood

Our home is just north of a large city. We bought our house in 2019 and spent three months remodeling it! We love building things and creating spaces that feel like our own. We did new floors, new trim, new paint, new drywall in places, you name it. We wanted it just right to start our family in. It’s three bedrooms and sits on 0.25 acres. We built a fence around the whole yard and love to let our dog run in the yard.

Our surrounding area is very family friendly. There are many parks of all shapes and sizes. Some have baseball & soccer fields, some have jungle gyms & picnic tables, and some have a mix of both! There’s even a 40-acre off-leash dog park that we love to go to on Saturday mornings. We are excited to bring along a stroller and our child someday.
Our primary community comes from our church. It’s a larger church, which means that there are endless amounts of kids running around! Some of our very best friends just has their first child and we are excited that our kids will get to grow up and be friends with their kids! And it seems like friends of ours are getting married every other month, so there will surely be more kids coming in the years ahead.
From Us to You

As you read this, please know we are praying for you. We think of you often. We wonder at the courage you possess to make the decisions you are faced with. We cannot wait to meet you.
We both have always wanted children, from before we met each other 4.5 years ago, we both wanted a family. We never dreamed of the journey that we have walked to get to the point of adoption, starting with a passion in Megan's heart, becoming a desire in Nick's, and ending in the realization that biological children will not be a reality for us. We have cherished every minute of this journey so far! And we are so grateful to be able to begin our little family through adoption.
Travel is something we enjoy doing together, both domestically and internationally. We love learning about other places and experiencing other cultures. And we cannot wait to share our love for this world with our child! There is so much to know and experience that can impart incredibly valuable lessons, we want for our child to know and understand diversity deeply.
Family is very important to us and we place a huge priority on maintaining very strong family bonds. We know that our families will love this little one - both of our parents pray for them every day. We cannot wait to share our laughter and banter with this little one. We have some quirky personalities and unique senses of humor that keep us rolling with laughter whenever we are with our families!
We love to be active, whether that's working out, playing catch, taking our dog for walks, or hiking. We have dreamed for so long of how we will add a child into those activities, share our love of sports and the outdoors with them. Nick cannot wait to teach them to play catch! That is one of his favorite childhood memories, and is excited to keep the tradition going. Megan can't wait to teach them the art of competition, and how to keep it friendly. She is also excited to share her love of the kitchen with our child! Exploring new cuisines and ways of making food, expanding their palate to appreciate many different kinds of food.
Our prayer for our child is that they would be firmly rooted in their own identity. We want to raise them to be compassionate and understanding, by modeling how to love others well and be a good friend. We want them to have good work ethic and perseverance, and we will show them through our jobs both inside and outside the home how to never give up and work hard at everything they do. We want them to love knowledge and learning, we cannot wait to read to them from day one, to share our favorite hobbies, to teach them to ask good questions to gain more information.
And we desire to model a solid marriage to them. We want them to see our love for one another, that it is deep, genuine, and lasting and has grown over the three years we have been married. We want them to trust our love for each other and for them. To never doubt for one second the stability of their home. And we want you to be a part of that. Through pictures, letters, phone calls, even visits. We want them to know you. We want them to know where they came from and where they got some of their personality traits from. We hope you will join us in that effort.
With love,
Nick & Megan
