David & Gina
It means so much to us that you are taking the time to look at our profile! The journey we are about to take into adoption has us over the moon! We have been waiting for what feels like forever to begin our family, as we have not been able to have children on our own. For us though, it's not about the DNA and having biological kids, it has always been about becoming parents, starting our own little family and sharing all the love we have to give. We want to fill our home with the peace, love and happiness of a child.
Our Family Dream
For us, having a family of our own is everything. We both come from smaller families and have always wanted to grow them and fill them with what we consider to be the heart of all them all and that is kids!
We are ready to share our lives and be the best parents we possibly can. We want to see our child's excitement and share in it when they go to the ocean for the first time, to the zoo, learn to sing their ABC's, so many little things that all lead up into watching them grow into what you hope will just be a good person. Knowing you did whatever you could to give them that chance, means everything to us.
We love the holidays! Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and Halloween. We really look forward to having all of those special holiday experiences with our child. We want to give our child everything we had and so much more. New experiences, new adventures, security, openness and honesty.
What Makes Us Unique
Some might say we stand out in a crowd and we have always made that a positive. Gina with her long dreadlocks and flowy dresses, and Dave with his big curly hair and tie dye loving self. Dave has a passion for playing music and plays electric bass in a reggae rock band. He can also play the ukulele and little bit of piano/keyboard. Gina is extremely creative and loves woodburning, crafting and anything DIY really.
We love expressing ourselves through art and music. We look forward to the day where Dave can teach our little ones how to play an instrument and Gina can do her arts and crafts with them.
We live your normal everyday life, working hard for what we want and just wanting to raise a family. We just express ourselves in a way that is true to us. That is something we hope one day as well to pass along to our children. Know who you are and love yourself no matter what. We want to teach our children the importance of being true to themselves.
Adoption in Our Family
Adoption has been quite the topic in the recent years with Gina's family, as her mother was adopted and was only recently able find her birth family. Her adoption was completely closed with records sealed and the social services she was adopted through had been closed for many years. One year for Christmas we got Gina's mom an ancestry DNA kit because she said so often how much she wished she knew something about her birth family. Through the help of the ancestry kit, she got a chance she never thought she would have. Gina's mom was finally able to meet some of her birth family, including a sister which both couldn't be more thrilled about. Seeing Gina's mother go through all this really opened our eyes to an open adoption. For us, it shouldn't and won't be a secret. We want to share everything with our child about their journey into our arms and home. Our child will know exactly who they are and that we love them as much as we do.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a great little town in Pennsylvania! We purchased our home one month before getting married. It's a hidden gem that most don't expect. Our favorite room is the living room, it's big, comfy and makes you feel right at home. It also opens up to the dining room and kitchen, which is perfect for when we have family and friends over. There is so much room for us to grow! We picked our home specifically because we saw ourselves making a family here and fell in love. With three large bedrooms on the first floor and such a pretty backyard, we easily envision our future children growing here.
We love the community we live in! It's a perfect place for raising kids. For being a smaller town, we have plenty of diversity around us. We live three short blocks from our town park, ice cream shop and YMCA, and five blocks away from the elementary school. Our local rec board throws annual events that are some of our favorite times. There is a huge Memorial Day event, fall festival, a Halloween dance for the kids after trick or treating, plus so much more. We really fell in love after moving here. We're surrounded by many families with children and the town really goes all out for the kids. We can honestly say this is an open, welcoming and amazing place to grow a family, we are so excited to one day see our children love it too.
Our Extended Families
We both come from pretty small families, but each are filled with so much love and plenty of room to grow!
Gina's side of the family surely isn't your most traditional looking family, but as the saying goes, don't judge a book by its cover. There is a lot of heart, warmth and acceptance in this family. We live less than two blocks from Gina's mom's house, which is great for taking a walk down for dinner or just a quick visit to say hi. We all gather there for almost every holiday with Gina's younger brother coming in from Philadelphia and her older brother along with his family who live close by. We love spending time with our nieces, who are 8 and 6 years old, always picking them up on a free weekend whenever we can for some fun new adventure.
David's family is extremely laid back and easy going. Also living close by is his mother, she is truly our saving grace. We owe so much to her for all of her love and support through our lives, including our choice to adopt. Dave's mom has been just as eager for us to start our family. Along with Dave's mom, is also his step dad and 20 year old niece Morgan. They have all been so amazing through all of this and have had nothing but the upmost support.
From Us to You
Wow, where to even start. What can we really say here except thank you! No one but you will ever really understand the decision you are facing and the choice you are about to make. We are almost at a loss for words, but it is important to us for you to know what this means. We want you to know that our hearts are open and so are our families. This is an adventure like none other, but we will be with you if you want us, each step of the way and will promise to give this child, the best home and life we possibly could.
We have been together for 13 strong years and married for three of them. During this time, we have talked and dreamed about having our family and imagining all the amazing moments we can't wait to experience. That first Christmas, first Halloween costume, first trip to the beach, family vacations and finally starting our own family traditions. A beautiful room almost ready to become a nursery, but missing that one special someone. There is so much to look forward to and we are both so ready. After a few emotionally draining years of trying to make this dream a reality on our own, we decided opening our hearts to adoption would be our way of bringing our wishes of becoming parents and a family to life.
For us, adoption is a gift, it is a blessing and an opportunity which cannot be taken for granted. For you to consider us, possibly choose us and ask us to become your child's parents, leaves us both only wanting to love this child that much more, but also to make sure they know how much you loved and still love them as well. We want to speak openly and honestly, make sure your child knows their story, who they are and also knows you. We also want to make sure you know this child as well. Through photos, letters, phone calls, etc., we are completely open to giving this child every possible chance of knowing you and the amazing gift you gave to us, which in the end leaves us all forever pieced together. With Gina's mom being adopted and seeing her journey, how hard she struggled to find truth and answers, only leaves us wanting so much more in terms of openness. This child will be a part of our family forever and you will always be loved and considered a member of this family as well.
Our hopes and intentions are to be the best parents we can be and give our child the world. We want them to have every opportunity possible and to know we are by their side when they have goals and dreams of their own. We want to see them through a good strong life, one filled with diversity, positivity and so much more. Children need love, support, education and guidance and we want to be able to give that to them.
We do not know you yet, but hope to get that chance to know you and also get to know this amazing little miracle you are growing inside. We cannot even imagine where your thoughts are at right now, but if you are looking for two good, honest, hard-working, out of the box people to consider to raise this baby, then we can only hope that we can be those two loving people for you!
