Our Life Priorities

Family Mission Trip to Guatemala

As a family we have chosen values that influence all of our life decisions. To us, the most important things are to love God and love others. We value and seek out experiences that can grow our family to love serving others. We prioritize opportunities like local serve days, family mission trips, providing meals to families in need to expand our kids’ world views and shape them into adults who serve those around them.

We value family and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual person. As parents, our goal is to help provide opportunities and encourage each of our kids to be all God has created them to be. We prioritize activities that enrich them culturally as well as individual interests and talents such as music, art, sports, dance. We want them to grow up and use their gifts to make the world better.

We also love to have fun together! We love to travel, play and celebrate life and always focus on being grateful for each other.

Our Children

Family Hike

We have four precious children. Our oldest daughter, Chloe, is 12 and is a wonderful big sister. She is very creative, funny, smart and has such compassion for others. She loves to sing, dance, play musical instruments and preform on stage.

Our son, Beckett, is 10 and is very tenderhearted and smart. He loves to be outside playing sports, swimming or fishing! He plays baseball, basketball and football. Since the time he was little he wanted to be a doctor and help kids. He is a wonderful brother and loves his family.

Our younger son, Deacon, is 8 and is so funny! He lights up rooms and makes everyone smile. He is very sweet, loyal and strong. He plays baseball, football and basketball. He loves to do the right thing and gives the sweet compliments to others.

Our youngest daughter, Aaliyah, is 4. We had the privilege of adopting her and she has been such a gift to our family. She is so funny, full of energy and very smart. She is creative, imaginative and so beautiful inside and out. She loves to play, read books, dance and tell stories. She is always happy and has fun everywhere she goes.

Cultural Diversity

We Can't Wait to Grow Our Family!

We are a transracial adoptive family. We consider it a great honor and responsibility to raise a child of a different race and we work hard to provide racial mirrors for her. We always take this into consideration when we look at schools, churches, neighborhoods, and activities. We have very close friends that help us navigate and answer questions that may arise. Our church also has a large group of other transracial adoptive families and is very culturally diverse. We pick toys and books that highlight how special she is. We work hard to take great care of her skin and hair and are constantly researching and asking friends to gain knowledge so that we can equip her as she gets older. We also want her to always be proud of the beautiful girl she is. We work hard to celebrate the diversity in our family!

Our Extended Families

4th of July with Grandparents

Family is very important to us! Blake's parents and his sister and her family live just 20 mins away and Alison's parents and twin brother and his wife are just a couple hours away. They love to be involved in their grandchildren’s lives by coming to their activities, having sleepovers, and spending all the holidays together! When we are all together we love to play outside. One of our favorite games is kickball! We love watching movies together and cooking meals.

Grandparents Day at School

Last summer we went with Alison's parents to spend a week in Vermont with her aunt and uncle. We rented a house on a lake and went fishing, canoeing and hiking in the woods! We love spending time with our families!

For the holidays, we each have a special dish we cook and enjoy bringing it all together to celebrate! There is always lots of laughter and fun when we are with family! Everyone is so excited and supportive of our adoption plan. They cannot wait to be a part of the child's life, and look forward to a bundle of joy they can spoil with lots of love!

Our House and Neighborhood

Home Sweet Home

Our home is a fun place to be! We live in a wonderful neighborhood where we know most of our neighbors and our kids have friends that live just a few houses away! They are always playing outside together! Our neighborhood has 4 ponds that everyone enjoys fishing in! We have one pond right across the street and it has a beautiful historic barn that is always hosting fun events!

There is also a wonderful elementary school just down the street. In the middle of our neighborhood there is a big park that has a playground, splash park, basketball court and walking trails. We love to walk there and play!

Our Cozy Living Room

We are in a great community and close to so many fun activities! Our town does summer movie night in an outdoor area, they have wonderful Christmas festivals we love to go to and watch the big tree lighting, there is always activities going on for families to enjoy together!

We are so grateful for our community and the house we live in! Our home has lots of great space for kids but our favorite place to be is in our game room! We love to play ping pong, board games or snuggle and watch movies! And in the spring and summer we love to be outside swimming and playing!

From Us to You

We are so grateful that you have taken the time to learn more about us. We can't imagine how difficult this decision is and we are praying for you and your child daily. We met in college and were married after we graduated in 2003 when we just turned 24 and 22. We spent the first few years of our marriage with Blake finishing Optometry school and Alison teaching Kindergarten. We enjoyed that season together but we were also so excited to begin to grow our family.

We had our first daughter, Chloe, in 2008 and our hearts changed forever. We absolutely loved being parents. Alison was able to stay at home with our daughter, which has always been her dream. Then 21 months later we had our son, Beckett. Our hearts continued to grow and then two years after that we had another son, Deacon. At that point we knew we were done having biological children but we wanted to continue to grow our family through adoption. Through that process we got to adopt our youngest daughter, Aaliyah. This was such an incredible journey and we are forever grateful for all four of our children. They bring so much joy to our lives. We feel so honored to get to raise each of our children and we cannot wait to add another precious one to our family.

Our children are each other’s best friends and they cannot wait to have another sibling to love, play with and encourage. We also believe that having a sibling who is also adopted will be a huge benefit for our children. It will be something they have a special connection about and we will celebrate each of their adoption stories. We also know that since our youngest daughter is African American, we are committed to growing our family in a diverse way. We feel honored to raise children from different backgrounds than ours and we are committed to find ways to celebrate our differences and similarities.

We know this is such a hard decision and admire your courage and strength. We want you to know that you are loved and your child will always know how much you love them. We hope that learning more about us provides some peace of mind as you consider adoption for your child. Please know that we would love, support, encourage and adore this baby with everything we have! We will raise them, through our foundation of faith, to be strong in who they are and grow in all that God has for them. They will have a wonderful support system and four amazing older siblings!

We want you to know that we welcome and would encourage you to have an important role in the baby’s life if that is your desire. We are happy to send email updates with pictures and stories, as well as letters and keepsakes from milestones in the baby’s life. We are also open to make arrangements for visits when the time is right. We love having connections with our youngest daughter’s birth family and hope to have a connection with you as well. We know that is so special in adoptions. We will always speak highly of you and honor you in our home. You have made the most brave and selfless decision and we will always respect you for that.

Thank you again for allowing us to share our hearts with you.

Best wishes,

Blake & Alison
