Our Adventures

We Love to be Outdoors Together

We love to travel as well as go camping and kayaking. We have traveled all over the United States and parts of the Caribbean. Our most recent vacation was a cruise that took us to Mexico, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. We were able to tube down a river in Jamaica and experience what the local culture and cuisine had to offer.

Our area offers endless opportunities for outdoor fun. There are many places near our home that we frequent for camping and kayaking adventures. Another one of our favorite activities is hiking – and our dogs love it too! Being outdoors and enjoying nature is a great way for us to relax and recharge. We are so excited to be able to bring our child along to enjoy the beauty of nature.

For a weekend getaway we love to visit the Smoky Mountains (Ryan's favorite place) or Chattanooga, TN. Our latest trip to Chattanooga was filled with camping, hiking, and visiting the Tennessee Aquarium. These little getaways will be made more enjoyable as we grow our family!

Cultural Diversity

In adopting a child of a different race from ours, we know there is much we need to learn. We intend to make sure our child knows and is proud of their cultural heritage. We intend to research the different races and ethnicities that make up this child’s backgrounds. We would research not just by books but also by videos that were created by members of our child’s race. By researching through videos, we can get a better impression of everything that our child’s cultural background has to offer; which includes traditions, food, music, history, etc. We would also encourage our child to embrace his or her cultural heritage through participation. We would serve foods associated with his or her culture, participate in any events/traditions that are celebrated, and visit with the people of that child’s cultural background. Since our child will be raised by Caucasians, we strongly believe it is important for our child to know about his or her culture’s background because that education will help define them as they grow up.

Education We will Provide

We Can't Wait to be Parents!

Our child will be exposed to multiple ways of learning through out his/her life. In the early part of our child's life, he or she will be exposed to the outside environment. This will include participating in camping, fishing, gardening, hiking, identifying wildlife/plants, etc. We believe it is very important for our child to have as much interaction with the outdoors as possible and less interaction with electronic entertainment devices. As he or she gets older we will expose them to many academic fields so they can feel confident on the career path they choose. As for post-high school education, our child will have the option to choose whether he/she would like to attend a four year college, trade school, enter the work force or join the military. We are committed to guiding them along in whatever path they may choose.

Our Extended Families

Ryan's Parents Dressed Up for a Reenactment

Ryan grew up in a military family as his father was in the Air Force. He has one brother who is married; both his brother and sister-in-law are currently serving in the Air Force as well. Ryan's parents are still married and he has a close relationship with them. He talks to them often and we visit whenever we are able to. Both parents are retired and enjoy working in their garden. Ryan's mom enjoys making her own soaps and candles and looks forward to passing this knowledge on to her grandchild. His father enjoys historical re-enacting, which Ryan and his brother also participate in. Ryan's parents are excited to welcome a new grandchild to the family and his brother is excited to become an uncle.

Jaime & Her Mom

Jaime grew up in a small town with her parents and an older brother. Jaime's parents are still married and she has a close relationship with them talking to them regularly and visiting whenever possible. Jaime's parents are excited to welcome their first grandchild and her brother is also excited to become an uncle. Jaime's parents have horses and her mom looks forward to teaching her grandchild about horses and how to ride them.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in the country on five acres of land but we are only a short drive away from anything we may need. Our home and property offer an ideal place for a child to grow and play. We started our first garden this year and plan on adding chickens in the near future. Our two beagles love kids and will be great playmates for our child. We also volunteer for a local animal rescue and assist with transporting and fostering dogs.

Our town is a melting pot of diversity and culture and hosts an International Food Festival every year. Living in Tennessee also means that there is great Memphis style BBQ on practically every corner! There are many community parks and a great public school system as well as many private schools. Our community is very family-oriented and there is always a variety of family friendly events. One of our favorites is hosted by Jaime's employer and it's a triathlon for children of all abilities. We enjoy volunteering for this event and seeing all the excited kids as they are participating. Our local farmers market hosts free live music events and family movie nights. We are located within reasonable driving distance of everything Tennessee has to offer from the Great Smoky Mountains to Memphis, the home of the blues.

From Us to You

Thank you for choosing life and considering adoption for your child. We know this may be a confusing and difficult time while you are trying to figure out what is the best option for you and your precious baby. We hope that you feel loved and supported throughout this journey.

We would like to take this opportunity to help you get to know a little bit about us. We are Ryan and Jaime and we are excited to begin our family through adoption. We always knew we wanted children and feel that adoption is the best way to grow our family. This will be our first child and we are beyond thrilled to become parents. Our families are extremely supportive of us and our decision to adopt. They are beyond excited to have a new grandchild and look forward to spending time with our child and teaching them the values we believe in.

We met in November 2010 and were married in October 2012. Ryan served nine years in the Air Force prior to meeting Jaime. Ryan graduated college with a bachelors degree in geography. He currently works for the state in which we live and provides maps for emergency services. Jaime has a degree in culinary arts as well as a degree in physical therapy. Jaime currently works as a physical therapist assistant for a pediatric therapy clinic. Jaime has the privilege of working with children of all abilities from birth to 18 years of age.

For our future child, we value the importance of education and teaching by way of example, as well as respect and maintaining a strong character and work ethic. We believe it's important to support our child's individuality and will love and encourage them in every aspect of their life. Our child will be raised to love and respect all living things and will be taught the importance of giving back to their community. We will always be open and honest with our child regarding adoption. We will always speak highly of you and honor you with our words and actions. We welcome your continued investment in your child's life.

If an adoption plan is the right choice for you and your baby, we want to assure you that we promise to respect your choices for the level of openness and contact that you wish to have with your child. We will share your child's growth and experiences through pictures and letters or more open contact if desired. You are significant to us, and to your child, and always will be.

We are humbled and thankful that you have taken the time to consider us as potential parents for your child, and thank you for allowing us to share with you a little about ourselves. The road that you are walking is one with many choices and many staggering decisions to be made. We hope for peace and love to be overflowing in your life and for the health and happiness of the little one you have created.

With much love,

Ryan & Jaime
