Craig & Mark
We are beyond excited to have this opportunity to share with you our story and our lives. We cannot begin to imagine how difficult and complicated this process must be for you. Thank you for taking the time to consider us for the adoption of your child. Our hope is that you will be able to see the life we have created with one another, a life filled with much love, support and a strong sense of family. We know you will make the decision that is right for you and your baby.
Our Leisure Time
In his spare time, Craig loves to help friends and family work on all of their real estate needs as he is also a licensed real-estate agent. He loves doing this on the side as he has a huge interest in everything real-estate and home related. Craig is also our resident "fix-it" guy! He always has a home improvement project going. Whether it is fixing things around our house, gardening, or other small-home improvement projects Craig absolutely loves doing everything home-related!
Mark loves to be outdoors, either running, biking, hiking, or just hanging out with our dogs. He's also an amateur snowboarder and loves hitting the slopes with his Dad be it day trips or weekend-long ski trips. When he's not working on lesson plans for his 8th grade students he loves exploring and finding new adventures. Mark is always up for trying new things and absolutely loves to travel. He lived in Italy for a semester during college and loved the fact that every day was a new experience. He cannot wait to share all of these new adventures with our child.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Mark About Craig: Craig is the most compassionate, hardworking, and selfless person I know. Seeing him interact with his parents, sisters, nieces, and nephews is one of the reasons why I fell so in love with him. He has a warm personality, great sense of humor and is amazingly kind. He cares deeply about the people in his life and puts others above himself. Craig is extremely dedicated to everything he does in life -- at home and in his career. You can see it as he completes small projects around the house or solving problems at work. Craig is a man of his word and absolutely dependable. He will attend every sports game, dance recital, or school conference.
Craig About Mark: Mark has a smile that lights up any room he walks into. He is always in a great mood and finds the good in all people. He loves to celebrate all of life's moments, big and small, whether were out walking our dogs or playing board games with friends or running a marathon. Everyone who knows Mark would describe him as easy-going, loving, patient, kind, and trustworthy. His kind heart and good sense of humor are some of the qualities that made me instantly fall in love with him. Mark has a lot of patience and knows how to really listen. All these traits will make him an incredible father!
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
We love to spend time at the beach! During the summer, we go to our family's summer house on Cape Cod. We love going there with our family, friends, and of course, our dogs. Every Fourth of July is spent hosting a fun get-together complete with a barbecue or clam bake as well as activities such as volleyball on the beach, cornhole on the front lawn, or swimming in the pool. It has become a wonderful family tradition! Craig grew up going to the same town on Cape Cod as we now vacation at. In fact, his grandparents took him to this spot on Cape Cod every weekend in the summer during his childhood. One of our favorite traditions is going out for ice cream at our favorite spot after a long day at the beach. We love to take Craig's nieces and nephews to mini-golf, the arcade, and the bumper boats while we are all down there. On nice, sunny, beautiful days you would definitely find us in Craig's jeep with the top down adventuring through all of the Cape's quaint New England towns, exploring vintage shops or grabbing a hot dog and strolling through the historic villages with our dogs.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a small suburb thirty minutes outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Our home has plenty of space. It is great for entertaining and hosting holidays for all of our family get together's! We have three guest rooms and can't wait to change one into our child's bedroom!
An extra special part of where we live includes the fact that Craig's parents live directly across the street from us!
Our neighborhood has a lot of young families and is a quiet and safe place for children to play. We are very close to activities for families to enjoy -- parks, bike trails, playgrounds, and swimming pools. Our home is also close to all of the local schools nearby.
We love the fact that the town in which we live hosts many annual traditions (like the Santa Parade and the Turkey Trot!) and is a very active community of hard-working folks. All of the houses in our neighborhood are well maintained and the neighbors are extremely friendly with one another. In fact, there are about five families on our street with children under the age of five who we know will become quick friends with our children. We absolutely love where we live and we cannot wait to share it all with our future child.
Our Extended Families
Craig is the youngest of three children. He has two older sisters both of whom are married with kids of their own who both live within a couple of miles from our house. Fortunately, Craig's parents actually live directly across the street from us which makes impromptu visits very easy and frequent! In fact, Craig's mom often just pops over to give us dinner which we greatly appreciate since she is such a fantastic cook (her chicken piccata is out of this world!).
Mark's family lives a bit further away but still close enough to come by about every other weekend. Both his parents and his brother live about 20 miles away and we try to see them for lunch on the weekends or invite them over for dinner as much as possible. We absolutely love playing board games when our families are all together. Catch Phrase is a must play game on holidays when we typically host both of our families over at our home (which can be well over 30 people!).
Both of our families are extremely supportive of our plans to adopt. While Craig's mom is already a grandmother to six beautiful grandchilden (Craig's nieces and nephews), Mark's mother is not a grandmother yet and she cannot wait to begin that journey of her own. We are extremely thankful to our parents for providing us with the positive upbringing and hope to continue these traditions with our future child.
From Us to You
We are beyond excited to have this opportunity to share with you our story and our lives. We cannot begin to imagine how difficult and complicated this process must be for you. Thank you for taking the time to consider us for the adoption of your child. Being a gay male couple and eager to become parents, we have planned to build our family together through adoption. Since we first met, the topic of building a family has always been one of our guiding principles and is wholeheartedly supported by all of our family and friends. Indeed, going through this process has allowed us to learn more about one another, further solidifying our intentions to adopt and to grow our family.
We both grew up surrounded by a great deal of love and support from our families. As parents, we hope to do the same with our child and apply many of the same core values that we were both brought up on. We hope to provide our child a loving, happy, healthy, and balanced life. Our family and friends are thrilled that we have started our journey to adopt. We plan to be open when discussing our child's adoption journey and speak of you with respect, love and compassion. We strongly believe in the value of education, the importance of having a strong moral upbringing, and the value of respect for all. We will motivate him/her to constantly find ways to be their own personal best. We will constantly strive for our child to seek education and will provide a supportive, educational environment for him/her to grow up in.
We promise to love our child unconditionally through love, kindness and support. We promise to instill in our child important core values such as being kind to others, a sense of compassion, and a willingness to make the world a better place. We promise to always be honest with our child about his/her adoption story and speak of you with genuine love and respect. We promise to keep you updated through the years with letters, photos and videos. We promise that we will lead by example for our child and to provide them with a safe, loving environmental filled with laughter, joy, and a lifetime of opportunities.
As you consider your possible adoption plan, we anticipate that these next few pages will give you a sense of who we are as individuals and together as a couple. Our hope is that you will be able to see the life we have created with one another, a life filled with much love, support and a strong sense of family. We know you will make the decision that is right for you and your baby. We are grateful that you have taken the time to learn a little bit about us. As you are making your decision, please know that we are thinking of you. We wish you much love and strength today and always.
With much love,
Craig & Mark
