Our Leisure Time

Go Pack Go!

In our leisure time we love to travel. We love seeing places we’ve never been to before, visiting important sites and trying new foods that we can’t get at home. Alicia's family lives in multiple states so we try and visit them as much as possible as well. While we are traveling, we love to look up fun, locally owned restaurants and places that aren’t available to see near where we live.

When we do have an afternoon for just us, while Natalie is with her grandparents, we like to golf in the summer, as it gets us outdoors and with the way we golf, it gets us to laugh. We are also sports fans. Matt is a big Cubs fan so he likes to watch games when he can, mostly on TV, but once a year he catches a game in person. Alicia is a huge Green Bay Packers fan as well. Sundays are football days in our home. Every so often we are lucky enough to be able to go to a game in Green Bay and cheer on our favorite team. We like to try and take day trips to places in Wisconsin, in order to see as much of our state as possible.

Our Family Traditions

Over the years we have started to develop family traditions in our little family, along with participating in our extended family's traditions that mostly coincide with Holidays. Since our daughter was born Sundays are for pancakes. As she gets older, the pancakes become fancier! And of course being in Wisconsin we do fish fries on Fridays. We haven't skipped one in years! We celebrate each holiday as a family. From Easter to Christmas we try and make each one a day to look forward to and celebrate together. For Easter we make a traditional ham dinner after we search for Easter Eggs and baskets. Halloween is our daughter's favorite holiday. She has her costume picked out almost a year in advance. We may go a little overboard on the house decorations. Thanksgiving and Christmas are spent with Matt's whole family, eating, laughing and of course gifts. Matt also really likes to decorate our house for Christmas with hundreds of lights, blow up decorations, candy canes and anything else he can find, just like his father and his grandfather did in the past. As we continue to grow as a family we're excited to see what traditions we can add!

Our Dog, Betty

Our Sweet Girl

Alicia has always grown up with pets in her life. When we got our first apartment Alicia had an adorable black cat named Rico. A few short years after being together we bought our first house and got our first baby, Betty, the sweetest golden retriever puppy. She is now 6 years old and our daughter's best friend and partner in crime. Betty is so much more to us than a pet. She provides us all with emotional support, companionship and laughter. She plays so well with our daughter and is the perfect snuggle companion when it's quiet time. She can sense when one of us is having a bad day and will do whatever she can to make us smile. We believe that having pets as a child will help teach compassion, empathy and responsibility. Our daughter loves to help us feed her and take her for her daily walk. When we plan trips within driving distance we make sure we can bring her with us!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a family oriented, small community in Wisconsin. Our neighborhood is very quiet, but filled with young families and lots of children from varying backgrounds and ethnicities. From sunrise until sunset, we have children riding bikes, scooters and skateboards along with families walking pets up and down the road, enjoying the weather and having fun. We also have a jungle-gym and small pool in our large back yard for playing and enjoying summers.

We Love Hanging Out in Our Basement

We have a 3-bedroom ranch home with a newly remodeled basement, where we spend most of our time, that is ideal for family time and playing with toys. A block from our house is a park that has large swing sets, a huge jungle gym, soccer field and volleyball courts for the community’s enjoyment. We are also only a few miles from a community pool that has both adult sized pools, and splashpads for little children.

Our Extended Families

5k with Matt's Brother & Sister-in-Law

Matt's family all live within a short drive of one another. His brother and his family are the closest, and we spend the most time with them. His parents also are very close and love spending time with our family. His sister and her family are also a short drive away, and we see them for family events and special occasions. Alicia's family are scattered across the United States, so we spend the most time with them on FaceTime but we love to travel to see them whenever we can. Her parents visit us at least once a year, and her sister comes when she's able. Her brother and family live in Utah and we call them as often as we can.

With Alicia's Sister

When we do spend time with family, it revolves around catching up, playing games, laughing and having fun together. We spend almost all holidays and special occasions with Matt's family in town, and try to spend as much time as we can enjoying the summer outdoors cooking out or having picnics. Both of our families are extremely excited for us to be adopting, and look forward to meeting, spending time with, and spoiling our newest addition.

From Us to You

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to learn more about us. We both understand that this may be a difficult time for you, and that you are going through a range of emotions. We hope that reading a little more about us, you find something in our story that can be reassuring that we would give your child an amazing home, full of love and laughter.

We met 15 years ago when we were working at the same restaurant. It wasn't a love at first sight situation, but we became friends immediately and had the same friends outside of work. We would continue to spend more and more time together until Alicia moved to Minneapolis. We saw each other randomly for a few years when she came back to Wisconsin to visit. Then one day she reached out and asked Matt to dinner the next time she was in town. We sat at the dinner table at the restaurant for hours talking and we both knew at that time we had something special. We have been best friends ever since, marrying in 2014.

After our wedding we knew that we wanted to expand our family. We wanted to share our hearts with children. We tried so hard for so long, working with the very best fertility specialists we could find. In 2017 we were so blessed to welcome our daughter into our lives. Holding her for the first time we knew that we were meant to be parents. We tried again after her first birthday, but we were unsuccessful. That is where our adoption journey begins.

We live in a beautiful home in a small suburb just outside of the city. We spend as much time as possible outside in the summer months because Wisconsin winters are COLD. During the hibernating months we have stacks of games, books and puzzles to keep us busy. We do, however, love to go outside and build snowmen and go sledding on the warmer winter days. We even have a small shovel that our daughter uses to help us shovel our driveway after a big storm.

Our hope is that we give our children a wonderful childhood they can look back on and smile, knowing they were loved. Both of us have siblings that we are very close to. We want to give that to our daughter, and give your child the same experience and love that we continue to have in our lives; To grow up together, being each other's first best friend. To have someone to wake up early with and run out to see what Santa brought on Christmas morning or to search for Easter baskets and eggs in the yard. A sibling to go through life experiences with and to share secrets and inside jokes that only they will understand. Both of us have so much love in our hearts and dream about sharing that with another baby.

If we have the honor of being your baby's parents, we would want you to be a part of their life as well as ours. We would love to share your baby's life with you through emails, pictures, phone/FaceTime calls and visits. We believe that remaining in each other's lives would be so beneficial to everyone, especially your baby. We feel it is so important that your baby has someone to talk to, to learn more about themselves, to help them know where they came from and what they can continue on from their family history.

We wish you the best from the bottom of our hearts and want to sincerely thank you for considering us as the potential family for your child.

With all our love,

Matt & Alicia
