Connor & Elle
We are so incredibly excited and hopeful to grow our family through adoption. Thank you for taking the time and courage to read our profile. We cannot wait to share our joy, energy, love, and passion with a child. We appreciate you considering us as potential parents.
Our Leisure Time
We live in a warm climate and spend a lot of time outdoors after dinner and on weekends. We both enjoy spending time on our boat, going for rides and fishing. We also enjoy camping and we bring our dogs with us whenever possible.
At home we enjoy family dinners and pool time and just sitting outside with friends. Elle loves to read and looks forward to sharing that activity with a child. Connor loves to fish and is looking forward to sharing that passion with a child. Recently we added learning jiu jitsu and attending class together. We are both athletic and like to keep active.
We also enjoy taking long weekend trips. Our favorite is scuba diving in the Florida Keys. We have also gone on sailing trips with several other couples, yearly ski trips, and recently we went hiking in the mountains with friends and our dogs. It is fun to explore new areas.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Elle About Connor: I admire Connor's passion for life. Connor has helped me step out of my comfort zone to try new things like becoming scuba certified shortly after we met. Diving is one of Connor's hobbies that I wanted to join him in and we chose a honeymoon adventure at a dive resort in Turks and Caicos Islands. I respect the way Connor encourages others, his helpfulness, and his ability to work hard in his career. I also love his ability to stop thinking about work at the end of his day to relax and enjoy each other's company.
Connor About Elle: I admire Elle's intelligence and creativity. Elle is great at multitasking and keeps track of all the details in our lives. Elle is well respected in her work and enjoys her job. At home, her creative outlets include sewing and baking; she recently made some baby clothes for her sister's first baby. Elle is also very affectionate and loving, surrounding herself with both people and animals. I respect Elle's kindness, her ability to listen to others, and the time she spends staying connected to both of our families.
Our Family Traditions
Our families have very similar traditions, especially around Easter and Christmas. We both have great memories of celebrating both holidays by gathering the whole family, going to church, and sitting down to a home cooked meal with too much food. There's always lots of excitement at Christmas, spending time together and passing around gifts. Elle's family made gingerbread houses every year on Thanksgiving weekend for many years. At Easter, when Elle was young, her family would spend a day dyeing Easter eggs and then went to her paternal grandparents' home where they let the kids take turns hitting a piñata full of candy. They both hope to continue that tradition with their own family. Both families celebrated birthdays with special meals chosen by the birthday boy or girl, and Connor's family has continued this tradition into adulthood. Our families also tried to get away each summer for vacations, often to go camping with other families. We continue to go camping and bring our dogs too. We started a new tradition of spending some time each summer in the Florida Keys during lobster season, and a weekend in the west, snowboarding and skiing. Elle is still on the bunny slopes, but she is gaining more control each year!
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in Florida, a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico, in a suburban family neighborhood. Our house backs up to a small pond that attracts lots of birds. One of our regular visitors is a heron named Henry that sits and watches us. Outside we have an above ground pool on one side and an area to park our boat on the other side. We have a screened porch in the front of the house that leads to an open living space and three bedrooms. One of the bedrooms will be our nursery, and we have started to get that space ready for a child. Elle recently painted an underwater mural as an accent wall for a crib.
Our favorite space is the backyard entertaining area where we like to drink our morning coffee looking out over the pond, and then we both work from home; Connor's office is in one of the bedrooms and Elle works in the sunroom that overlooks the pond. We are very close to the beach and there are lots of parks nearby where we take our dogs and enjoy a picnic. We love this area of Florida and plan to stay here.
Our Extended Families
We see a lot of our families and spend time with many friends. With Elle's family, we love to make homemade dinners, egg rolls being one of our favorites, play card games, and gather for DIY projects. With Connor's family, we love to get together for homemade dinners too, or go out for the afternoon on our boat. We enjoy all the people in our lives and are looking forward to including a child in our activities.
Most of Connor's family all live within a 30 minute drive. It's nice to have the support of family close by and we are always happy to help them out too. Most of Elle's family live a few hours away in Florida as well. We make the effort to visit back and forth as often as we can, mostly for holidays and birthdays. A child in our family will see their grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins often.
Our families are very excited that we have chosen to adopt a child soon, especially our siblings that have children themselves and are excited for the day we add a child to our family. We both came from families that are generous with their time and love, and pursuing an adoption was a natural choice for us. Our families support us and will love this child unconditionally.
From Us to You
We have known since we started dating five years ago that this day would come, that we would be asking a woman or set of parents, if we could have their blessing to raise their child. Medical issues prevent us from having a child born naturally, but we have held out hope for a child of our hearts. We believe in God and his plan for us to raise a family, and that he would place us where we are needed.
We were married two years ago and are ready to share ourselves and our love with a child. We have had beautiful examples of good marriages with both sets of our parents. Our marriage is a great balance of what we each can bring to our family, and we will pass that on to your child. Elle is the calm and organized one. She's definitely the planner of the two. She's pretty reserved and relaxed. Her ideal night is hanging out on the couch cuddling with their pets and reading a good book. She is the oldest of three sisters, so she is pretty maternal. Connor is kind of the opposite. He's extremely outgoing. He can pretty much talk to anyone about anything. He loves fishing and being out on the water. He's got a lot of energy. We continually strengthen our relationship by spending time together and bonding over the things we have in common. This includes little things like eating dinner together every night as well as big things like family vacations to the Florida Keys.
We are both driven and goal orientated people. We know how to make a plan to achieve our dreams. For example, both of us were working jobs that made us unhappy. Connor made the transition about four years ago to real estate. This was a big change and required both of us to be on board. Elle's support and encouragement allowed him to take time to learn, and he is now a successful realtor. More recently Elle changed companies to one that keeps her mentally challenged while being supportive of work life balance. We tackle problems as a team and check in regularly with how we can help each other.
We value education, opportunity, discovering the world around us, pets that bring love, faith, family support and learning new skills. We would love to teach your child about our pastimes; whether it's reading, cooking, sewing, fishing, skiing, boating, or something new altogether. Most importantly, we would want to raise a child that is happy, healthy, well-rounded, strong, and has good character.
We promise to send pictures and letters written about your child every year, so that you can see how much they are loved. Our future child will never wonder about their story. We believe it is important for a child to know their life was and is valued by both their biological parents and their adoptive parents. We have the full support of both our families as we grow our family through adoption, and our child will never be unsure of the love we have for them. We will do our best to honor and respect the hard decisions that led to what will be one of our greatest blessings. We don't know the circumstances that brought you to read about us, but we are grateful that you are here. We want you to know that everything has a season, and that this time in your life could be a blessing in our life. Thank you for reading about us, and for considering us as parents for your child.
