What it Means to be Parents

We Can't Wait to Grow Our Family

Being a parent to us means to be a good role model to our children. Showing them how to love and care for others. Teaching them to appreciate the things they have and making sure that they can always count on us to be there for them. We always strive to develop that close relationship, where they feel safe and comfortable to come to us with anything. As parents we are given the responsibility to look out and care for our children and to make sure we do everything in our power to protect them from being hurt.

Parenting is such a big responsibility, and there is so much that goes into raising a child. Since we are parents, we understand how important love, patience, compassion and understanding for your child is. We strive to show our daughter and future children a very loving home. We want our children to be raised seeing how much we both love each other and how important family is to us. Being parents has been the biggest blessing in our lives. We want nothing more than to be able to provide this future child with a family that loves and cares deeply for them.

Adoption in Our Lives

Madison & Her Brothers

Adoption is so close to our hearts! Madison's brothers, Deresse and Tadesse, were adopted from Ethiopia eight years ago. Madison begged her parents for years to adopt, she knew in her heart that God had called her family to adoption. The boys have made the biggest impact on all of our lives, and we have been so blessed to be a part of their lives. Seeing firsthand the beauty of adoption made it very clear that we would someday want to adopt. Madison's brothers have been the greatest addition to our family! We are so thankful to Deresse and Tadesse's birth mom for choosing adoption to create the best life that she could for them. We know that she loves them both more than anything and that is why she chose adoption. We are so excited to start our adoption journey and to be able to create the most loving home for this child.

Cultural Diversity

We LOVE having diversity in our family, we believe that God intended for us all to be so uniquely different. This child will grow up with two Ethiopian uncles and one who is Native American/Hispanic. This child will have so many positive role models within our family to look up to. We also live in a neighborhood with all different racial makeups, which makes the schools diverse as well, so this child will always be surrounded by a variety of people.

We will always strive to learn, teach and embrace the cultural and racial differences with this child. We enjoy learning about other cultures and different traditions in cultures. We have an annual tradition with Madison's brothers to go to an authentic Ethiopian restaurant and enjoy the food from their culture. We can't wait to learn about and celebrate any of the traditions in our future child's heritage. We will always teach our children to love the differences in each other and to love that our skin all looks different, but most importantly to love each other no matter what. We don't have to look the same to love the same, this has proven to be so true in our lives already.

Our Extended Families

Madison's Family

We are so lucky to have all of our extended family less than twenty minutes away. Our whole family is extremely close, we see each other weekly and love spending time together. We especially love spending time at our family cabin up North. We all enjoy playing volleyball, riding dirt bikes & quads, hiking the trails and having campfires. Every Christmas we spend time with Nick's family on Christmas Eve exchanging gifts and sharing a meal together. We also go to Madison's family where we stay the night and take funny Christmas photos every year.

Mila Loving On Her Uncle

Our family is very diverse as Madison's brothers were adopted from Ethiopia eight years ago. They are amazing boys and have been such a blessing to our family! We also both have sisters who are married with little girls. We really enjoy getting together and letting all of the cousins play! There is nothing we would rather do than spend time with both of our families. There is never a dull moment in our home, we are always laughing and having a great time together. We have been so blessed with such an amazing family. Your child will not only be so loved by us, but deeply loved by our extended family. We are so excited to see our extended family with this child!

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a four bedroom home in Michigan. Our subdivision is filled with a lot of families with young kids. We have walking trails near our home, and there are always kiddos playing outside, riding bikes and going for walks. We live in a very diverse neighborhood with a lot of families with young children and other adopted children. We enjoy spending time outside and being active. Living ten minutes from Lake Michigan, we love to go hiking, play volleyball and swim at the beach.

One of our favorite spots in our home is our daughters play room, we enjoy playing with her and getting to see her enjoy all of her books and toys. We also enjoy spending time in our family room where we enjoy snuggling up on our couch. Mila loves being outside and riding around the neighborhood in her baby Jeep! We have a few annual outdoor festivals where there are so many fun activities for kids, like games, bounce houses and playgrounds. We have season passes to a local farm where there is a petting zoo, kids-themed events on the weekend, and fun games to play. We can’t wait to raise our children here.

From Us to You

We want to thank you for viewing our profile! We can only imagine the difficulty in choosing a family for your child. We want you to know that we truly want the best for you and your child. We hope that in seeing our profile and video that you will get a real look into our lives. We have so much love to share with this child and with you as well! We want you to feel confident in your decision, should you choose us.

We met about seven years ago and knew right away we would get married! We were both so sure and everyone thought we were crazy, since we were so young! We got married in the fall of 2015 and our love continues to grow every day. Our friendship is what makes our marriage unique, we are best friends and want to spend as much time as we can together. We make each other and our little family a priority each and every day.

We both have lived in Michigan our entire lives and plan to continue living here. All of our extended family lives less than twenty minutes away. We value time with our family so much that we see them all weekly! Since Madison is a stay-at-home mom, it provides us with so many opportunities to spend time with our family and Mila's cousins during the week.

We want you to know without a doubt, that your child will be so very loved by us and our extended family. We want nothing more than to give your child the best possible life, full of love and opportunity. We have prayed about adoption for years, and we pray daily for you and your growing baby. We want you to know how much we respect you and your decision to choose adoption for your child. It is very apparent that you have a deep love for this child to go through this process, to find the best home for your baby. Should you choose us, this child will grow up knowing the love and sacrifice you made to give them the best possible life. We want your child to grow up knowing you and knowing about you. We truly want the best for this child and for them to grow up knowing everything that they desire to know about you and your family. We would love to keep open communication with you and share photos of your child as he or she grows, if you desire!

We can only imagine how tough of a time this may be for you and we also understand if you feel unsure about how much communication you would like with your child. We will meet you wherever you feel comfortable, this is a lifelong journey and we know that time can always change things. We really do believe that this whole adoption journey doesn't end at the hospital, it begins. We are committed to giving this child so much love and we want you to be a part of that, if you desire.

We want you to know that we will be here for you during this time should you need anything from us. We feel blessed that you have taken the time to read all of our profile. We pray for you daily and will continue to. We pray you feel confident in making this decision, and we truly hope we are the right family for you and your child.

With Love,

Nick & Madison
