Cultural Heritage

Family Trip to Ireland

We love learning about other cultures and our own. Erin especially loves learning about her background, which is Irish, Scottish, English, French, German and Native American. Erin loves teaching our girls about other cultures and race, and how we need to see our differences, not be blind to them. Erin is very active in many groups online and in person, including Birthing While Black, Midwives for Black Lives, Black Lives Matter, Indigenous Midwifery and many others.

We would love the chance to adopt any baby and if they are another race, we plan to immerse them in that culture by spending more time with our BIPOC friends and joining groups and making sure they get a lot of exposure to other cultures, not just our white family. We are big travelers, so we would also love the chance to take them to the country of their heritage one day so that they can learn even more! The most important way we'd like to involve them in their own culture is by keeping a good relationship with their birth family. That is very important to us.

Our Daughters

Our Sweet Girls

Kaitlyn is a fast-growing 14-year old with a sharper wit than most adults we know. She expresses her knack for creative design in the form of fancy makeup, well-coordinated outfits, colorful drawings, and elaborate dances. She loves to read, sing and is a very talented artist. She enjoys playing games like Exploding Kittens, Uno, Dragonwood and Tokaido. Kaitlyn loves anything Harry Potter and is excited to see her new little sibling in the Harry Potter diaper she helped pick out!

Annabelle is a sweet, intelligent 8-year-old who loves babies and animals. She especially loves cats and helped to name our first adopted kitty, Zanzibar, named after a Dr Seuss character. She just learned how to ride a bike, and she spent the following three days asking again and again when she can go back out to experience the thrill and independence another time, because she knows how proud she made us, and she thrives on that. She has wanted a baby for a very long time and was very upset when we lost the baby. She asks often when we can adopt a baby and even promised she'll change some diapers!

Why We Chose Adoption

Both of us have always wanted to adopt, even before we met each other. We had planned to look into it one day, but that day came sooner than expected. We got married three years ago in August of 2017. We wanted to have a 3rd child so badly and just a month later Erin got pregnant. Unfortunately, it was a very rare form of ectopic pregnancy where the baby was in the part of the uterus that is just too close to the fallopian tube and Erin's uterus ruptured. Erin lost half her blood and almost died. The only way to stop the bleeding was to take Erin's uterus and left ovary. The recovery was excruciating, both physically and emotionally. Thankfully she is in perfect health now! Because of this, we tried for almost 2 years to adopt on our own. We wanted to build a relationship with the expecting mom, but we were unable to get matched. Now we're hoping to match through American Adoptions!

Our Extended Families

Disney with Grandma

George's parents just moved to a townhouse that's 30 minutes from ours, and George's aunt lives 20 minutes away. Erin's mom (Grandma) lives an hour away from us as well. All of them love spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren, and of course their children and son/daughter in law!

Hiking with Mom-Mom & Grandpa

We enjoy going to the shore with George's family to join his parents (Mom-Mom & Grandpa), brother, and cousins and their families. We play catch on the beach, play board games and card games, and enjoy eating together. We try to make several trips down to the beach every summer. At Christmas time, we have always have Christmas eve at George's parents’ house, Christmas morning at our house, Christmas afternoon at Erin's mom's house, and then Christmas evening at one of George's cousins' family's house.

The whole family is incredibly supportive of our adoption journey. With two adopted close cousins on George's side, the family is not only supportive, but has been offering encouragement and tips for a successful adoption.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We are very fortunate to have a spacious four-bedroom house in one of the top school districts in Pennsylvania. All of the teachers we've met have been caring, intelligent, and supportive of our daughters’ learning and growth, and we've had a chance to speak with both girls' principals and they were very down to earth and seemed to genuinely care about their education. The schools offer a wealth of extra-curricular activities.

Our Backyard

Our property has a large fenced-in backyard (that our dog Mango loves to run around in) including a swing-set and an in-ground pool. We have neighbors to one side with young children as well. We love to have them over in the summers to swim with us. Erin loves plants and has many plants throughout the house, some of which are special plants that our daughters have planted and named. We have a dedicated play room on the main floor, and we're in the process of finishing half of the basement to use it as a game room...hoping to get a Virtual Reality gaming system, which would easily make this our favorite room!

From Us to You

We are a loving, adventurous family looking to adopt a baby. We have always wanted to adopt and would love an open adoption, as we’d really like to develop a relationship with you. We want you to know that your baby will be loved and well cared-for and we want you to have a place in our hearts and lives as well. We know this is such a difficult decision to make, but we hope you will consider us as your baby's adoptive family.

We met almost 10 years ago at work and have two daughters; Annabelle, 8 and Kaitlyn, 14 (Kaitlyn is from Erin’s previous marriage). In 2015 Erin was a surrogate for a sweet family who couldn't carry and had lost a couple babies. It was such an amazing gift to be able to give someone. We got married in August, 2017 in Scotland and it was a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime trip. Our two daughters and our family were there to help celebrate and we were just ecstatic. After the wedding, we stayed in Europe for a short honeymoon and it was a dream! We wanted to have another baby as soon as possible and got pregnant right away. Unfortunately, it was a rare form of ectopic pregnancy that ended in a rupture and doctors having to remove her uterus and one ovary. We’ve both always wanted to adopt, and after trying on our own for a couple years with no luck, we’re now turning to American Adoptions!

Erin is a loving mother, generous person, nature lover and healer. She is a homebirth midwife, registered nurse and herbalist. She loves animals, volunteers at a couple shelters and by fostering kittens. Erin is active and loves being outdoors, especially with her family on hiking trips and nature walks. One of her passions is knitting and she has knitted so many sweaters and hats for our new baby! She is a passionate mother, longing to have another baby to shower with love!

George is a wonderful father who loves having fun with the girls. Playing with Legos, running around outside, reading to Annabelle and playing board games are his favorite ways to spend family time. He works from home often, so he gets to see his family more than most dads, which is very important to him. George enjoys traveling, reading and eating ethnic foods (especially Indian and Thai!). He cannot wait to be matched and welcome a new baby into our family!

We enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, traveling (we’ve taken our girls to Disney, on a cruise and Europe), we love trying new foods, especially ethnic foods, we go to parks often, play games and read to the kids every day. We can’t wait to share all of this with a new baby.

We plan to discuss adoption openly and from the moment we bring a baby home. We do not plan to keep it a secret and would love to have a relationship you from the beginning, so that he/she knows who they are. While we plan to send email updates, photographs and letters, we really hope to be able to visit you or have you here if that is something you are open to. We cannot wait to share our love, our home and our lives with this new precious baby, and we hope that we can get to know you as well!

Looking forward to this journey,

George & Erin
