Joe & Ashley
Our family is full of fun, adventure, and ready to grow! Every child is uniquely precious and deserving of love. We understand this is an extremely difficult decision and cannot fathom the hardship you're going through. We will provide your child with all of the love, attention, and opportunity that it could ever want. We can't thank you enough for considering us as potential parents for your child.
Why We Chose Adoption
After struggling with infertility for several years, we finally got pregnant with our son, Jack, from our third round of in vitro fertilization. It has been such a joy to watch him grow and learn. He has always been friendly, curious, and adventurous. He loves everyone he meets and treats them as if they were a member of our family. He loves books, (especially about dinosaurs), legos, riding his bike, swimming, and going to karate lessons.
We have always dreamt of having a family. After seven rounds of in vitro with one successful pregnancy and two miscarriages (one in the second trimester), we decided that carrying another baby just wasn't meant to be. We researched adoption off and on throughout our infertility journey and we feel that adoption is the path for us to complete our family.
From the time he could talk, Jack has asked when he will get a baby brother or sister to be his best friend. It was also very important to us that Jack have a sibling to grow up with. We have so much love in our hearts to give and we cannot wait to meet the newest member of our family!
Our Leisure Time
There is never a dull moment in our household! When we're not taking Jack to karate, we love taking him across the street to Dave & Buster's to play all of the fun arcade games. We spend our weekends hosting BBQ's, game nights, and family visits. We love entertaining. Although neither of us are huge sports fans, we do enjoy going to the occasional baseball game or hockey game. We love spending time outdoors as well. When the weather is nice, we enjoy taking walks and watching Jack ride his bike.
Ashley started woodworking during Joe's last deployment. So far, she has built some Christmas stocking holders, a headboard for our guest room, and a personalized table and chair for Jack. She has many more projects she can't wait to start.
Joe enjoys working out every day. He also has taken up cooking. He is always learning new methods of cooking and likes having Jack help.
We can't wait to share all of these things with our new addition to the family!
Although neither of us come from a culturally diverse family, we are excited to share in the experience of learning about our child's cultural background. We intend on teaching them about their heritage and background starting at a young age by incorporating books, movies, and toys that depict their race and cultural heritage. As they get older, we will educate them on racial history and the impacts it has made on our society today. We plan on taking them to museums, festivals, and other events that celebrate their heritage. Joe's work presents unique opportunities to surround himself with people from all different races, religions, and walks of life. We will strive to surround our child with people of the same racial background, to mentor and educate them in areas we may not fully understand.
We will always be open and willing to answer all questions and provide support to our child no matter what. Even though this child may look differently from our other child, we will love them all the same; with every fiber of our being.
Our House and Neighborhood
Some people may assume that the military life of moving around is stressful on the family. For us, we take advantage of the opportunities it can bring forth. Throughout the years we have experienced new places, taken adventures, and gained many new friends. Currently we reside in Kansas at a wonderful luxury apartment community with plenty of amenities. The apartment staff always hosts monthly activities like poolside catering, ice cream parties, and grab-n-go food and drinks for football games. There are many children residing in our apartment building who our son has befriended. While the weather was nice, our son Jack, would socialize with everyone at the pool. Because we are only here for one year, we downsized from our four bedroom home to a small apartment. The amenities, cleanliness, atmosphere, and view more than make up for the downsize.
One of the best things about our community is our location. We are close to all the shopping, restaurants, parks, and sporting events that anyone could ask for. The farthest we've traveled is 25 minutes to the zoo with little to no traffic.
When we move to our next duty location next year, we are looking to purchase a home with lots of space for the kids to play, a great backyard for hosting get togethers with our friends and a spare room for visits from our families. We can't wait to see what our next adventure brings!
Our Extended Families
Family has always been very important to us! Ashley grew up with her older brother and younger sister. Some of Ashley's fondest memories are going to the drive-in movies and going camping with her family. Her dad owns a small construction company and travels all over for work. Her mom stayed at home to raise her children but now works as an administrative assistant. Ashley's parents live in Oklahoma but visit us often. Even though we live in different states, we still manage to get together for the holidays. We enjoy playing games, going to the movies, and doing activities with Jack when we get together. Ashley's parents and siblings are beyond excited to welcome this child to spoil rotten.
Joe grew up in a small town in upstate New York with three younger sisters and his hard working parents. Joe's dad is a lieutenant in the village fire department and his mom works as fire police. His sisters are funny, hardworking, and exited to have a new niece or nephew. Even though we don't get to spend a lot of time with Joe's family due to their busy jobs and living so far away, we still manage to include them in our lives through phone calls, cards, and the occasional visit. Although Joe's family lives farther away, they're excited to meet this amazing child and share in the joys of life!
From Us to You
From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank you for taking the time to consider us as your child's adopted parents. We cannot imagine how difficult a decision this is for you and admire your courage for doing what's best for your child. We promise that your child will have a loving family, great home and bright future.
We began trying to grow our family since we got married in September of 2012. After a few years we had our wonderful son Jack from our third round of in vitro. We knew however, that we wanted to grow our family even more. We decided that adoption was the best possible choice for us to complete our family. We know adoption will be a wonderful experience and can't wait to share our family's love with your child.
As we said, we understand how hard this decision must be for you but would like to offer you some reassurance that we will give this child all of the love and opportunities he or she could ever need. While it might be difficult for Joe to take off of work to come and meet you, Ashley and our son Jack would be open to the possibility to a visit to ease your mind and provide you with all of the answers to the questions you may have about our life and what it would mean for your child to be a part of our family.
We've been together for ten years and married for eight of those wonderful years. We were blessed with our son Jack in February of 2016. We had no idea how much our hearts would grow! A child is the most precious gift in the world and we are beyond excited to welcome another child into our hearts and home. We believe that there is nothing more special than having a sibling that our son Jack can love, play, and grow up together creating wonderful memories.
Our family has a passion for travel and adventure. We have many opportunities to experience new places, meet new people, and share in different cultures. Even though our families live apart, they're very committed and stay involved in our and Jack's lives. No matter where we may move to, our families will always be there for support and to spend time together during the holidays. They are very excited in our adoption process and look forward to spoiling another grandchild.
We both believe that knowing where you come from is very important. That is why we are happy to share as much of your history as you desire with your child! We are so excited to send letters and pictures to you to show you how much your child is loved and how much he or she has grown. We will make certain that your child knows that you loved them so much that you were willing to let us give him or her the best life imaginable.
Thank you again for considering us as potential parents for your child. We have been dreaming about the day that we can expand our family and look forward to the amazing memories we will create with this child!
With all of our love,
Joe & Ashley
