Adoption in Our Lives

Family Fun

We have always known we wanted to be parents and even talked about it on our first date! After we had been married for a couple of years, we started trying to get pregnant naturally and were not successful. We then tried various fertility treatments but that did not lead to a pregnancy either. Though we could have continued with further treatments, we are ready to be parents and knew adoption was the right choice for us.

We welcomed our daughter, Maisy, into our family through adoption in 2022. Adopting our first child was such a wonderful blessing and a great experience for us. We had been dreaming and praying about having children together since early in our relationship, and now we can share our love and energy with our daughter. Our daughter has brought much fulfillment and meaning to our lives. Being a mother and father has been both a great blessing and a great responsibility. It means pouring love and teaching into our daughter so that she grows to become a caring, bright, and hard working person. We have had a lot of fun raising her and watching her grow, and we are excited to have the opportunity to expand our family once again through the blessing of adoption.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

New Zealand Fjords

Mike About Kelsey: Kelsey is a wonderful wife and mother. Her smile and positive attitude make it a joy to be with her. She helps to keep me from taking things too seriously! I admire Kelsey's dedication to the people in her life, her job, and her hobbies. She is a loving person and sees the best in people; she brings innovative ideas and optimism to her work; and she enjoys staying healthy by exercising and cooking healthy meals. It has been special to see Kelsey be a mom and share her love with our daughter. She is very nurturing and can calm Maisy down if she's sad but also is always thinking of fun new things to do on the weekends with her.

Kelsey About Mike: Mike is my best friend and favorite person! He is one of the most friendly, intelligent and energetic people I know. He would do anything for me and Maisy. If I'm having a bad day or stressed out about something he tries to cheer me up by trying to be funny or doing nice things for me. Mike is a hardworking person but at the same time truly values the importance of family and he always makes time to spend our family. Mike is a great dad, he can always make Maisy laugh by tickling and playing with her.

Favorite Vacation Spot

Arches National Park

Our passion for traveling was one of the main things we had in common and discussed a lot when we first met. Our favorite places to travel are national parks, both in the United States and other countries. We have a goal to visit every U.S. national park and are well on our way there! Our favorites are Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and Yosemite National Park. Our favorite international vacation spot is New Zealand, where we explored many of their beautiful parks. Travel to other international destinations has exposed us to various cultures, foods, and lifestyles.

We will very much enjoy traveling with our children to national parks around the country and spending time outside exploring and hiking with them. We believe being outside in nature is a healthy and fun way to both learn and relax. It is especially exciting to see wild animals in their natural habitat. We hope that traveling will instill curiosity, love of nature, and appreciation of other cultures in our children. During her first year, our daughter visited four national parks and did some big hikes with us in Utah. She really likes being outdoors in her hiking backpack.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a suburban Louisiana neighborhood within short driving distance to a large city. We live in a well-rated, diverse school district. Our street is quiet where kids can ride their bikes and scooters. We enjoy going for walks and running around the neighborhood, where there are often kids playing outside.

Our home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The family room, kitchen, and eating area are all open to one another which is our favorite aspect of the home. This open space is nice as it offers a lot of space for kids to play and we can still watch while we are in the kitchen. We also have an open backyard for kids to run around in.

Family is a very important part of our community and there are a lot of family friendly activities to do throughout the year. Music, food, and other festivals are an especially big part of the Louisiana culture and many have family-focused areas. There are also a lot of open areas and playgrounds in our city, as well as bike paths on lakes and the river. Warm winters allow us to experience year-round outdoor activity, making our community a great place to raise children.

Our Extended Families

Kelsey's Family

Kelsey grew up in a suburb in Minnesota with one younger brother. Her family still lives in Minnesota with her parents now retired to a lake home in northern Minnesota. Kelsey's family loves to get together at the lake in both summer and winter and do outdoor activities. We love to go boating, fishing, swimming in the lake in the summers and snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter with family.

Mike's Family

Mike grew up in Ohio as the oldest of three children. His parents, brother, and sister all still live in Ohio. When the family is together, we enjoy visiting parks and playing games. About every-other year, Mike's family vacations to the beach together which offers time for fun and relaxation. They continue to visit the same beach as they did when Mike was a child.

Although we live far away from our family we make an effort to visit our families throughout the year and our families come visit us too. They love coming to spend time at our house with Maisy and have been visiting even more often now that we have her. Both of our families are very excited about us adopting another child.

From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We know that this is a difficult process but we appreciate the opportunity to share more about ourselves. We have been very blessed with love, a wonderful family, and financial stability. We are excited to share all of our blessings and love with children.

We have known each other for ten years and have been married for eight. We adopted our daughter, Maisy, over a year ago. Becoming parents was one of the best things that ever happened to us. It is hard to put into words how grateful we are to Maisy's birthmother that she chose us to be her parents. It means so much to us that we get to raise Maisy and spend every day with her. She is the light of our life and we are constantly saying we are so lucky we are her parents.

We love spending time as a family and in fact do most things together. We love to be outside and go hiking, especially in picturesque locations like national parks. We also enjoy spending time at home, playing with Maisy, eating together as a family, or playing board games as a couple (which can get a bit competitive.) We are easy going people who would rather spend a night with each other or close friends than going out with a lot of people.

,p>We are each other's best friend and dream of bringing another child into our family. We are well balanced people who work hard but at the same time cherish and value family time. We will raise a child with this same balance. We will stress the importance of learning, something that both of us value. We also want to have fun, be outside, play, and interact with our child. We will be a constant loving presence in our child's life. We have many friends with children, so our child will have many friends and lots of playtime with other children.

Our families are well aware of our plans to adopt another child and are so excited for us. They will provide additional love and support to a child. Although we do not live close to our family, we visit each other throughout the year. Our child will have loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Maisy will be a great sibling, she loves other kids, is outgoing, and very interactive.

Growing our family through adoption is something we are very excited to do again. We have always known we have wanted to be parents and after being unable to have a biological child we are ready to become parents and know adoption is how we are to build our family. Adoption has brought our greatest desire, to be parents and raise children, to a reality.

We know this is a big and difficult decision. We plan to talk to our child about adoption from an early age. Adoption will be a welcome topic in our household. Conversations with our child will be open and honest and will stress the love that you, the birthmother, has for the child. We are committed, if you desire, to send letters, pictures, and updates to you so you can see how your child is doing. These letters and photos will share some of the experiences your child is going through as they grow and learn. We are also open to some future in-person visits with you and your child. We have an ongoing relationship with Maisy's birthmother which has been great for our family. Overall we are open to the adoption plan that you desire and want to make sure that you feel comfortable with the process.

We are happy that you are considering us as potential adoptive parents. You are doing something courageous and selfless out of love for your child, and you would be a giving us the best gift we could ever imagine. We will offer your child love, fun, happiness, and security and will cherish the gift of a child forever. We will be fully committed to our child and will love them unconditionally.

We truly thank you again for considering us for adoption of your child.

Sincerely,

Mike & Kelsey
