Jonathan & Ashley
Adoption has been a long-time dream for us. Our family is thankful for your interest and consideration. Having the opportunity to love and care for a baby is one that we cannot accomplish on our own. Our home and hearts are waiting for the moment that we can share our love with your child. We look forward to sharing this journey with you.
Why We Chose Adoption
While we have no children together, Ashley has a child from a previous marriage. When Jonathan and Ashley met, "JK" was instantly connected to Jonathan. John-Kendrick is now 15-years-old and has a very active athletic and social life. He is an accomplished baseball and basketball player. He has been invited to travel across the USA for multiple events in baseball, including All-American games in Arizona and Florida. He also enjoys talking sports and video games with his friends. He often volunteers in our community and helps coach younger children in our neighborhood during front yard baseball games. He also works frequently with a local volunteer fire department with work around the fire station.
We have struggled for years with infertility, specialists and medical treatments. We have prayed for many years to have a child of our own. We eventually gave up on the treatments and gave it to God. We trust that in His time, we will hopefully have an opportunity to see the desires of our hearts come true.
With your amazing gift to bring a child into this world, we want you to know that we are praying for you even now. Your gift will provide a family, whether it is ours or not, an incredible answer to prayers that they could never accomplish on our own.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Meet Ashley, by Jonathan: Ashley's parents met while her father was an umpire at a women's softball game. Her mother was up to bat and hit a grand slam. As soon as she crossed home plate, he asked her on a date, and the rest was history. They were married in only two months and have been married for 48 years now. Ashley is the athlete of the family who has competed in basketball, softball, track, and a beauty pageant or two. She is caring, loving, and fiercely dedicated to her family. She is beautiful inside and out and has a special place in her heart for children. She is a Sunday School teacher at our church and loves hosting neighborhood children in our home.
Meet Jonathan by Ashley: Jonathan is the oldest of seven kids, so he has lots of experience with children. Jonathan is the most caring, giving, and kind-hearted person that I have met. The night we met, I knew instantly God made him for me. He has made me a better person by knowing and loving him. Jonathan plays the organ/piano in our church as well as sings. Every time he gets up there I beam with pride! Whether we are thrift store shopping, trying out new restaurants, or just watching TV at home, I love spending time and doing life with him!
Our Family Traditions
We both come from very close-knit families that spend a lot of time together. Your child will be welcomed into a diverse and loving family full of older adults and very young children, lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, and loving grandparents. Some of our family is musically-inclined and we enjoy singing and playing instruments together. Other members of our family raise animals on their farm, including horses, cattle, goats, and chickens. We think that any child would love to be exposed to all of the animals and equipment to be found on the farm, and enjoy being raised outdoors among God's creation.
We also enjoy traveling; no matter the occasion we are always up for an adventure. In the past few years, we have traveled to Canada and Mexico multiple times and have visited over 20 states, and Washington, D.C., in the USA. Traveling lets us explore unique experiences like professional sporting events, historical locations, and find charm in every city we visit. One of the best traditions we enjoy is that we collect a Christmas ornament from every adventure we take and decorate a very special Christmas tree every year in our home. We trim the tree together remembering all of the memories that were made with each ornament.
Our House and Neighborhood
We live in a split-level home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and a large fenced-in backyard. Our home is quaint and always welcoming to neighborhood children that often play in our yard and congregate in the evenings after school. Our neighbors offer a wide range of people and personalities from older retired couples to younger couples with very small children. At all times of the day, you can find walkers, runners, parents with strollers, and families on golf carts traveling around and waving as they pass.
We enjoy hosting football parties in the fall for friends and family. We even have a local ice cream truck that serves our neighborhood in the summer months. We are only blocks from our local school that is top-rated in education and athletics in our state. We often attend sporting events and support our son at baseball and basketball games when he plays.
Our Extended Families
We both have families that are very close-knit. Our parents live within a 10-minute drive of our home and we enjoy a great support system of a close family as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jonathan comes from a blended family with multiple step-siblings. All are successful in their respective fields and all live nearby. Family meals and activities are normal weekly events and we enjoy our time together.
Ashley comes from a family with one brother, but her parents are part of our daily lives. We have four nieces and a nephew; while they live a distance away, we enjoy time with them as often as possible at sporting events and family celebrations.
Our family is incredibly supportive and excited about the prospect of a new child in our lives!
From Us to You
Although we do not know you yet, we can promise you are constantly on our minds and in our thoughts and prayers. We know that adoption is probably not the easiest choice that you have made, but we are thankful that you have made the decision to give your child life and a chance of an incredible future. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and hopefully how we can make this a reality for you and our family.
We have prayed for many years to have a child of our own. We have struggled for years with infertility, specialist, medical treatments, and multiple failed private adoptions. We eventually gave up and gave it all to God. There was nothing else that we could do, so we trusted that in His time, we would hopefully have an opportunity to see the desires of our heart come true. We firmly believe that God's timing is where our trust lies: "He has made everything beautiful in its time." -Ecclesiastes 3:11
Married for over nine years, we are deeply in love and devoted to each other. We love spending time and sharing our lives together. We can promise to love and care for your child by allowing them to grow in a home full of love, compassion, and understanding. Loving parents, a wonderful brother, and a loving family pet are all things that we can give your child the moment that we welcome them into our family. We will nurture your child's talents and interests and support them as they grow. Our home is warm and welcoming and always a center for family events and activities. We feel in this environment, your child will be given the foundation to grow successfully through their life, and someday share their values with their own family and children.
As they progress through life, they will experience celebrations, disappointments, love, marriage and personal accomplishments. Many of these events are created out of an environment that gives them comfort and support to pursue their dreams. It is our hope that we will be able to share these milestones and experiences with you through letters, emails, photos, and other means that you are comfortable with. Your child's success is not only a reason to celebrate in our own family, but for you also. The adoption journey is one that we are on together. If this is something that you willing to consider, then we look forward to being able to share the path forward with you.
The decisions that have led you to this point, we feel, are not by accident and we are excited to see that you are considering our family. God has already been at work in our lives, allowing us to find American Adoptions and have the opportunity to bring up a child in our home and in our hearts. With your amazing gift to bring a child into this world, we want you to know that we are praying for you even now. Your gift will provide a family, whether it is ours or not, an incredible answer to prayers that we could never accomplish on our own. Thank you again for letting us share our hearts.
