Why We Chose Adoption

Our Happy Family

We have a 5-year-old daughter named Etta. We're probably a little biased, but we think she is the kindest, most loving, social, smart, funny and the best friend a kid could have. One of her daycare teachers described her as "everyone's best friend." It's been so fun watching her grow up into this little adventurous girl. She loves swimming and going out on the paddle board. She loves doing nature scavenger hunts on our hikes. She also loves getting pampered with mani/pedis, haircuts, makeup, and getting fancy.

Big Sister!

Lacey had a difficult delivery with Etta. Because of the complications, we spent the next couple of years in and out of the hospital working on getting Lacey and Etta healthy. Now that we are in a spot where we've been able to put the medical issues behind us we are ready to move forward in expanding our family. We've always wanted to adopt to expand our family and our experiences have confirmed that adoption is what is right for us. We are absolutely overjoyed with the idea of being able to not only add another child to our family, we are excited about the prospect of adding you to our extended family through this adoption.

What Makes Us Unique

Mommy & Daughter Dress Up

We are a creative family. Lacey has an eye for fashion and interior design. Being a hair stylist she's able to use that creative energy with whoever is sitting in her salon chair. She loves decorating the house and is constantly looking at different design blogs and magazines and her vision boards are always being updated. She's always coming up with new crafts to do or new games to play with the family. Lacey likes to cook and loves coming up with different ways to get Andy to try new foods she doesn't think he'll like.

Music is Always Playing

Etta is the perfect mixture of both of us. Just as quick as she'll pick up a harmonica to join Andy in a jam session she'll put on her apron and join Lacey in the kitchen to do some cooking.

Andy is a musician. There's always music going on in the background whether it be mp3 or vinyl. He has a room dedicated to music where he keeps his guitars and drums and his recording setup allows him to continue to write and record songs. With the music always playing you can bet dance parties happen too.

We're also an active family. We enjoy going on bike rides, hiking, and swimming. Etta is always up for kids yoga.

Cultural Diversity

One of the things we love about where we live is the amount of cultural diversity. Living outside of a big city gives us real life exposure to other cultures and lifestyles. Our neighborhood is a great example of this as we have numerous multi-racial families on our block that we are friends with. Being in a neighborhood and community that is diverse we will make sure that the child is able to see other people that look like them in their daily life.

We believe that knowing your cultural roots will increase the child's strength and confidence. We will plan on integrating the child's birth culture into our family life by going to cultural events, restaurants, and by reading books reflecting different backgrounds.

Openness and honesty is key in our family. We believe that listening is just as important as talking. We will listen to the child express their emotions and experiences. We would also welcome the birth parents to provide their own cultural input.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a subdivision outside of a large city in Wisconsin. It's a younger neighborhood with lots of kids running around. Our daughter is a social butterfly and has lots of friends.

We like to get together with our friends at the park and let our kids run around. We are hands on parents that love having the neighborhood kids over to go on nature walks around the ponds, bike rides around town, and going sledding with us.

We have two parks within walking and biking distance with lots of open grass for the kids to run around. There are lots of trails around for hiking and biking. We're not far from our local splash pad where the kids can run around in the summer along with swimming and paddle boarding.

Every winter our neighborhood sponsors Candy Cane Lane, where we all walk around the subdivision looking at the decorated houses at Christmas time. The fire department sponsors a 4th of July bike parade in our neighborhood that ends with them opening up the fire hydrants and spraying the kids in the park. Halloween is a big deal with decorations and everyone trick or treating.

Our house is in a new subdivision that we built in 2018. It's a 4 bedroom, 3 bath modern ranch home with a white fenced in back yard. Lacey loves to decorate it with her mid-century modern style.

There's lots of diversity in our neighborhood which is important to us.

Our Extended Families

Family Christmas

We are lucky enough to live within 45 minutes of both extended families. This gives us the opportunity to spend a lot of time with them. When the weather is nice we like to go on bike rides, go on hikes, go paddle boarding, have picnics, visit the beach, or lounge around the yard with our inflatable pools. In the winter when it's a little more cold and snowy we like to go sledding, build snowmen, and go ice skating.

Grandma & Her Girls

'Meema' has a great imagination and will spend her entire visit playing whatever games our daughter Etta can think up. Lacey's dad has a boat, which is a great way to spend the hot summer days. Etta loves playing with her cousins and is excited that her aunt has a new baby coming.

Grandparents would also take Etta to her weekly music classes and would often drop in to watch her ballet lessons.

We love being able to get together with all the aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents for the holidays. Lacey comes from a large family, so the parties are always big with everyone laughing and playing games.

Our extended families are very excited about us growing and they can't wait to meet the newest member.

From Us to You

We cannot begin to imagine the emotions you're feeling or the decisions you are weighing; however, we can imagine providing your child with a loving, safe, and stable home.

Every day we imagine taking the child on bike rides around town, to the beach to swim and play in the sand, on hikes, to our neighborhood block parties, to their grandparents' homes, celebrating the holidays, to school every day, using our timeshare for vacations and traveling the world, graduations, weddings, and about a million other things. Our daughter talks about how she can't wait to have a brother or sister to play with and share her toys, all the things she's going to teach them, and how she'll even help with the dirty diapers (although she tends to plug her nose when talking about that last part).

We met in 2009 and married in 2012. We spent the first years of our relationship traveling nationally and internationally. Our timeshare has not only allowed us to travel all over, but it has allowed us to bring our friends and family with us to join in on the adventures. Our daughter Etta was born in 2015. We've loved being able to take her all over the country. We talked about a second child, but the time never seemed right. During the early parts of our relationship we talked about what our family would look like and our openness to adoption. During Lacey's delivery there were complications. Because of those complications we have decided that the best way to add on to our family is through adoption.

We want you to know that the child will grow up in a nurturing, caring, loving, and creative family. The child will be exposed to Lacey's love of crafting and design. She will give that child all the tools they want, and she will find ways to tap in to their creative side. Andy will be there to teach them all about music with instruments and enthusiasm to make as much noise as they can. Etta has an imagination like no one else. She will entertain her baby brother or sister for hours. We will ensure that the child is given the best chances in life to succeed. Your child will have a large support system of friends and family that will show love, care, and acceptance without bias or hesitation.

We would welcome an open adoption, but want to be respectful of your wishes. We will share your child's growth through photos, letters, and emails.

We will always speak highly of you by telling the child how much you love them and how much you as a birth mother have sacrificed by making the decision to move forward with an adoption plan.

There are a lot of unknowns in this world. Our hope is to take some of those away for you by loving your child as much as you do, by providing the best possible life we can for your child, and by making sure you are a part of your child's life.

We look forward to meeting you, learning more about you, and the hopes and dreams that you have for your child. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us.

Sincerely,

Andy & Lacey
