Kevin & Carrie

Thank you for taking the time to check us out! We are a couple that chose to adopt no matter what happened in life and we are finally here, writing this to you! We would be over the moon with joy should you choose us to become parents to your little one. This time in your life may be awful, or maybe you know what you need to do and are comfortable with your decision. Either way, we would love to offer our support should you want to meet us.

What Makes Us Unique

Our Mountain Wedding

We are unique in the fact that we are complete opposites ... some would say unlikely couple. We grew up in different parts of the country. Kevin grew up in Texas whereas Carrie was raised all the way up there in Wisconsin. Kevin loves country music and football. Carrie could go without country and will only watch football if someone makes the game interesting betting a small wager. Kevin loves chicken fried steak. Carrie still does not understand why chicken fried steak is called chicken fried steak. The differences between us also leaves us fascinated with each other. We get a kick out of one another. Neither of us finds the other one wrong in their likes or beliefs. We understand our differences and embrace them. We believe this will give our children the experience of viewing the world from two totally different viewpoints. That can be very important and no doubt entertaining.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Kevin About Carrie: Carrie has such a curiosity and care for plants, animals and people, so much so, that I cannot help but fall more in love with her as each day passes. Her love to photograph all the little things in life and craft at every opportunity she gets with whatever she finds laying around is constantly making me shake my head and chuckle.

Carrie About Kevin: Kevin continues to impress me with his knowledge about nearly everything from cars to plants to building a house. I have been moved to tears witnessing his love and support for his family during good and bad times. Simply said, I absolutely adore him!

We both admire the strong work ethic we each have. Above all, we make each other laugh ... hard. Sitting on the back porch, recapping the day and cracking each other up are our favorite times together. We probably are not at all funny to others but we sure do entertain each other!

What It Means to Become Parents

Our parents have taught us what it means to be good parents. We both come from remarkably loving, open minded parents. Parents who have supported us no matter what turn we took in our path in life. Parents who provided us with safe secure homes. Our Moms and Dads were our protectors and continue to be our advocates as we navigate through life. We know what unconditional love is and how important it is to raise a child knowing that love. They installed a level of confidence in us to get out in the world ... to experience life. Our hopes and dreams are to show our child the wonders of the world they live in and encourage them to try things. Embrace what they enjoy doing. There will be hard times, "peaks and valleys," a favorite phrase of Carrie's father. During these times, we will have our child's best interests at heart leading us to be his or her counselor as well as confidant. As hard as it will be, we understand there will be moments in which we will have to push our child to find his or her own route and we will have to stand back and accept that choice. We were given that freedom and understand how important that is for a child to grow and find his or herself.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We moved from Colorado to Tennessee a few years ago after buying a total fixer upper house that was built in 1936. It has been quite the adventure and there was a lot of work to do. Fortunately, we know what we are doing as we run a home renovation business. Our home is now exactly how we want it! Although we love our house, our favorite perk is the four acres of land we live on. We have a couple of mini goats that are fun, plenty of space to play yard games, garden, have bonfires, catch fireflies! All the good things in life.

As much as we love just hanging out at home, we do love getting out and experiencing what we have around us. We were pleasantly surprised at how kid friendly our community is. There is a big aquarium and Discovery World as well as a kids climbing gym just 10 minutes from us. One of the more unique features is this very cool water feature that winds around the aquarium designed for the kids to splash around in during the hot summer days. On top of that, year-round there are a number of festivals and markets, all with activities geared towards children. If we want to get out in the fresh air, there is a long river walk that wraps around the city. It’s a great place to walk, run, bike or have a nice picnic. There are a variety of little playgrounds sprinkled along the river walk for the kids to play on. We also like to get out for a hike and hang out at little watering holes we have found over the past couple of years. This all sounds like an advertising brochure our city would distribute but it's all true!

Our Extended Families

Carrie's Family

We are fortunate enough to have a good size extended family spread out all over the country. We take family vacations in Wisconsin, Texas, Colorado, Montana Tennessee and Florida. It is an absolute blast to get the whole family together. We now have a total of 11 nieces and nephews ranging from 2 years old to 21 years old. The most recent family trip we decided to invite both of our extended families out to a big VRBO home in Breckenridge, Colorado. It was awesome! All of the kids got along great! The families had so much fun together we have plans in the works to do it all over again next year.

Kevin's Family

We are also very thankful to have Carrie's brother, Michael, and his wife, Alex, and their little girl, Lily just 7 minutes down the road from our house. Lily is 2 ½ years old and loves coming over to play with our goats and dig in the garden. We are thrilled our child will grow up with his or her cousin just down the street!! Family is very important to us so having family close is a dream come true.

From Us to You

To be honest, this letter to you is the most difficult part of our adoption journey thus far. All other parts of the process were expected and laid out for us. But this letter to you, well, what do we say to the birth parents of our child? Fast forward 10 years down the line, reading these words to our child, what words could possibly illustrate the love we know is on the horizon? Do we use "awe" and "gratitude?" Awe in the strength you have to make such a difficult decision. Awe in the love you have for your child that you would come to such a selfless conclusion. Gratitude you are even just taking the time out to review our profile. Gratitude you are looking for the right home for your child. Yeah, although the first words that come to mind, those words seem typical and boring when trying to apply them to our actual feelings toward you.

It is also an understatement to say we cannot imagine how confusing this time may be for you. Should you want to meet us and choose us to adopt your child, we would be ecstatic to offer our support. We have no idea what that support may be. You may want to have as little as possible to do with us. We get that. You have to do you. This is one of the toughest decisions we can think of one has to make and we do not know what curve balls life has thrown at you. HOWEVER, if you want our support, we are there for you! We are all in this together ... we could help each other.

We promise to cherish and love your child with our hearts and souls. We promise to provide a safe and happy home for your child to grow up in. We promise to share every milestone if you will let us. We want our child to know you have seen every phase of his or her life. We want our child to know you were not denied the opportunity to see our child grow.

We are people who love every area of life and we want to share that with our children. Our kids will be exposed to all different types of entertainment as we were raised with and enjoy all different types of entertainment. If Mother Nature dishes out a rainy day, no problem! Board and card games, play dough and painting creations it is! Should the day turn out to be beautiful, the outdoor fun will be had! Building camp fires, hiking around, catching fire flies, playing yard games in our backyard!

Life is not always sunshine and rainbows ... we understand that. Unfortunately, we are not strangers to the tougher things in life. Fortunately, that makes us more equipped than some others to empathize and support our littles through the hard moments in life.

Lastly, of utmost importance, fact and truth that is not lost on us, this is our child. Yours and ours. Forever. Nothing will ever change that. Our child will know that.
