Nic & Kathy

There are not enough words to explain the selfless love called adoption - providing a family the priceless gift of parenting your child. We have been blessed with a child yet we have so much love and joy to share with another. We cannot express how grateful we are for the opportunity to be considered as the parents of your child.

Why We Chose Adoption

Ferris Wheel Fun in Chicago

Being a parent has been the greatest blessing in our lives. We are parents to one sweet, little boy, Nate, who is almost three years old. Watching him learn and grow has made us children again and we are seeing the world through his eyes of wonder. Raising Nate brought a love into our home we only imagined.

We always knew we wanted more than one child. We both grew up with a sibling, and we wanted to give Nate the opportunity to make memories with a brother or a sister and form the bond that is unique to siblings. After one year of trying to conceive again, we accepted the fact we would not be able to have another biological child. But we did not want the love we already had for a second child to go unfilled nor did we want Nate to grow up as an only child. We decided adoption was the perfect choice to grow our family.

We know bringing another child into our home is a huge responsibility, which we do not take lightly. We will love this child like our own, and promise to raise this child in an environment filled with love, grace and patience. We cannot wait for Nate and this child to laugh and play together, and to support each other in this crazy thing called life. As parents, we will be there no matter what, and will love this child completely and without abandon.

Our Lifestyle

Enjoying an Outdoor Concert

Nic works from home as a software engineer. During the work week, he often plays with Nate during his breaks and he is always around if Nate needs an extra hug or kiss. Kathy is a nurse supervisor for a hospice agency, and while most nurses work shifts, Kathy works Monday through Friday. We both have weekends and holidays off. Kathy's mom, Oma, lives in the finished basement and she watches Nate when we are working. Every week, Oma takes Nate to swim school and gymnastics. They spend a lot of time outside, exploring and learning about nature. When the weather is nice, Oma takes Nate to the zoo, aquarium or to one of the numerous playgrounds in the neighborhood.

We love to explore our surrounding area, whether it's going to a local alpaca farm or hiking in our favorite park. We enjoy going to Broadway shows and classical concerts. Our city has multiple museums and local festivals highlighting different cultures and traditions. We also enjoy a quiet evening at home, ordering pizza and playing games as a family.

Cultural Diversity

We live in a very diverse city with numerous communities of different ethnicities, cultures and race. Due to the diversity of our city, we will be able to find worthy role models for a child that may be of a different race or culture than us. We are very open-minded and accepting of other cultures. In fact, we have different races and nationalities in our family - Nic's sister is married to a wonderful man of Japanese and Hawaiian descent, Kathy's cousin is Bangladeshian and Kathy's mom is German. We also have close friends who are in biracial relationships and Nic grew up in an area of California with a strong Hispanic presence. Our dream is for our children to grow up in an environment that is inclusive to all races, ethnicities and cultures. We realize each child is unique and while we may not look like this child, we will love this child completely. Nic and Kathy promise to foster relationships for this child that celebrate the child's background, race or culture. We will learn about their heritage and incorporate it into our lifestyle, whether it's trying new recipes or adding another holiday to be celebrated. We look forward to integrating their story with ours.

Our House and Neighborhood

Snow for Christmas

We live in Ohio, where we are blessed to experience all four seasons! Our home is located in a safe neighborhood in the suburbs, in a charming community with a good school system. The community is supportive of growing families; many couples in our neighborhood have young children. There are numerous community events throughout the year. One of our favorites is when the fire truck comes around on Christmas Eve with Santa in tow! Our community has a library, parks and playgrounds within walking distance as well as a recreational center boasting a large indoor pool. We have a membership to the zoo and we live a few miles away from Lake Erie.

Our home has three bedrooms and a lovely finished basement which includes a playroom. We spend most of our time in the living room which has a fireplace and large window overlooking the front yard. We often see deer walking down the middle of the street during the fall and winter months! We have a sizeable backyard, home to a massive tree which provides ample shade and possibilities for exploring during the summer. When the weather is warm, we spend most of our time outside, whether it's riding our bikes through the neighborhood or playing in the backyard.

Our Extended Families

Family Christmas

Family is extremely important to us and we have incredible relationships with each member of our extended family. Kathy's mom, Oma, actually lives with us and is a huge part of Nate's life. She stays with Nate during the week while we work. Nic's parents split their time between California and Michigan and we see them 4 to 6 times a year, whether they come to us or we go to them. Kathy's dad lives just a few hours away and we see him every couple of months. We have huge get-togethers for birthdays and holidays which include members of both families. We each have a sibling who are raising young families as well. We can't wait for this child to meet their cousins! When we plan trips, we go to exciting places such as the ocean in sunny Cali, the Smoky Mountains at Gatlinburg and Disney World where we will meet our siblings and their families. This child will have many opportunities to travel and explore America while creating unforgettable memories with family. Our families are incredibly excited we are adopting and look forward to welcoming a new child with unconditional love and support.

Nate & Oma

From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our family, hopes and dreams. We can't imagine what you are going through and how difficult this decision is for you, however it's a beautiful thing you are considering, to bless a family with your child. We promise to love your child, and provide him or her a nurturing, safe home filled with love, laughter and grace.

We always planned on having multiple children and we believed we were on the right track after our son, Nate, was born. However, Kathy had complications during delivery and even after trying fertility treatments, it became apparent we would not be successful in having a second biological child. Even before we were married, we had discussed adoption as an option to grow our family. So it was only natural after we failed to conceive to begin the adoption process. We cannot wait to welcome your child into our home.

We have been together for ten years, married for eight years. Can you believe it, we met on eHarmony! Kathy was in nursing school and Nic was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina while he was in the Army. We have had our share of ups and downs, but through it all, we have stood by each other. We moved a couple times since we have been together, but we have been in our current community for nearly five years. Our love is forever and strong. We travel and look for exciting new experiences. We can't wait to take Nate and this child to Disney World, hiking in Vermont and exploring our national parks. We would be so incredibly humbled if you chose us to share these adventures with your child. Nate is a sweet and compassionate little boy who looks forward to being a big brother. He is excited whenever he sees a baby and he talks about giving the baby "a bottle" and "new diaper." Your child will have a sibling and will have the opportunity to make memories, share life experiences and form a bond with a lifelong companion.

We welcome whatever communication you feel comfortable with. We will send you letters and pictures with milestones and updates as your child grows. We can exchange emails as well. We are open to visits if desired and when the time is right. Your child will always know of your bravery and courage, and the sacrifice you made. We will tell him or her how much they are loved by you, and that we were chosen specifically by you to be their parents, and that is a gift we will forever treasure.

Thank you so much for contemplating adoption and considering us as future parents for your child. We have been looking forward to growing our family, and we cannot wait to welcome a child into our home. We promise to give your child the love, support, patience and guidance any child could hope for. We know this is not an easy decision and the road ahead will be tough. You are in our thoughts and prayers as you navigate this journey.

Sincerely,

Nic & Kathy
