Nate & Lindsey
Family is incredibly important to us, and we have been looking forward to building our own for many years. We believe that no matter your decision, you are courageous and selfless. We hope that you will consider us and we look forward to moving though this adoption with love, understanding, support, and empathy.
Our Leisure Time
Music holds a special place in our home. Both of us play instruments - Nate the guitar and Lindsey the piano - almost every day.
Lindsey is also an avid reader and loves craft projects. She looks forward to doing home art projects with a child.
Nate loves to sail and earned his captain's certification several years ago. We look forward to spending sunny days on the water with our family.
A few years ago we both learned how to ski, and now we go on short ski trips a few times a year. We look forward to playing in the snow with a little one, with snow tubing, snowball fights, and snow angels.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Travel is a big part of our family's life. We travel as a couple as well as with their siblings, nieces and nephews. It's the best opportunity to learn new things about the world along with the people we love!
We go on bigger trips at least once a year. Recently we travelled to New Zealand. On another trip we celebrated our anniversary in Miami. Between our big trips we have a couple regular excursions that we will take on a long weekend or short holidays.
Lindsey loves the beach. We spend many of the summer months at the Delaware beaches. We love the boardwalk food and taking our nieces and nephews to the arcade. Our puppy loves to dig holes in the sand to camp out in and we know he'd love to dig with a little one.
During the winter months we will go on road trips to West Virginia to go skiing. It's fun to watch the toddlers with hula hoops around their waist learning to ski. We can't wait to teach a new family member how to have fun in the snow.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Lindsey is an extremely open and accepting person. She is very slow to judgement and very quick to show compassion and empathy. We hope to be able to create a home that will give a developing child a sense of safety and acceptance. We think the healthiest environment will allow a child to explore and learn while also providing a familiar safe haven. Lindsey's welcoming personality and compassion will make any child feel like they are at home.
Nate has a curious and goofy personality. Any child in our house will always have a play pal between cousins, neighbors, goofy parents and hopefully future siblings. Nate will make for the best play pal, co-conspirator, coach and instructor for a little one.
Our House and Neighborhood
We grew up, and currently live on the Chesapeake Bay of Maryland. The area is sometimes referred to as "the land of pleasant living." It is a beautifully diverse area with access to city and county activities such as sailing and going to the theater. We often take road trips to the Delaware beaches during the summer, or to the West Virginia mountains to go skiing in the winter.
The home where we live now is in a very vibrant and safe neighborhood near other friends and family with children. We take several daily walks to the park - either for some fresh air, or to get a coffee or snack. The local park has a playground with recycled tire chips for pavement and a large xylophone that the children can play. They put up Christmas lights in the winter which always makes it feel like the holiday season.
Our Extended Families
Family is very important to the both of us. Our parents live close by and are excited to add more grandchildren to the family.
Lindsey has an older sister and a younger half-brother, while Nate is the oldest of three with a brother and sister. Both of Nate's siblings have young children who are excited for a new cousin. Lindsey's older sister has a son and daughter who will make excellent babysitters. Nate's sister lives very close - about a 20 minute drive away - and we see her and her husband frequently.
We often spend time with our families during the holidays, giving us the chance to see extended family. We also have started going on family trips with Nate's siblings. This year we're going skiing and all staying together in a cabin.
Both of our families are very excited and supportive of our adoption plan, as is our four-legged child, Yoda. He cannot wait to meet his new sibling!
From Us to You
We are grateful that you have taken the time to look through our profile and consider us, and we thank you for allowing us to share some of ourselves with you. We cannot imagine how difficult this decision must be, and we hold such great respect and admiration for you and your journey.
We met in high school nearly 20 years ago through drama club when Lindsey was a freshman and Nate was a sophomore. We were friends for a few years before we started dating. We dated throughout college and got married on October 31, 2011, in a courthouse ceremony at the ages of 24 and 25 respectively. While we didn't have much money then, we knew we wanted to be together. After getting married, we saved up to throw a wedding ceremony with friends and family three years later. We have grown up together, and over the years we have maintained a deep love and respect for each other.
Over the course of our relationship, we have always wanted to build a family together. While we have considered having biological children, we decided that expanding our family through adoption was the best option for us. Family is incredibly important to us, as well as providing a child with a warm and loving home. We love to travel, and we are excited to be able to provide a child with life experiences that will help them grow and reach their full potential.
We are so excited for the future. Many of our family members live close by, including our respective siblings and their children. Each of our families are very supportive of our decision to adopt and are excited to welcome another child into the family. We look forward to having a child who can play and spend time with our nieces and nephews.
We are so thankful for you, and we want you to know that we believe that what you are doing is courageous, selfless, and should be commended. As the years pass, we will share with you your child's experiences and growth through pictures and letters. We are also open to more contact, such as emails, phone calls, or visits if desired. We will always be open and honest with a child about adoption. We will ensure that your child knows who you are and how much you love and care for them. We will also be sure that they know that your decision was not made lightly, and that it is because of your love and care for them that you made this decision.
Thank you again for considering us as potential parents for your child. We are incredibly excited about building our family and have been looking forward to welcoming a child into our home for quite some time. We know that this is a difficult decision, but we want you to know that we will give all the love and support that a child could hope for. You will be in our thoughts as you move through this journey.
