Chance & Kelly
This season of our lives is the beginning of a new adventure. For you, you are embarking on a selfless and courageous journey. We believe that you are strong and what you are doing is brave and powerful. For us, we are hoping to expand our family with the joy of a new child. We will love your child unconditionally. We are grateful to you for taking the time to consider us. We appreciate you.
What Makes Us Unique
Our story begins back in college. Kelly and Chance met at the age of 18 and have been together ever since. During our years together we have traveled and lived all over the world. Traveling, exploring, and experiencing the world’s various cultures is a huge part of our lives. Our permanent residents have ranged from downtown cities to suburban areas. Most recently, we lived in Lima, Peru. During our time in Lima, we learned Spanish, experienced and became immersed in the Peruvian culture, and explored the beauty of South America. We were fortunate enough to see Machu Picchu in Peru, as well as travel to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Colombia. South America, especially Peru, provided the experience of a lifetime. We loved Peru, and did not want to leave, but we returned to the states in May 2020 due to the continual COVID-19 lockdowns.
When we returned to the states, we needed to be free of confined spaces, so we bought a RV and drove from Miami, Florida to San Diego, California, then turned around and continued our adventures to Disney, Oklahoma. We had the opportunity to see and explore the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the Gulf of Mexico, the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park in Utah, and everything else along the way. It was an unforgettable journey.
Why We Chose Adoption
We believe that adoption chose us. For years, prior to having Sullivan, we tried to have children. We went to doctors and specialists only to find that there was really no reason for our infertility. Sullivan arrived as a perfect surprise that no one was expecting, and we were over the moon to welcome him to our family. After having Sullivan, we immediately started to try expanding our family, only to come up with nothing. We tried In Vitro Fertilization. After the third failed attempt of IVF, we decided that we could no longer mentally, emotionally, and physically do another round. Time passed and we realized that we still really wanted to grow our family. Thoughts of adoption came to Kelly first and then to Chance. Both of us realized that it does not matter how a child is conceived or comes into this world, but that the child is welcomed into this world with love. A love that can come from multiple sets of parents all wanting the best for the child. A love that can be shown in different forms. Together we decided that adoption would be perfect for our family. Adoption has brought joy to so many lives and we are so overjoyed with excitement to have adoption be part of our journey.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Kelly About Chance: Kelly loves Chance’s passion, she admires his intelligence, and she respects him for being an equal partner in the relationship. For the past eighteen years, Chance has proven to be a true protector and confidant. He has always encouraged her to do what makes her happy and he is her biggest cheerleader. Throughout their years together, they have moved, changed jobs, and had their share of disappointments, but they have always come out stronger together.
Chance About Kelly: Chance loves Kelly’s independent spirit, he admires her patience, and he respects her for having the grace and faith to face challenges head-on to achieve her goals. For the past eighteen years, Kelly has provided unwavering support to Chance in every adventure they have embarked on. Kelly is truly Chance’s rock through all of life’s moments. Without her, Chance could only hope to be even half of who he is today.
Our Extended Families
We both come from large families. Kelly is the youngest of four children and Chance is the oldest of four. We are incredibly grateful to have most of our family members within driving distance and we take advantage of that by seeing those close to us as often as possible. Kelly’s mom lives down the road as well as one of her sisters and her family. There are always cousins to play with. From jumping on the trampoline to having dance parties, the cousins know how to have a good time.
Chance’s parents live on a lake so when we visit them, we swim, fish, take the boat out, and watch fireworks from the boat dock. This is also a perfect location for Chance’s brothers to visit with their families. We are lucky to meet up with Chance’s side of the family two or more times a year. We also love to travel with our family. From yearly ski trips to New Mexico to trips to California’s beautiful beaches, we can adventure with our family wherever we go. Traveling is a huge part of our lives and we love that we can share that with our families. We also believe that sharing these experiences together strengthens Sullivan’s bond with our extended family. Life is better with family.
Our House and Neighborhood
Though our weather might change from one minute to the next, there are so many aspects of our area that we fell in love with when we moved here from Lima, Peru. Our house sits on a golf course, so our views are spectacular. We are also able to enjoy the golf course (walking, taking Sullivan’s scooter out, golfing, sledding when it snows) when it is not too busy with golfers.
Our neighborhood has playgrounds, splash pads, a pool, and sidewalks on every street. We are very safe in our community and we love seeing kids riding their bikes and playing with their friends. The neighborhood is filled with diverse families who have children of all ages. One of Sullivan’s best friends lives two houses down, so we have playdates often.
We live in a two-story home that has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. We love the open floor plan, and we spend most of our time in the kitchen and living room. Our living room has large windows that provide views of our backyard and of the golf course. We love entertaining and this is the perfect house to host gatherings for friends and family.
From Us to You
We met 18 years ago and have been married for almost 11 years. During our time together we have traveled the world, changed jobs, lived abroad, learned a new language, welcomed a son, lost loved ones, grieved for the fact that we are unable to produce more biological children, and the list goes on. Our story makes us who we are, a combination of the good times and challenges, but we hope the next chapter of our story is a beautiful new beginning with the addition of a child.
Years ago, when we imagined growing our family, there was no doubt that it would be easy for us. No one in our family had ever dealt with infertility, so why would we? Time passed and we were not pregnant. Doctors were not able to give us specific answers and our frustration was growing. After the “we give up!” mentality hit, we miraculously became pregnant with our son, Sullivan. We felt hopeful and the world was right again. Sullivan brought immense joy to our lives. Once he was born, and we were completely smitten with this amazingly beautiful boy, we wanted to continue growing our family because we have so much more love to give. Years passed again, but this time there was no biological miracle.
Another biological child is not part of our future, but we know that there is still a miracle out there for us. A miracle that can come to us through the help of a courageous and selfless birth mother.
You are a special woman. You have been given the gift of life, and with that comes a huge amount of pressure. This is an incredibly difficult time for you but we are here to support you and provide this child with the best life that we are able to give. We want to assure you that we will work together to find the right amount of openness and contact that we all feel comfortable with. We will continue to share this child's growth and milestones with you. We look forward to building a relationship.
We promise to love and cherish this child with our hearts and souls and to provide a safe, happy home, and a life with every opportunity possible. This child is already loved more than we can write into words. He/she is joining a family with a nurturing mother, a present father, and an affectionate big brother. He/she will be surrounded by extended family that will support and care for him/her. This child will be provided with an education that extends beyond the classroom and will have opportunities to not only travel the world, but to become immersed in many diverse cultures. We believe the world is a magical place that is waiting to be explored.
We admire you for choosing life and the bravery it took to make this decision. Life not only for this child, but a new, fresh, and beautiful life that you have also built for us. Our lives are changing for the better and it is all thanks to you. We look forward to and are so excited for the day when we will meet this child for the first time. We will send monthly updates (either electronically or hard copy as per your request) which will include both photos and videos. The updates will include physical growth, doctors appointments, holiday and special events, as well as any other activity that arises. We would also like in-person visits once, possibly twice, a year. We are eternally grateful to you for the precious gift of life that you are entrusting us with in this new chapter of our adventure.
