What Makes Us Unique

Always Dancing

We are unique because of our colorful creative pasts and our unique journeys.

Kasandra was raised in Los Angeles, and her dad worked in the movie business. Kasandra always had a passion for acting, dancing, music, and theater. She worked in movies and TV, and was an extra in many well known movies and TV shows, before going on to become a high school English, yearbook, and journalism teacher (and to coach her school's quidditch team!). She's an excellent dancer and can dance many different styles, and is also a talented visual artist and writer.

Travis is an accomplished bass player and guitar player and has always had a passion for music, and for many years he worked in recording studios, had his own bands, made his own albums, got to go on tour a few times, and got to work with some well-known musicians before he decided to go to law school and become a lawyer.

We both majored in English in college, and we both love books and reading. We also both like tattoos and have quite a few! We love all different kinds of music--everything from reggae to new wave, country, hip-hop, oldies, and industrial music. We think that our quirky style and creative flair make us unique, and we are excited to share our passions for music, art, dance, and literature with our child!

Our Lifestyle

Canoeing on the River

Our lifestyle is pretty laid back and a lot of fun. We enjoy spending time at home, or at our families homes. We both feel comfort when we are here just being together, gardening, sitting in our yard, swaying on the hammock, sitting around the firepit, reading in a cozy nook, or watching a movie with some takeout!

When we are out, we prefer to do things that involve the arts and education such as festivals, concerts, cultural events, museums, art shows, open mic nights, animal sanctuaries, aquariums, and theater performances.

At the Magic Kingdom

Being in nature is also very important to us. Camping, walking barefoot in the grass, hiking or walking wilderness trails, and watching the stars at night are some of the ways we enjoy nature.

We really love to travel and see this beautiful world. Driving cross country has been the best experience for us to see things that we weren't expecting, and we plan on doing this with our child as well. Disney World is probably our favorite place to go to, and we will definitely be taking our child there as much as possible!

Overall, we are easy going, and don't usually rush through things. Enjoying each and every moment we are given is definitely the goal, no matter where we are or what we are doing.

Our Promise to You

We promise to always have a home that is filled with love, respect, and support. We want to make sure that our child is exposed to as much beauty and education that this world can offer. We will raise this child to be kind, loving, open-minded, strong, independent, and brave. We will always be there for comfort and advice, and we will never not be in their corner. Whatever path they choose in life is their own, and we will make sure they always know we love them unconditionally. We promise to provide for our family, and make sure that they have opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive in whatever ways they choose. Our family is our priority, always. You will always be an extension of our family, and our child will know that they were adopted because of the absolute love that you had for them and sacrifice that you made. We promise to make sure they know their culture and where they came from. We will continually educate ourselves so that we can better immerse our family in any and all things that will help them understand themselves better. Above all, our child will be so loved, and we will do our best as parents to protect them, educate them, and make sure their life is filled with adventure and happiness. Thank you so much.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a lovely and fun community in sunny Florida (not far from Disney World!) that is full of children and young families. Our neighborhood is big enough to have lots of kids of all ages, but small enough that people know each other. We are a short drive to the city, but our community is in a quiet area outside town. Our community has a big, resort-style pool, two cute little cafes, lots of playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, dog parks, lots of events for kids and families like movie nights and painting, bike paths, and a beautiful nature trail, and we often have deer, sandhill cranes, hawks, and other wildlife ranging around the neighborhood. Halloween here is the best! There are hundreds of trick or treaters, and all the families here set up tables outside in their driveways to hand out candy. We also have fireworks and a community gathering and picnic on the lawn on Independence Day and many beautiful Christmas lights on the houses (and a golf cart parade!) at Christmastime.

Neighborhood Halloween

Our home is large with four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and two stories. We also have an upstairs loft to make into a play room and a big back yard with room to play and with lovely pavers and a pergola that will eventually be covered in flowers! That is where we love to be the most. Kasandra has decorated the house in our unique, fun, and quirky style, and we love it here.

Our Extended Families

Hangout With Our Parents

Our families are the most important thing in our lives, and we are both blessed with wonderful parents and siblings with whom we are very close. Both of our families are small and close-knit: Kasandra has one sister, and Travis has one brother. Much of our family lives nearby. Kasandra's mom and her partner live less than a mile away, and we see them often, and Travis's whole family lives in the area (including his newborn nephew!) Both our moms are artists, and Travis's dad loves to garden and to cook (he's an expert at smoking meats!) We spend many nights at Travis's parents' house around their fireplace or swimming in their pool, just talking and relaxing. Kasandra and her mom love taking walks around our beautiful neighborhood. Kasandra's dad visits us often from out of town. He's very fun and outgoing, and his greatest passion is dancing! When he comes to town, we always go with him to a local swing dance. We also have a tiny fur-baby named Oscar. He's a mini-dachshund who became paralyzed in recent years, but he is very loving and playful. Our favorite family traditions are Kasandra's traditional family Christmas Eve, when the whole family comes over to our house and she makes artichokes and a special traditional Italian pasta, and our yearly anniversary dinner with family and friends at our favorite Spanish restaurant in town. Our families are very excited to welcome a child into their lives, just as we are!

From Us to You

We thank you so, so much for taking the time to look at our profile and for considering adoption for your child. You have our deepest respect and admiration for the selfless choice you are considering, and we promise that if you choose us, our child will always know about the strength, courage, and love their birth mother and birth family have for them. We promise that our child will always know about their history, their birth family history, and their cultural background. If our child's racial or ethnic background is different from ours, we will seek out ways we can help our child connect with others with similar backgrounds and do everything we can to always honor and celebrate that background.

We promise to send you pictures and letters and to teach our child about adoption and about the love their birth mother and birth family have for them. We will always teach our child that their birth mother is a hero! We believe that open adoption is best for children, and we promise to honor you through contact and communication, to show you that we are providing a good life for your child, and to provide opportunities for our child and their birth family to know each other, communicate, and connect. Choosing us would mean entrusting us with the greatest responsibility we have ever had, and we want you to know how seriously we take that incredible responsibility.

We have been married for almost three years, and we have been together for five years. We have always known that when we decided to expand our family, we would do so through adoption once we were settled enough to provide a good life for a child. We want you to know that we promise that if you choose us, we will always provide a loving home full of laughter and fun, and that we will place our family first. We will provide a fun and adventurous home, and we will always seek to grow our child's creativity, cultivate our child's passions and interests, and help them grow into the person they were meant to be. We promise to provide the best education we can and to give our child as many opportunities as we can to learn and grow and to explore the world. We will always support and provide for our child and teach our child kindness, generosity, patience, respect for life and for others, perseverance, and curiosity. We also promise always to do what we can to improve ourselves as people, partners, and parents and to never stop learning about ourselves and each other, even when times are hard. If you choose us, from then on, we will be Mom and Dad first and foremost, for the rest of our lives.

We promise that if you choose us, we will be the best parents that we can and that our child will be the center of our lives. Caring for and providing for our child will be the most important thing we have ever been entrusted to do. Your selflessness and courage will have made our dream of having a family come true, and you will have our gratitude and respect forever.

Sincerely,

Travis & Kasandra
