The first day of school is looking very different for a lot of families across the U.S. But that doesn’t we can’t celebrate the milestone with a photo contest!

To capture the unique feel of this year’s back-to-school rituals, we’re asking for your best photos — not just of children placed through our agency, but also of adoptive and birth parents who are going back to school, too. Whether you’ve got a Zoom setup or have stocked up on masks for in-person schooling, we’d love to see how your family has prepped for this unprecedented school year.

Here’s how to enter:

  1. Email your favorite back-to-school photo of you or your child(ren) to editors@americanadoptions.com. One photo per family, please!
  2. Title your email as “Photo Contest.”
  3. In the body of the email, please include your name, your children’s name(s) and ages. Example: John Smith, Age 2 – Parents: Robert and Jane Smith. You can also include a description of the photo, such as what grade the subject is entering.

Submissions are due at 5 p.m. CST on Thursday, Sept. 24.

Once all submissions have been received, the photos will be posted in an album on our Facebook page for you and all of your friends to vote on. Simply “like” your favorite photo to vote (you can vote for more than one!), but comments and shares will not be counted.

Voting will close at 5 p.m. CST on Thursday, Oct. 1. Winners will be announced the next day. Photos will also be featured on our Instagram page and in our American Adoptions newsletter.

We can’t wait to see all of your students. Good luck!
