Kerri and David's Adoption Story

Dear Future Parents,

If you are looking for evidence that miracles really do happen then please read our letter. In October of 2003 we did our application with American Adoptions. Almost exactly nine months later we received our most precious gift from God~ our daughter Madison. After we received all of the paperwork, we learned that the day we did our application was the day our birth mom found out that she was pregnant. As I sit here writing this letter, I am watching my beautiful daughter sleeping and I think to myself, "How could I have ever been afraid of us not finding each other?"

Something as sacred as our family, and someday soon your family, can only be captured in smiles and tears of joy, but can never be completely put into words. I remember thinking everyday, will we ever be matched? We had to step out in faith, knowing that God had the perfect baby out there for us... it was in His time not ours. I remember it like yesterday when Megan called us telling us that we had been matched. That was on June 21st. It was one of the most overwhelming and exciting days of our lives. We were so excited and tried to prepare for the day we would get the call saying that our birth mom was in labor. On July 18th, we got that call. I remember my heart pounding and then the tears started rolling down my cheeks. I remember thinking I am going to be a mommy today.... something that I had always dreamed of. When we got to the hospital we met our birth mom. She was such an amazing, sweet, and beautiful person. I remember hugging her and telling her thank you. We talked for a while and then she told us she thought it was time for us to meet our daughter. The first time that I saw Madison, I truly saw a glimpse of God. She was so perfect in every way. I still thank God for our birth mom on a daily basis and often wonder how she is doing.

We can't thank American Adoptions enough for the role that they played in bringing our family together. The adoption process is filled with questions, answers, stress, mystery, excitement, joy, and most of all love. It teaches you that you are stronger than you could have ever imagined. It also teaches you that life is much sweeter than you could have ever dreamed. We are anxiously awaiting our next journey with American Adoptions.
