| Anonymous | Posted: Jan 31, 2004 11:44:42 AM Misty, I was just checking this board out and was kind of disappointed that you did not get any replies to your post. I hope that you and your boyfriend have been able to get some answers somewhere. I am an adoptive mom of two children. We have an open adoption, which means we keep in touch with all extended birthfamily that wants to. We are pretty flexible with get togethers and phone and email are welcome any time. You need to find an adoptive couple who are truly looking for the same openness that you are or close to it anyway. We started with agreeing that we would definately get together 4 times a year and communication whenever. Then we build our relationship from there. We are a couple of hours away from each other so that is why it is at least 4 times a year. If they can get up this way all they have to do is call and make sure we are home. Good luck and if you have any questions let me know and I will try to help with them. We are not looking to adopt but would be happy to help you with any questions you have about adoption. Take Care Katrina | ||

| Rachel | Posted: Jan 31, 2004 01:10:26 AM Hello Misty! I gave a baby up in an open adoption more than four years ago. I recieve pictures and they even came to my wedding. I would have more contact with them, but I live in Michigan and they live in California. If you opt for an open adoption, you can choose your guidelines and conditions for the adoption. You will still have up to 72 hours after the baby is born to change your mine. (although, when you find the right parents, you will know) So, to answer your question better, if you chose a family that lives closer to you and set things up so you can have contact... then you will be able to see your "birthchild" pretty much when you need to...er, want to. | ||
| Misty | Posted: Dec 16, 2003 03:35:49 PM Me and my boyfriend know that we cannot take care and provide everything this baby needs but we dont want to just give it up and forget about it, we want our child to be apart of our lives and to know us and that we're the biological parents!!! | ||
