| Nichole | Posted: Sep 21, 2006 06:29:36 PM American Adoptions has an age limit and also an marriage requirement of at least 2 years... I was not told this until my husband and I got the paperwork. However, I called American Adoptions and spoke to Wade (AWESOME MAN!) and all I had to do was write a letter explaining our situation and why we want to adopt, and they made an exception for my husband and I. We will only be married a year Oct 15, and we are now activated and waiting.. so dont let that discourage you!!!!

| Terrie | Posted: Oct 30, 2005 01:45:37 AM Yes most agencies and states have some form of marriage length. some will take into account things like that a couple lived together for a period of time before marriage where others will not. Also if your wishing to adopt a healthy caucasion infant most agencies will require proof of infertility. If your looking to adopt a non caucasion infant or a child with special needs etc that will depend on whom your looking to work with as far as agency etc. Good Luck
Terrie , Most also have age limitations such as adult age. If your wanting a baby they will tell you that most birthmoms are in their early 20's with a few being in their late teens etc they are most likely to choose a family that is a bit older well established etc.

| Farrell | Posted: Sep 06, 2005 12:00:31 PM My fiancee and I are getting married and know that we are interested in adopting a child. My question is two-fold: 1) is there a requirement for length of marriage for adoption and 2) is there an age requirements (i.e. at least 21 or no older than 50) in the U.S.?
Thank you for any help.
