Home Study:
Supporting Documents

When you are completing the home study process with American Adoptions, you will put together a group of supporting documents to go with the home study report (example: birth certificates, marriage license, employment verification, etc). These documents are used to verify and support what is written in the home study.

When you receive your home study packet in the mail, you will find a detailed outline of all of these documents. However, there are some items on this list which you can get started on now; others will have to wait until you get your packet. If you would like a head start on collecting some of these documents, please print the checklist which goes with your state. You will give these documents to your home study worker at the time of the home visit.
