What it Means to be Parents

Happy Easter!

We believe we have so much to offer a child! And, additionally, we believe a child would be such a blessing to us as a family.

We were fortunate to have wonderful parents that modeled for us what it meant to be a good parent. Our parents were loving and kind. They showed us how to work hard, be disciplined and achieve our goals. They also set aside time for fun and laughter with our families and extended family. They taught us how to support each other and how to help each other in times of need. They also instilled their wisdom and life lessons to us as we grew and matured. It is our desire to continue this family legacy to the next generation!

We are grateful for the opportunity to explore adoption as a way to grow our family. We both enjoy teaching and learning and hope to instill a sense of wonder and exploration in our child. Steve enjoys mentoring his students, and Brooke is a piano teacher who loves teaching children of all ages. As parents, we would help our child to grow in a loving and nurturing environment so they can grow up to be the best person they can be. We look forward to the laughter, love and joy that a beautiful child will bring to our family!

How We Met

The Two of Us

We met at a young professionals event! We were fortunate to be a part of the same friend circle so we were able to get to know each other in a relaxed and comfortable way. We had wonderful outings with our friend group. We would often all eat out together, share fun stories and laugh together. We attended sporting events, music concerts and game nights as a group. We even attended the young professionals gala event together as a group! We still have a picture from the gala, and it is fun to think that we did not know at the time that years later we would be married. About a year later, we attended the same event only this time as a couple.

We also continue to maintain some of the same friendships from that group. We are so happy to be together and have so much in common, which makes for a wonderful friendship and strong marriage! We would love to grow our family and believe we would be great parents for a special baby to join our home.

Our Life Priorities

Tropical Views

As a couple we enjoy so many of the same things - hiking, biking, kayaking, eating out at new restaurants, cooking at home, game nights, spending time with family and friends, and traveling around the world!

Visiting the beach in the summer is a wonderful family tradition for us. It is refreshing and it helps us reset and appreciate our wonderful world.

Steve loves maps, so he is typically the one who plans adventures for us such as hiking mountain trails, riding on bike trails or taking day trips or weekend adventures. We enjoy long hikes with our hound dog, who loves to sniff and thinks he is the leader of our adventure!

We enjoy sitting on our back deck, listing to beautiful bird songs, and watching for wildlife. Our extended family enjoys fishing, so from time to time we will go on family fishing trips. We are both avid readers and enjoy attending music performances and festivals. We so much look forward to passing along these activities to our child and including them as we grow and explore together as a family!

Our Extended Families

Dinner with Family

We are fortunate to have both sets of parents, our siblings, and extended family within a few hours drive, and we greatly look forward to our visits with them! We consider ourselves explorers and are always looking for new adventures and visiting new places on weekend trips together. We especially enjoy hiking and biking with family through beautiful parts of our state. We also enjoy playing a variety of board games and yard games with friends and extended family. We also help each other with projects around the house.

Church with Relatives

We really enjoy making holidays special with our family! We celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Eve and Easter among other holidays. Home cooking and honoring family traditions is an important part of our family. For Thanksgiving, we often enjoy a large feast of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn souffle and pumpkin pie! For Christmas, we enjoy attending Christmas Eve church service and in the morning we exchange gifts and enjoy a tasty meal and Christmas cookies and conversation. As a family, we are fully present when we visit! We are unique because we are good listeners and fully engage in conversation and activities. We are a loving family that works together to share our joys, solve problems, and help carry each other’s burdens. Our family would be very accepting and loving of your child!

Our House and Neighborhood

The Front of Our Home

We are fortunate to live in a suburban community in the Northeast U.S. with many of the amenities of a larger city, but with the safety, neighborliness, and nearby nature you’d find in a small town. Our community has so many family friendly events including Christmas tree lightings, parades, festivals, and recreational activities. There are numerous competitive schools and school activities and clubs. There is a community calendar and something happening almost every week! Our community has extensive parks (2 within walking distance), bike paths and swimming pools, making it a wonderful community for children to grow up in. Our neighborhood has many children of various backgrounds and ages; we have a friend couple that has a newborn, and other nearby neighbors that have young children. We love our home, and we believe a child would as well! It is a cozy 4 bedroom home with a music room, dining room, kitchen, living room, garage and basement. We enjoy our music room which has a baby grand piano, keyboard, guitar, and violin. Our kitchen has a large island which is wonderful for cooking, and we eat our meals at our table together or on our back deck under the umbrella. We have a partially renovated basement in which we have a fitness and recreation area and a place for our dog. Our large back yard has plenty of space for playing sports, enjoying the sunshine, and toasting marshmallows over a fire pit. We love our home and neighborhood and can’t imagine being anywhere else!

From Us to You

We are honored to connect with you, the birth parents, as we pursue our goal of becoming adoptive parents.

We know that adoption may often be a challenging situation and understand that the journey to decide whether to place the child for adoption may be very difficult. We do not know all of the details of your story, but we do want you to know that we honor and respect your story. We thank you for entrusting us with this beautiful child and we pray that you find hope in the option of adoption. We hope that despite the challenges that may exist, a light will guide you on a path forward that shines brightly on the possibilities and positivity that can exist no matter how hard the situation.

We believe we are ready to become parents. It is an exciting thought for us to welcome a child into our home. We want you to know that the child will be in a safe and loving home and will be exposed to many opportunities and much joy and laughter. We will raise this child as our own and look to God for guidance as we walk through life together as a family. We both hope to instill in our child a love of learning, possibility and adventure. We will encourage reading, music lessons, sports activities and family time. And, most importantly we will encourage the child to pursue their interests and talents and to be confident to try new things! They will reside in an inclusive community with excellent schools, and a neighborhood full of children that we hope will become their friends. They will have opportunities to pursue their interests and dreams. We hope that as they grow, they know they are loved and cherished by both their adoptive parents and biological parents.

We met a decade ago, became friends and eventually started dating as we realized we had a lot in common and valued each other’s traits and camaraderie. We even noticed small details we had in common and realized we were such a great match! We were married in 2018 and blessed with the most wonderful wedding with friends and family in attendance. Our friends and family are our biggest supporters in life and they cheer us on through life’s ups and downs. We hope to cheer on our child as well and we will certainly welcome this little one into our family right along with our dog and our family and friends.

We have asked God’s guidance as we pursue the option of adoption. If you feel led to bless us with the life you have been given, we will do all we can to raise the child to know they are special and valuable to us, to you, and to God.

Through this young life, we automatically become connected. And as part of this connection, we look forward to sending you letters and pictures. We are grateful you for taking the time to learn about us, and we thank you again for your willingness to consider us as adoptive parents.
