How It Started
American Adoptions was founded by Ted, Susan and their son Scott, a family who understands both the heartbreak and the hope behind adoption.
After experiencing eight miscarriages and a stillbirth, Ted and Susan finally became parents through adoption. The joy of that experience inspired them to give back. For more than a decade, they fostered over 150 newborns and worked with an adoption agency to help other families experience the same happiness.
They later discovered that agency was acting unethically by taking donations to skip waitlists and withholding medical information from families, so Ted, Susan, and Scott spoke up. Their actions led the state of Kansas to shut that agency down, and in that moment, their new mission was born—
