We are deeply honored that you're considering adoption and grateful you are taking the time to learn about our family. Adoption has already beautifully shaped our lives through our son, Landon, and it has confirmed how much love and joy it brings to a family. Cultural Heritage

Dressed Up to Celebrate Lunar New Year in Hong Kong

Staying connected to our heritage while embracing and celebrating other cultures is something we value deeply as a family. Wilson was born in Hong Kong and proudly shares his Cantonese heritage through language, food, and traditions. We celebrate Lunar New Year, enjoy Chinese Hot Pot with family, and make regular trips to Hong Kong so our children can stay connected to his roots and extended family. Kaitlin's love of other cultures began through her study of Spanish and time living in Venezuela, where she became fluent in Spanish and developed a deep appreciation for cultural traditions and diverse perspectives.

Since welcoming Landon through adoption, we have become even more intentional about honoring each child's unique story and heritage. Landon's African American and Hispanic heritage are important parts of who he is, and we are committed to helping him grow up with a strong sense of pride and connection to his heritage. We read books that celebrate Landon's heritage, seek out cultural events and community connections, and make learning about his history a natural part of family life. We want him to grow up feeling proud of where he comes from and knowing that every part of his story is valued and celebrated.

As we grow our family through adoption, we are committed to learning about, honoring, and embracing the heritage of every child we welcome into our home. We believe our family is richer because of our different backgrounds, and we look forward to helping our children develop strong connections to both their family history and the broader world around them.

Why We Chose Adoption

Even before we got married, adoption was a dream we shared. After seeing close friends welcome adopted children into their families, we were inspired by the love and joy that adoption can bring. Our journey as parents began with our daughter, Harbour. She was born two months premature and although she is thriving today, consultations with medical experts led us to decide that having another biological child would carry significant risks. While that was a difficult reality to accept, it also felt like the right time to pursue the path we had always hoped would be part of our family's story.

That path led us to our son, Landon, and welcoming him into our family has been one of the greatest blessings of our lives. He has brought so much laughter, joy, and love into our home, and it is impossible to imagine our family without him. Watching Harbour become a big sister, seeing our extended family embrace him wholeheartedly, and building a relationship with his birth family have all reinforced how deeply meaningful adoption is to us. Parenting is the greatest joy in our lives, and we are excited to grow our family again through adoption. We feel our hearts, home, and family are ready to welcome another child with unconditional love.

Life Priorities

Celebrating Harbour's Birthday at the Crayola Experience

Growing and nurturing our children is the highest priority in our lives. We believe that one of the most important things we can do is help our children grow into kind, compassionate, and generous people. Because of that, we intentionally make decisions that prioritize family time, meaningful experiences, and opportunities to invest in their growth and development. One of our favorite daily traditions is sitting down together for dinner each evening. It gives us a chance to connect, share about our day, and enjoy one another's company. One of the sweetest parts of dinner is hearing our three-year-old son, Landon, eagerly ask everyone at the table, "How is your day?" Watching him learn to care about others and engage in conversation reminds us why these simple family moments matter so much.

We also want our children to learn generosity and compassion through everyday experiences. Our home has become a gathering place for neighborhood children, and we love that kids know they are welcome to stop by for a snack, a cup of water, or a break from playing outside. We hope these small acts of hospitality help our children see the importance of caring for others and creating a welcoming space for everyone. While life can be busy, we consistently choose to put family first because we believe the love, attention, and values we pour into our children today will shape the adults they become tomorrow.

Our Extended Families

Exploring San Francisco with Wilson's Parents

Our extended family is one of the greatest blessings in our lives, and they have embraced both of our children with so much love. Family gatherings are full of laughter, good food, and plenty of games. Whether we are playing cards, introducing relatives to Chinese Hot Pot, or spending summer afternoons swimming at Grammy and Grampy’s pool, time together is always joyful and meaningful.

Harbour and Landon Love Spending Time with Cousins

Kaitlin’s family lives just a few hours away, so we are able to see them often for birthdays and holidays. Our children especially love being with their cousins, who are always eager for sleepovers, crafts, and lots of play time. Wilson’s family lives farther away, but we stay very connected through regular visits, video calls, and family trips together. One of our children’s favorite memories was our recent trip to Hong Kong during Lunar New Year. They had sleepovers with Wilson’s parents, explored the busy markets, and loved watching the colorful Lion Dances together in the streets.

Our families have been incredibly supportive of our adoption journey from the very beginning. Watching them welcome Landon so naturally and wholeheartedly into our family has been such a gift. He is deeply loved by grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, and it has been beautiful to see how naturally he belongs in our family. We are excited for another child to grow up surrounded by the same love and strong sense of family.

Our House and Neighborhood

After Church Together

We live in a welcoming, family-friendly neighborhood in the suburb of a large city in Virginia. Our townhouse community is filled with young families, and we love how the close proximity brings people together. One of our favorite traditions is the annual 4th of July potluck, where neighbors gather to share food, stories, and laughter. It's a community where people look out for one another. We fondly remember last year's potluck, when neighbors took turns caring for a baby with special needs, giving his parents a much-needed break.

Home Sweet Home

Our three-bedroom townhouse has become a cozy home where we enjoy family time, especially in our dining room. Every night, we come together for dinner, often hosting friends and family, sharing meals, and playing board games. Behind our community, there's a soccer field where we often play with neighbors or we head to one of the nearby playgrounds. It's a wonderful place to grow up, and we're so excited to welcome a new little one into our loving home and supportive community.

From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to learn about our family and consider us as parents for your child. We cannot begin to imagine all the emotions and decisions that come with this journey, but we deeply admire your courage, love, and thoughtfulness in considering adoption. We hope this letter gives you a glimpse into who we are, the life we’ve built together, and the kind of family your child would grow up in.

Our story as a family has already been beautifully shaped by adoption. Welcoming our son, Landon, into our lives has been one of the greatest blessings we have ever experienced. From the very beginning, he fit so naturally into our family, as though he had always been meant to be with us. Watching Harbour become a big sister to him has been incredibly special. She adores him, teaches him, and makes him laugh constantly. Their bond has brought so much joy into our home.

What has meant even more to us is seeing how fully Landon has been embraced by our extended family. Grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles absolutely adore him. He is deeply woven into every family tradition, vacation, birthday celebration, and holiday gathering. Our families never make adoption feel like something that sets him apart it is simply part of our family’s story, and he is loved beyond measure. Because of this experience, we know with complete confidence that another child welcomed through adoption would fit naturally and seamlessly into our family as well.

One of the most important things we have learned through adoption is how valuable connection can be. We believe children benefit from knowing where they come from and understanding the love that surrounds every part of their story. We feel incredibly blessed to have an ongoing relationship with Landon’s birth family, and that connection has been such a gift to all of us. We visited them during spring break this year, and it was a beautiful reminder of how much love can exist within adoption. If you choose us, we want you to know that you will always be spoken of with love, gratitude, and respect in our home. We would welcome ongoing connection through letters, photos, calls, visits, or whatever feels comfortable to you over time.

Our relationship began in 2016, and we married in 2018. From the beginning, we built our marriage on faith, mutual respect, and a genuine love for one another. Coming from different cultural backgrounds has strengthened our relationship and taught us how to celebrate diversity, traditions, and new experiences together. Our home is filled with warmth, laughter, and intentional time together, whether we are playing games, traveling, or spending time with family and friends.

Faith is also central to our lives and shapes how we parent. We strive to create a home where our children feel cherished and unconditionally loved. We want our children to grow up knowing they are valued exactly as they are and encouraged to become who they were created to be. Adoption has strengthened these beliefs even more and has shown us how beautifully love can grow a family.

Thank you again for considering us. We know this decision comes from a place of profound love for your child, and we would never take that trust for granted. If you choose us, your child will grow up in a joyful, supportive family surrounded by love, encouragement, laughter, and strong relationships. We would be honored to welcome your child into our lives and to continue building a family story rooted in love.
