What Separates American Adoptions?

Choosing adoption to start or grow your family is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make. You want to ensure you have a trusted professional by your side throughout every step of the process.  When you choose an unlicensed professional or a smaller agency with limited resources, you are opening yourself up to various risks – which can end up costing you valuable time and money.

American Adoptions helps eliminate risks through the following benefits.

Shortest Wait Times

Whether you have known adoption was always your path or have had years of failed pregnancies and are deciding to explore adoption, nobody should have to wait longer than necessary to become parents.

One of the most significant contributing factors to increased or decreased wait times is the amount of marketing an agency does for hopeful adoptive families. When you choose adoption, in order to have a successful placement, a birth mother must select your family as the family she wants to place her baby with.

Women considering adoption view adoptive family profiles via websites, social media, and when their specialist sends them potential matches. The more visibility a family has, the better their chances of being matched with a birth mother.

Because we have more marketing reach than other leading agencies in the United States, you can have a lower average wait time.

Licensed Professionals

Adoption is truly a life-changing decision and process – a process full of steps, legalities, and emotions. American Adoptions is monitored and reviewed as a licensed agency to ensure all practices are honest and ethical. Our focus is on the overall experience for everyone involved, which is why many other agencies have come and gone, but we have continued to help create families for over 30 years.

Because not all agencies are licensed, some will promise the moon, knowing they cannot deliver even a fraction of what they have offered. Being licensed means American Adoptions follows every state’s laws and provides a truthful and reliable experience to everyone pursuing adoption with our agency.

Financial Protection

While nobody likes to think about it, unfortunately, adoption disruptions sometimes occur. If you choose the wrong agency, what is already an emotionally challenging time can quickly turn into a financially difficult situation as well.

We make sure that a disruption doesn’t drain your adoption budget by providing financial protection.

100% of families who adopt with our agency are financially protected if a disruption does occur. These families have the option to apply what they have already spent toward a new opportunity or to be refunded. Since 2009, this program has saved families more than $4.6 million.

You can move through your adoption with peace of mind knowing that your best interests are protected while we help you start or grow your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to retain our own attorney?

No, American Adoptions has established relationships with some of the best adoption attorneys in the nation. Because adoption laws vary from state to state and between counties, it is important to utilize the services of an adoption attorney who specializes in the state where the adoption will finalize, which is unknown until you match with an expectant mother. You have the right to retain your own attorney, but doing so may be an additional, unnecessary expense.

Can we choose the gender of our baby?

American Adoptions does not allow gender specificity in adoption. Any family who wishes to be gender-specific in their adoption should contact us at 1-800-ADOPTION and ask about the possibility of an exception waiver before taking any other steps toward adoption with our agency. Any families who do receive an exception to be gender-specific may also incur an additional fee, which helps cover the additional advertising costs of such a request.

Please note that gender specificity will likely increase your wait time significantly.
