Services We Offer

We believe you deserve complete support during your adoption from start to finish. That’s why we provide more comprehensive adoption services than other professionals — so that you can feel confident and secure in your adoption.

There’s a lot that goes into adoption. If you’re thinking about this journey as a way to start or grow your family, you’ll need a lot of support along the way.

Most professionals specialize in one aspect of the process — they might provide home studies, marketing services, or casework support. The difference with American Adoptions is that we can do it all.

We want you to experience the most comprehensive support that puts you in the position to have a successful adoption process. Because of our large staff size, decades of adoption experience, and high adoption success rates, you can have the adoption experience you deserve.

Adoption Services We Offer

Did You Know?

Many professionals have expiring contracts and require additional payments to continue pursuing adoption. American Adoptions is committed to your success, which is why our contracts never expire.

The Full-Service Program

First, adoptive families like you benefit from two key features:

  • Short, accurate wait times through industry-leading marketing and paid advertising.
  • Financial protection that keeps your adoption budget safe when an adoption opportunity doesn’t work out.

More marketing = shorter and more predictable wait times.

We know that’s an important factor for families considering adoption. We also understand that most families have a finite adoption budget.

Many other professionals work with expiring contracts or operate on a charge-as-you-go structure. Additionally, when an adoption doesn’t work out, you’re forced to repay fees to continue pursuing another opportunity. That eats into your adoption budget, resulting in families like you pausing to save more money or abandoning adoption altogether.

We never ask you to repay fees, and your contract never expires. Your success is our top priority, and our financial protection program ensures that your adoption budget is never at risk.

Because other professionals specialize in limited aspects of adoption, lower marketing, longer wait times, and a lack of financial protection aren’t the only risks you face. At some point, they will release you to figure out the rest on your own. That means navigating open adoption, coordinating legal services, figuring out how to legally pay expenses for the birth mother, and planning for the hospital time all on your own.

We don’t think this gives you the best adoption experience.

"Once we had our son, it was such a relief to know that the paperwork and legal aspects of the adoption were being handled by American Adoptions and we could just enjoy being new parents. We would recommend American Adoptions without reservations, and would work with them again in a heartbeat."

- Adoptive Mother Cassidy

Home Studies

There’s more than one way to complete an adoption, and we know our full-service program won’t be the perfect fit for everyone. Regardless of how you are adopting or which agency you are adopting with, we can complete your adoption home study in several states. Our home study services are more cost-effective than many other professionals. And if you live in one of these states, the home study we conduct for you can be used nationwide — no matter which state you are adopting from.

The Identified Program

An “identified” adoption, also known as an “independent” adoption, happens when hopeful adoptive parents and a prospective birth parent find each other on their own. This type of adoption can still benefit from adoption agency support when it comes to things like counseling, birth parent financial assistance, hospital time and finalization.

We have created a low-cost identified adoption program to ensure that anyone in this type of adoption can access the support and services they need. Through this program, you can get:

  • Birth parent support and counseling
  • Open adoption support
  • Case management services
  • Legal referrals
  • Escrow management for birth parent financial assistance
  • 24/7 support during hospital time
  • Guidance on finalization and beyond

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to retain our own attorney?

No, American Adoptions has established relationships with some of the best adoption attorneys in the nation. Because adoption laws vary from state to state and between counties, it is important to utilize the services of an adoption attorney who specializes in the state where the adoption will finalize, which is unknown until you match with an expectant mother. You have the right to retain your own attorney, but doing so may be an additional, unnecessary expense.

Can we choose the gender of our baby?

American Adoptions does not allow gender specificity in adoption. Any family who wishes to be gender-specific in their adoption should contact us at 1-800-ADOPTION and ask about the possibility of an exception waiver before taking any other steps toward adoption with our agency. Any families who do receive an exception to be gender-specific may also incur an additional fee, which helps cover the additional advertising costs of such a request.

Please note that gender specificity will likely increase your wait time significantly.
