Week 1
First Trimester

Figuring out your due date is done by working back to the first day of your last menstrual period. Since it is sometimes difficult to know exactly when conception occurred, the first day of your last menstrual period is the starting point for the next nine months. Therefore, the first week of your pregnancy is actually the week you started your last period. Most pregnancies last approximately 280 days, or 40 weeks.

It is important to note that a due date is simply an estimate. Only 1 in 20 women actually deliver on their due date.

What should I do?

If you are using drugs (even over-the-counter or prescription drugs), cigarettes, or alcohol you should stop taking them until you have had a chance to talk with a doctor.
