Week 2 First TrimesterWhat happens to me?
During the second week, estrogen triggers your uterus (as it has each month since you started menstruating) to form a lining of tissue. This also raises levels of the hormone progesterone and prepares the uterus to receive a fertilized egg. The lining of your uterus gets thicker as the egg prepares to be released from the end of your ovary into the fallopian tube that leads to your uterus. The ovaries ripen eggs in fluid-filled sacs called follicles and it is during this brief period that your body's preparation can result in conception once sperm meets the egg.
