Third TrimesterWhat happens to me?
As you begin to experience more and more Braxton-Hicks contractions you may begin to wonder more about labor and what it will be like. Most women are very concerned about the pain of labor. About 10% of women will say that labor was extremely painful; while another 10% feel they experienced little to no pain. The remaining 80% will experience some pain level between these two groups. Women who have taken childbirth classes tend to report less painful experiences and have fewer complications than women who have not.
Talk to your doctor or Adoption Specialist about locating a birthing class for you if you have not already done so. How much will I be showing?
Your uterus is now approximately 5 inches from your belly button. You have also probably gained 3-4 pounds this month. Gaining a pound a week is quite normal during the last trimester, as the baby will experience a final growth spurt before birth. What happens to baby?
The baby's arms, legs, and body continue to fill out and are finally proportional in size to its head. Most of the wrinkles may be disappearing from the baby's face, and there may be a lot of hair on the head.
You may notice the baby is not moving around as much. Do not worry, it is just running out of space in your uterus. Believe it or not, the baby still has plenty of growing to do, and will probably gain at least two more pounds before delivery. How big is the baby?
The baby has put on about 2 pounds of weight, mostly fat and muscle tissue, and now weighs about 4 pounds. The crown to rump length is approximately 11 ½ inches and head to toe measures nearly 18 inches. Tip of the Week
