Adoption Story - Tonya’s Scholarship essay

In the future I want to be a Registered Nurse and specialize in labor and delivery. I think it would be such an honor to be able to share that “special” moment with every mom and family.

When I was in labor and delivery, I had a very good experience. I was treated with courtesy and the respect I deserved. All of the nurses were very supportive of my decision and I thought that was awesome. One of the nurses came to my room, sat down and talked to me about adoption. She also let me know how great of a person I was for what I was doing. It’s not everyday that you come across someone who is willing to do that. These are just some of the reasons that helped me decide what career I wanted. I want to be able to give back what was given to me, and to show those moms out there that there are people willing to help them out and to encourage them they can do things when they think they can’t.

I have the personality and the excitement that is needed to succeed. I would be so thrilled to have the opportunity to meet my goals so I can show my gratitude and give to those women the same respect and courage I was given.
