Our Professional Lives

Hiking in Slovenia

We both love our professional lives and careers, and our dream is that your child will love his/her professional life and career as well.

When Shaula was growing up, her father told her that he was unable to help her go to college, therefore, she would have to work after high school. Shaula decided that she could do better; she joined the military, which later on helped her to finance her education. Shaula earned two graduate degrees: Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and Family Nurse Practitioner.

Yair was a Professor in Israel. Here in the U.S., he is working as a Scientist in the BioTech industry. In his research, he develops new technologies that allow for making new kinds of medicines for cancer treatment.

We will do our best to help your child develop skills that in the future will help him/her get the professional life he/she will aspire to have.

What Made Us Who We Are Today

At Disneyland

Like every person, what makes us who we are today is our experiences, the places we lived in, and the people we interacted with. We also believe that one should never forget where they came from, geographically and culturally.

Shaula was born to a poor family in the Philippines. When Shaula was 11, she immigrated with her parents to the U.S. By doing so, her parents gave her the opportunity to obtain a better life. Serving in the U.S. Army opened the doors for higher education, which allowed her later to become a professional nurse practitioner. Today, after 30 years in the U.S., her memory as a child from a poor family motivates her to help the underserved population as a nurse practitioner.

Yair has a different story. Yair was born in Israel to a middle-class family. His family always pushed him to excel in school, and then in the Israeli Defence Forces, and later in his studies at the university. In fact, Yair never planned to move to the U.S. However, when we met in Santa Barbara (California) during Yair's professional training there, we loved each other so much that Yair's move to the U.S. was inevitable.

As a result of our history, Shaula brings a lot of happiness and spontaneity to our relationship. Shaula is great with children, and she always strives to meet new people and see new places. Yair is the more "calculated" person, who tries to push Shaula to relax from time to time and focus on career development. We believe that each one us is a complete person, but together we are much more than the sum of us. We help each other to grow personally and professionally. We promise you that we will do the same for your child.

Our Pups, Moses & Maple

With Our Dogs

We have two lovable dogs: Moses (his nickname is Moshiko), and Maple. Since we currently have no kids, we treat them as our kids! For instance, they always join our hikes. When we go to restaurants, they get their own meals at the restaurant. They also sleep with us in our bed.

We truly believe that dogs are great for raising children. The children can learn how to be a responsible person when they are responsible for the dogs. Dogs provide a fun excuse for children to walk and play outside, which is great.

All and all, we love Moshiko and Maple. We are sure your child will learn to love them too!

Our House and Neighborhood

A View of Our Building

We live in a two-bedroom apartment in a wonderful community about 30 miles south of San Francisco in a technology rich region at the heart of the Silicon Valley.

Our Community Playground

Our neighborhood is safe and quiet. We are within walking distance to an elementary school. There are several hiking trails and green parks where we see children play every day. In addition, we have protected wild animals that naturally live around the neighborhood, like geese, ducks, and different breeds of birds. We also have swimming pools and beaches nearby.

The community is diverse, and many of the neighbors are young people with kids. The community offers many activities for children, such as summer camps, sports, art, science and much more. There are museums and theme parks, like Six Flags, which children love. All in all, our community is a great place for raising children.

Our Extended Families

With Shaula's Parents & Sister

We both come from loving, supportive families. Our family is very diverse and we have extended family across the globe.

Shaula is very close with her parents. She calls them practically every day, and she makes sure that they have all their needs met; from basic food to vacations in the Philippines.

When our family meets, we cook and eat a mixture of Filipino, Israeli and American food. For instance, every Saturday morning we make pancakes and scrambled eggs in Israeli and Filipino styles.

With Yair's Parents

Shaula is a Christian and Yair is Jewish. Although neither of us is particularly religious, we do practice many Christian and the Jewish traditions. For instance, we celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah, or Easter and Passover together.

Apart from our close family, we have Indian, Arab, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, and American friends. If you choose us, we believe that your child will get to experience a world where all races, religions and cultures mix peacefully with no racism and or prejudice.

From Us to You

First, we would like to thank you for taking the time and considering us as potential adoptive parents. We are sure that considering adoption is not an easy choice to make. We hope to share a bit about our lives together in this letter, and hopefully you can get to know us better.

We met in Oxnard, California 2014 in a sushi bar. We both found each others' smiles unforgettable, and then we both fell in love with each other from the first minute. Back then, Yair came for a three-year scientific project in U.S. The love that grew between us completely changed Yair's plans. Three years after we met, we got married in Santa Barbara, California, and since then we have been living together for six years.

We have two beautiful dogs, Moses and Maple, and we treat them as our kids. For instance, they join with us wherever we go, whether it be vacation or running errands, they never leave our sight.

As a couple, we love traveling the world and going to theme parks, such as Disney World. We love dining at different restaurants, watching theatrical shows, going to concerts, hiking, camping, walking along the beach, or simply watching movies together before we go to sleep. We also enjoy our time with our family. For instance, we never miss a birthday, and we love to celebrate the holidays together with our extended families.

As you may have guessed from our pictures, we are a biracial couple. Shaula was born in the Philippines, and she moved to the U.S. when she was 11. Yair was born in Israel, and he moved to the U.S. to live with Shaula. Together, we believe that we bring many experiences and cultures that we hope to share with your child.

One of our biggest dreams is to raise a child and grow our family. Though we feel blessed in many ways, we were not fortunate enough to have our own biological child. We experienced several failed pregnancy attempts, which put both of us under a lot of emotional stress during the last three years. Last year we decided that the only way to fulfill our dream is through adoption, and this is where you can come into our lives.

If you will choose us as the adoptive parents of your child, we promise you that we will love your child unconditionally. We promise to do everything in our power to provide your child everything he/she will need to become the best version of himself/herself.

Lastly, we want you to know that we will let YOU choose how to keep in touch with your child. We strongly believe that an open adoption is the best option for the child. So, unless you choose otherwise, we promise to send pictures as much as you want. We promise to send emails, and updates about your child. We will teach your child about your cultural heritage, and we will do everything we can to keep you in your child's life as much as you choose to.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

With love,

Yair & Shaula
