Our Leisure Time

Celebrating the Holidays at Walt Disney World

We love to travel! We both have flexible jobs with generous vacation days. We spend the majority of our vacations at Walt Disney World or on a Disney cruise. We love sharing our passion for Disney in the most magical place on earth. We look forward to watching a child's eyes light up when they see their favorite character or see the castle for the first time. It brings us both joy to think about all the magical memories we will get to make with a child.

When we are not at our home away from home (Walt Disney World), you can find us at home playing games with friends. We love to play all different types of board games, card games, video games, and arcade games. We get our friend's kids involved too! Last Christmas, we played several "Minute to Win it" games and the kids had so much fun completing the simple tasks as fast as they could.

At home, you can also find us watching movies in our home theater. We often host movie watching or premier parties at our house. We invite our family and friends to come enjoy the latest must-see movie or binge watch the latest Netflix show. We recently hosted a Barbie movie premiere party, where we had everyone dress up like their favorite Barbie and we ate only pink colored foods. Even some of the husbands got in on the fun and came dressed up as "dad bod" Ken.

Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other

Chad About Heather: Heather is one of the most thoughtful people I have ever met. I know Heather will be a great mother because of how deeply she cares for myself and others. I admire the way she takes care of the people in her life and always makes sure they know they're loved and needed. She's also a fantastic baker, wonderfully crafty, and a happy person. She always manages to put a smile on my face when I've had a bad day.

Heather About Chad: Chad is a fun-loving and funny person. He makes everyone around him feel at ease through humor, a helping hand, or just a shoulder to lean on. He is always the first person to volunteer when someone needs help. Chad wants to walk side by side with me through any struggle or hardship we face. Chad will be an amazing dad because he is selfless, thoughtful, and a hard worker at home and at work.

How We Met

Junior Prom

We met our junior year of high school. We had friends in common and knew of each other but Heather first started paying attention to Chad when she found him salsa dancing in the hallway with one of her friends. Heather realized that Chad would do just about anything to make someone laugh and she loves that about him. Afterwards, we both started spending more time together. When prom came around in April of 2006, we decided to go together.

It was an amazing night! We both danced and hung out with our friends. Our high school had a court yard in the center and we decided to go dance out there because it was really crowded on the dance floor. After about 5 minutes, it started raining. Our friends went inside but we decided we didn't care and danced in the rain until we were both soaking wet.

Later that evening, Heather was driving home and decided to ask Chad out on a date. When he said yes, Heather almost drove off the road, she was so excited. We dated all through the rest of high school and college. Then got married in 2012.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live at the end of a cul-de-sac in a large suburb of a major Midwestern city. We love our neighborhood because it is quiet, family friendly and is located within walking distance of the Elementary School, Junior High and High School.

Because our suburb is about 30 minutes away from a major city, there are so many activities for kids to enjoy. Such as museums, theme parks, playgrounds, lakes for fishing and camping, board game and arcade game cafes, performing arts centers, science centers, and so much more.

Our home has plenty of space for kids to play on the inside and outside. We live in a split-level home that we own. One of our favorite places to congregate is the kitchen, dining room, and living room. All 3 rooms are connected and we love to fantasize about watching children playing in the living room while we get dinner ready. The vaulted ceilings and lots of windows make the space a warm and cozy place to spend time together. We also spend lots of time in the movie theater room in our finished basement. We love to curl up and watch movies or play games on the projector screen. We often have Mario Cart tournaments with our family and friends. We also love to host movie watching parties and we look forward to sharing the movies we love with a child.

We are very close with our neighbors. Our neighborhood has a playground and pool that all the kids in the neighborhood love to enjoy. Every year our neighborhood has hay rides in the fall and Christmas Light strolls with cookies and hot chocolate in the winter. We look forward to snuggling up with a child and marveling at the beautiful Christmas decorations.

Our Extended Families

Georgia Aquarium With Our Moms

We are both very close with our families. Our moms live less than 5 miles from our house. Unfortunately, we have both lost our fathers and it has brought us even closer with both of our moms.

Heather & Her Mom at the Color Run

Chad's mom comes over every Wednesday to watch shows and eat dinner with us. We love to share our passions with her, whether it's a new Netflix show we discovered or a new craft we just finished. When we go on vacations, she takes care of our cats for us and even calls them her grandcats. She looks forward to spoiling a grandchild rotten and teaching them about her passions as an artist.

Heather's mom currently works out of state and spends all of her extra time coming back and forth to be with us. She loves to travel and goes with us on vacations at least once a year. However, the past couple of years we have gone on multiple vacations with her. Since becoming Disney Vacation Club members, she will often join us on our Disney vacations and cruises. She looks forward to showing this child the wonders of the world and sharing new cultures with the child.

From Us to You

We thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about us. First, we want to acknowledge your bravery and strength for facing the difficult decisions ahead. Your selfless love will not be forgotten. It will be a part of your child's story forever. We will teach this child about the difficult decisions, selflessness, and love that a mother has for her child when considering adoption. We hope this letter gives you better insight into our journey and the vision we have for your child.

Infertility has been a part of our journey to adoption. After we bought our first home, we tried to grow our family naturally. When that didn't work, we tried infertility treatments. After 1 unsuccessful round of IVF, we decided that adoption is the right fit to grow our family. From the beginning of our journey, we have always talked about adoption. It is something that we have kept in the back of our minds for almost a decade. Now that we are finally pursuing it, we feel content and happy with our decision.

We are both big believers that God has a plan for all, and we feel that adoption was His plan for us all along. Through open adoption, we can build a stronger relationship and create a foundation of love and understanding for this child. We look forward to facing the challenges and joys this process brings.

We want you to know that we will provide your child with every opportunity that life has to offer. We both work from home and are financially stable in order to provide for this child. We will unconditionally love and cherish your child, raise them with open hearts and open minds, and never let them lose sight of where they came from. We will teach, encourage, guide, share, challenge, cultivate creativity, spark imagination, and provide a warm and loving home for your child. We want to raise your child to be kind, selfless, confident, intelligent, empathetic, and independent. We will encourage them to be their best self and pursue their passions.

Adoption will always be something your child can be proud of. We will speak positively about you and encourage a relationship that both you and your child are comfortable with. We want the lines of communication to remain open for the child's life. We will share stories often and send pictures and videos via letters, emails, and text. We hope to put a picture of you in our nursery so that, from an early age, we can cultivate an environment of love and understanding.

Our promise to you is that we will always be grateful for your bravery and sacrifice in choosing us to parent your child.

With love and admiration,

Chad & Heather
