What it Means to Be Parents

Kris Being Silly with His Mom

Being parents means stepping into a world of endless discovery and joy, where we get to see life anew through our child's eyes. It's about guiding them, teaching them, and watching them grow into their own person. What we look forward to most is witnessing their firsts—their first words, steps, and every new thing they learn. From reading bedtime stories to exploring arts and crafts, to the simple daily routines like meal times and baths, each moment is precious.

We're excited to teach them, not just the basics, but also to encourage their curiosity in whatever interests them, whether it's music, sports, or the stars in the sky. Being there to support and nurture their dreams, whatever they may be, is what parenting is all about for us.

More than anything, we're looking forward to the laughter, the hugs, and even the challenges, knowing that each experience helps us grow together as a family. We can't wait to share our love and passions, and to learn from them too, as they show us the world through their eyes.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

A Stop Along Skyline Drive in the Smokey Mountains

Our favorite place to go on vacation is the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. We love the beautiful views and the chance to be close to nature. It's like stepping into a picture, with mountains that reach the sky and forests full of life.

Being there makes us feel calm and happy, reminding us how amazing the natural world is. We enjoy hiking on the trails, seeing waterfalls, and just sitting quietly, taking in the peaceful surroundings. It's a special place for us, where we can relax and forget about everything else for a while.

We think it's important to enjoy and respect nature, and the Smoky Mountains are the perfect spot for this. It's a place we always look forward to visiting, and we hope to share this love for the outdoors with our child, showing them the beauty of the world around us.

Cultural Heritage

Roasting the Traditional Pork on Christmas Eve

Our cultural heritage is a vibrant tapestry woven with the rich threads of our Cuban ancestry, thanks to our parents who came to the United States. Being born here, we've lived at the crossroads of our Cuban roots and the diverse cultures of America, creating a unique blend of traditions and values. One tradition close to our hearts is Noche Buena, a festive celebration of family, love, and togetherness. It's an evening where the aroma of roast pork fills the air, stories and laughter resonate, and the warmth of our family bond is felt strongest. This tradition, among others, showcases the importance of family, food, and joy in our Cuban heritage.

Our daily lives are sprinkled with cultural nuances that may not always be overtly recognized as Cuban but are inherent to who we are. From the heartfelt abrazos (hugs) we share, to the communal joy of meals, and the lively Cuban music that often plays in our home, our heritage is alive in everything we do. Speaking Spanish is another integral part of our heritage. It's a beautiful language that connects us to our roots and to each other. In raising a child, we look forward to creating a loving environment where both our Cuban heritage and their cultural background are celebrated.

Our Extended Families

With Noida's Family

In our family, the excitement is palpable as we prepare to welcome a new member with open arms and full hearts. Our parents, pillars of support and love, have been with us every step of the way, offering guidance and helping hands as we navigate the journey to grow our family through adoption. Rooted in our Cuban-American heritage, our families cherish the strong bonds that tie us together. Whether it's a holiday, a birthday, or simply because we enjoy each other's company, our gatherings are full of life, laughter, and, of course, delicious food. The kitchen and backyard become the heart of our celebrations, with Kris' dad, Marcos, reigning over the grill, and Kris' mom, Marie, delighting everyone with her array of desserts. At the dinner table, Noida's mom, Marlene, captivates us all with her animated storytelling, her vibrant spirit adding to the joy of our family time.

Kris's Parents

Though we're blessed that our parents living close by, ensuring their presence at our get-togethers, Kris' brother Danny, who lives in Colorado, keeps the connection strong through video calls, making sure he's part of the fun and never misses a beat.

Our family is unique not just in our celebrations but in our unity and the support we offer each other. This includes our shared excitement and collective support for our adoption journey. It's this foundation of love, joy, and togetherness that we can't wait to share with your child, offering them a place in our lively, loving family traditions and gatherings.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our home is in a wonderful part of South Florida, a place full of different cultures and people. It's a friendly area with lots of families, making it a perfect spot for raising kids. Everyone in our neighborhood is kind and helpful, creating a strong community feeling.

There’s a big park close by that's always buzzing with activities for families, from holiday events to fun daily happenings. And because we’re in South Florida, beautiful beaches, interesting museums, and exciting places like Disney World and Legoland are never too far away. There’s something special to do or explore almost every day.

Our house is cozy and welcoming, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It also has a lovely backyard that’s great for playing or relaxing. The Florida room is our favorite part of the house. It’s a bright and happy place where we have our computers, video games, and TV. It’s perfect for spending time together, enjoying each other’s company, and making lasting memories.

We dream of sharing our lives and all the fun things about our home and South Florida with a new family member. We imagine taking them to the park, exploring museums, and having beach days. Our neighborhood is not just a place to live; it's a place where a child can grow up surrounded by friends and a caring community.

From Us to You

As we sit down to write this letter, we're filled with a profound sense of hope and gratitude. Hope for the future we dream of as parents, and gratitude for you, for considering us as a loving home for your child. We understand this may be one of the hardest decisions you're facing, and we want you to know that your courage and love do not go unnoticed.

We have been together in a committed, loving marriage for 10 years, a partnership built on mutual respect, understanding, and shared dreams. One of our most cherished dreams has been to become parents and to share the boundless love we have with a child. Our journey to parenthood has led us to adoption, a path we've always held in our hearts as a beautiful way to build our family.

Our home is a place filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family and friends. It's in this home that we dream of raising your child, offering them a life of happiness, support, and endless opportunities. We believe in the power of education, the value of creativity, and the importance of understanding and respecting diverse cultures, including their own.

We promise to cherish and love your child unconditionally, to support them in every way possible, and to provide a safe and nurturing environment where they can grow and flourish. We look forward to sharing the joys of discovery with them, from the simple pleasures of nature walks in the Smoky Mountains to the excitement of learning new things every day.

We understand the importance of staying connected with you through this journey. We are committed to sending letters and pictures, sharing milestones and moments of joy, so you can see the impact of your loving decision in your child's life. We are open to more contact if you're comfortable, including emails, phone calls, and even visits, should you wish to do so. Our greatest wish is to foster a relationship that honors and respects your role in your child's life.

Becoming parents through adoption is not just about expanding our family; it's about weaving together stories, dreams, and hopes. It's about creating a future where love knows no bounds, and every child feels cherished and valued for who they are.

Choosing us to be your child's parents would mean the world to us. It would be the beginning of a new chapter filled with love, adventure, and the promise to give your child the very best of us. We invite you to join us on this journey, to connect our hearts and dreams for the beautiful future that lies ahead for your child.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering us. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming your child into our lives and hearts, promising a journey filled with love, support, and shared moments of happiness.

With all our love and respect,

Kris & Noida
