Jason & Sarah

We believe that family takes many forms, and we want you to be a part of ours. Adoption has been a part of our lives because Sarah was adopted and her experience has given us a wonderful example of how amazing this can be. We understand the choices you will need to make and will be there every step of the way. Know that, whether you choose us or not, we think you're amazing.

Sarah's Adoption Story

Adoption Is Already a Big Part of Our Lives

Sarah was adopted from Korea when she was almost three years old. A few years later, a brother was also adopted from the same agency and country.

I have had an amazing adoption journey. I was adopted into a loving family and have a brother who has shared in that adoption journey as well. I have had the opportunity to go to school, have a wonderful life, and a loving husband.

I also have the knowledge that my mother tried her best. She and my maternal grandmother kept me for as long as they could. I don't know what led to them to choose to put me up for adoption, but I think of them with love, respect, and gratitude. I am fully aware that I have much to be grateful for, and I will pray for them every day of my life. Their selfless act gave me hope, opportunity and an appreciation for everything I have. I sincerely hope that I can pass this along to my future child in the next adoption chapter of my life.

What It Means to Become Parents

Happy Together

As prospective parents, there are many things we are excited about with respect to the journey of parenthood. First and foremost, the unconditional love and deep emotional connection with our child will likely be the most cherished aspect. Watching them grow, develop, experience the world, and seeing it through their eyes will bring immense joy and fulfillment.

We look forward to nurturing their curiosity and witnessing their milestones, from their first steps to their educational achievements. Guiding them through life's challenges and successes, and imparting values, morals, and life lessons, will be incredibly rewarding.

We expect to find great joy in simple moments like bedtime stories, family outings, and cozy evenings together. We fully expect to share everyday experiences like rolling our eyes at Jason as he tells his third bad dad joke of the day. Giggling at Sarah as she burns another loaf of bread. Telling bedtime stories while cuddling with our dogs.

Along with the good, we also understand the challenges. There will be long nights, tantrums, challenging teen age years and more. Believe it or not, we look forward to those things too.

Ultimately, we look forward to the privilege of shaping a young life, providing love, guidance, and a supportive environment for our child to thrive. Parenthood promises to be a fulfilling and transformative journey filled with love, laughter, and growth, and these are the aspects we expect to like most about this incredible adventure.

Our Pets

Our two dogs, Dusty and Eddie, along with our three chickens, play indispensable roles in our life, contributing to our physical and emotional well-being while enriching our daily experiences. Dusty and Eddie, loyal and affectionate, provide unwavering companionship. Their wagging tails and eager faces greet us with boundless joy, alleviating stress and fostering a sense of security. They encourage regular exercise, keeping us active and healthy, while their presence inspires responsibility and empathy. And they're just a lot of fun to have around.

The chickens, though less conventional pets, offer their own unique charm. Their clucking and amusing antics entertain, often elicit laughter and brighten our day. Moreover, they contribute fresh eggs, enhancing our nutrition and promoting self-sufficiency.

Together, these pets help make our home a home. They teach valuable life lessons about patience, compassion, and routine, fostering personal growth. Dusty, Eddie and the chickens also foster connections within our family, promoting shared responsibilities and moments of bonding as we care for and cherish these beloved creatures. In summary, our pets are not just animals; they are family members who bring immeasurable joy, love and meaning to our lives.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in a ranch-style home on a couple of acres in Maryland. Our home has three bedrooms, with a full finished basement and a large fenced in yard with mature trees that our dogs and chickens run and play in. The highlight of the yard is a separate two-story barn that is used daily to hang out, entertain, and watch ball games. On the side of house is a vegetable garden and many fruit trees. We have caring neighbors that watch out for one another, and we are surrounded by neighborhoods full of kids, great schools, local town festivals, and community events. There are local state parks with hiking trails, lakes, ice cream stands, ball fields, and a petting farm and zoo a few miles away. Our town is within 30 mins of two major cities that offer culture, arts, music, concerts and sporting events. We are excited to take a child to the local Aquarium, Zoo, Science Center and much more.

Our Extended Families

With Family in Montana

Our families are fun, supportive and amazing. Jason's parents are retired and live in Arizona. We visit them often, and they make the trek to Maryland to see us as well. Our trips are filled with competitive golf games, Uno rounds that last for hours, good food, and Escape Rooms. Jason's mom loves to pass down family traditions and history and our house is full of family photos and memories. Jason's sister lives nearby and spends many weekends with us. Sarah is close with her dad, who lives nearby and is a frequent visitor. Her extended family live in Montana, where we often visit and spend time on the family cattle ranch along with her aunt, uncles, grandfather and cousins.

Jason's Parents

Both of our families are going to be overjoyed with the addition of a child in our home. This will be the first grandchild on both sides. This kid is going to be loved and the center of all their attention.

From Us to You

Wow, where to begin. We'll begin by saying that whether you choose us or not, you're amazing. We can only hope that you have someone in your life that tells you that every day. As mentioned in our profile, Sarah was adopted. There is no way to understand what her mother and grandmother went through while deciding to give her up for adoption. But we are grateful to them every day. We can only hope that wherever they are tonight, they feel that love and gratitude. This is what we hope to instill in this child. You are their parents, and our love and gratitude will be everlasting.

We have been married for 15 years and have been blessed in our professional lives. We now have the flexibility to make lifestyle decisions that are best for our family and will adapt our lives for the needs of a child. Your child will be loved and supported. This means that we will be at every ball game, dance recital, PTA meeting, Kazoo concert. Not only us but most of our extended family as well. This child will have a cheering section at every event of their lives. Did we mention that this will be the first and probably only grandchild on both sides of the family? I think you can imagine what absolute joy this is going to bring to our soon to be grandparents.

But being supported doesn't mean just being physically present. We are amazing listeners and will treat every emotional situation with empathy and understanding.

Don't let this give you the impression that this child is going to get away with everything. Structure, guidelines and discipline will be a major part of our lives. Our goal is to raise a child to be a good person. Do the right thing, be trustworthy, self-sufficient and morally sound. Our backgrounds have uniquely prepared us to support any child's goals and aspirations no matter what they are. If they want to be President of the United States or CEO of a company; Sarah has the background to guide them there. If they want to be a plumber or electrician; Jason has that handled with his engineering background. This child really can be anything they want to be.

A typical weekday in our house would be getting ready for school. Breakfast will involve a fresh egg from one of our chickens. Running around because the dogs won't come inside and has eaten something they weren't supposed to. Probably forgetting the lunch box and having to run back to deliver that. Running to some sort of activity after school. Eating a home cooked dinner while talking about our days. Our dogs Dusty and Eddie will be sitting underneath the table because someone will sneak them table food. Homework and working on some major project that we just found out about due tomorrow, then getting ready for bed. Reading a book and tucking a dog into their bed before turning out the lights.

Weekends would involve working in the garden and spending way too much time and energy growing one cucumber. Chasing the dogs around the yard, having friends over for a sleepover, going to the Aquarium, movie nights, listening to Jason tell his 10th bad dad joke of the week, listening to Sarah try to figure out why one of the dogs is wet and what we're going to cook for dinner this week.

Our lives will be this and so much more, and we want you to be a part of it.

We would love to send pictures and exchange emails. We leave it up to you whether you would like more contact than that. You are in the driver's seat.
