Our Cultural Heritage

At the San Francisco Symphony Hall

We are a multicultural family. We have Asian heritage. Some of our extended families are from different countries. We speak multiple languages at home and we can't wait to raise our children in a multi-lingual home! We celebrate both American and Asian holidays. We cook and eat American and Asian food. We think our heritage is a very important part of our lives. We plan to share all these wonderful traditions and cultures with our children so that they can build their own identity.

Our neighborhood and our friends reflect our identity, as well. Where we live is extremely diversified. Our local community consists of different races and ethnic backgrounds. Our circle of friends represent different nationalities and cultural groups. We celebrate diversity and inclusion. We believe we could provide an environment that our children feel welcomed and loved. They could be exposed to different types of learning opportunities and passions that translate to confidence and success.

Our Leisure Time

Gabe Playing Soccer

We are very easy going and down-to-earth people who enjoy every moment with our friends and families. We rarely say no to dinner invitations. We enjoy laughter and family style inside jokes.

We are very loyal and supportive to our basketball team Warriors. We went to their games a couple times a year. We enjoy the atmosphere every time we are there.

We are also foodies. We love to explore new restaurants. If we are not looking for a new menu, we stay home to try a new recipe, cuddle on the couch, watch movies on TV and enjoy the food that we cooked.

Gigi With Students in Japan

Gabe plays soccer. He sometimes joins tournaments or pick-up games after work. He also likes to play his violin. Believe it or not, he still goes to lessons. Depending on how much time he spares to practice, our house could be quite entertaining.

Gigi is passionate about social work. She always looks for volunteering opportunities. She helped out in the veteran support program. She taught elementary English in Japan. She still actively participates in different groups and events in our community. It makes our weekends meaningful and surprisingly fun.

Our Professional Lives

Gabe is a software engineer. He works for a high tech company based in the Bay Area. He spends most of his time in front of a computer reading and writing. Otherwise he would be in meetings with his coworkers. Like many other software engineers, his passion is to build a better and friendlier world. It takes a lot of patience and hard work but he loves his work.

Gigi is an administrative analyst. She manages projects for the local government. Although some seasons are busier than the others, she only goes to the office two days a week. We care about work/life balance. We have adopted the hybrid work-from-home schedule and our work hours are super flexible. At any time of the week, at least one of us could stay home if we wanted to.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We live in an amazing suburb in the Bay Area, California. It is safe, quiet and has beautiful tree lines. Our house is on a cul-de-sac road where there is little to no traffic. Our block has a lot of young families around us. Children and pets come out to play together. Our child will never lack playmates! Considering we had 200+ trick-or-treaters last Halloween, you can imagine our environment is incredibly family friendly.

Our community has many parks, children’s libraries, and a nice downtown area nearby. Being in the metropolitan area allows us easy access to museums, zoos, theme parks, and even beaches. The symphony, ballet and professional sports are also all around us. Fun activities are never far away!

Our neighborhood is very well known for its school district. Elementary and middle schools are within walking distance. All of them are of very high standards. We also have several colleges nearby which could provide many great educational opportunities for our child, should they choose to pursue college.

Our Extended Families

Gigi's Family

Our families are closely connected and we spend a lot of time together.

Gabe’s sister, Rhoda, lives about 10 miles away and Gigi’s sister, Bex and her husband, Josh, live a little further out, but they all visit very often. Rhoda was a preschool teacher. Bex and Josh are full-time social workers. They are all kind and caring.

Gabe's Family

Our parents come and spend the holiday seasons with us every year. We prepare traditional meals together and enjoy our time together.

We love to spend time with our family exploring the outdoors. Sometimes we hike a local trail nearby. Sometimes we drive up to Lake Tahoe or Yosemite to camp out for a long weekend. We also love traveling, too. International traveling is an annual family event. At times, our cousins and nephews would join us. It is not uncommon to have a big group traveling together.

From Us to You

Thank you for taking the time to read our stories. We hope this letter finds you well and full of confidence. We look forward to knowing more about you and having a good relationship with you.

We met in a wedding where Gigi’s cousin married Gabe’s best friend over a decade ago. It was an exciting but busy day. We both had our duties. Gigi was at the reception and Gabe was the designated driver for the newly wedded couple and we missed all the chances to talk to each other for the entire event. Many years later, we were reintroduced by the couple again and we caught up in a local coffee shop. Although the coffee wasn’t great (as matter of fact, the coffee from the little shop was pretty terrible!) we were captivated with each other from the very start. We were married in 2020.

We are a very down-to-earth and ordinary family that loves our lives, work and enjoy the times being with our family and friends. We live a very humble life. We have stable jobs and work very hard for our passions. We are a multicultural family who treasure family values a lot. Our extended families are big and noisy and we love every one of them no matter how distant they are. We are neither too religious nor political but we welcome diversity and inclusion. We think these mixture of characters give us a very unique position to provide nurturing elements to a child. We will teach our child by living examples of enthusiasm, critical thinking and a great character. Rest assured they will live a very happy life.

We love adventures. We love to explore and discover new things. Our child will be given opportunities to travel and see the world with us. As soon as they become old enough, they will join us with our hobbies like hiking, listening and playing music, soccer, chess, sports cars and all the fun stuff that we may run out of time to do. We hope they will find what they love to do in their childhood and grow to live a passionate and wholesome life.

If you have been reading our profile and letter up to here, we hope you are able to connect and build trust with us. Please know that we are also thinking of you. We are very excited about our future and you are a super significant part of us. We will share with you your child’s growth and experience through emails and letters. We will make arrangements to visit you when you feel comfortable. We will exchange updates as often as we can.

Thank you again for allowing us to share our hearts with you. We admire your courage. You will always have our love, respect and support. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Gabe & Gigi
