Week 28 Third TrimesterWhat happens to me?
If you have not discussed your labor and delivery plan with your doctor or Adoption Specialist, now is a good time to start.
Your breasts may leak a clear fluid (colostrums) now, although if they do not, this is not an indication that something is wrong. Also, any rhythmic movement you may be feeling may be due to a case of the hiccups by the baby. This is not only common this week, but throughout the pregnancy. These episodes usually only momentarily and it may only feel like a belly tickle.
Since your uterus is now up near your rib cage, you may find yourself short of breath. Starting now, and continuing through the last three months of pregnancy, you may be plagued by leg cramps, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, and/or an itchy belly. How much will I be showing?
Your uterus is approximately 3 ¼ inches from your belly button and your total weight gain is between 17 and 24 pounds. What happens to baby?
The baby’s eyes will open and close. The baby also sleeps and wakes at regular intervals. Some experts believe that babies begin to dream by the 28th week. The baby may also start to suck its thumb. Characteristic grooves and indentations on the brain's surface start to appear, and more brain tissue develops. Hair may also start to get longer on the head and eyebrows and eyelashes may be present. How big is the baby?
The baby now weighs about 2 ½ pounds. The crown to rump length of the baby is around 10 inches with the head to toe length at almost 16 inches. Tip of the Week
