Adoption in Ontario, CA

Ontario Adoption Agencies, Lawyers and More

For those who are hoping to adopt a child or who need to place a child for adoption in Ontario, Calif., it can be frustrating when you can’t find any Ontario-specific information, professionals or resources. Most of the information you’ve probably come across at this point are just general guides to the California adoption process, which will only get you so far.

That’s why we created this guide to the Ontario adoption process for prospective birth and adoptive families who might need it. Here’s everything you’ll need to get started:

Ontario Adoption Agencies

American Adoptions is one of the foremost national agencies in the U.S., and we’re pretty proud of what we do. We offer everything that prospective birth and adoptive parents need, from counseling to contact facilitation. We’d be happy to help you complete your Ontario adoption. Our national scope allows us to offer a number of outstanding services and benefits you won't find at many smaller, local agencies, including:

  • Free, 24/7 access to professional adoption services, information and support for women facing an unplanned pregnancy
  • Financial protection for hopeful adoptive parents in the event of an adoption disruption
  • Nationwide advertising and a greater number of adoption opportunities, giving prospective birth mothers more families to choose from and resulting in shorter wait times for adoptive families
  • And much more

American Adoptions' California offices are located less than an hour away from Ontario, in Los Angeles. So we’re uniquely-equipped to provide all of national-level services with the same local expertise and convenience you'd expect from a smaller, regional professional.

Ontario Adoption Attorneys

Prospective birth and adoptive parents will each need their own experienced Ontario adoption attorney to ensure equal advocacy throughout the required legal steps. When you work with American Adoptions, we’ll refer you to local legal counsel we’ve worked with and trust, so you don’t have to search for an attorney yourself or worry about coordinating with them.

However, if you’re working with a different agency for placement, you may need to find an outside attorney to complete those necessary legal processes. Here are some Ontario-area attorneys who may be able to help:

Ontario Home Study Providers

All adoptive families living in Ontario will need to complete a home study before they can be approved to adopt. The home study is an important screening tool that ensures children are being placed into safe and prepared homes, with families who are physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to welcome a child via adoption.

American Adoptions is a licensed home study provider in the state of California. We have streamlined the process to save you time and money – allowing you to focus on the next step of your adoption process. Follow this link to begin your home study and to learn more about the services we offer.

Ontario Foster Care Professionals

American Adoptions is only licensed to complete domestic private infant adoptions, so we’re unable to help with foster care placements. For this path to parenthood, you’ll need to work with an adoption agency in Ontario that is specifically licensed for foster care.

Here are some local organizations that should be able to help you foster or adopt through foster care in Ontario:

Ontario International Adoption Agencies

Again, American Adoptions is not licensed to complete anything other than private domestic infant adoptions, so we’re unable to complete placements across national borders. International adoptions are declining due to the complexities involved, but if you do wish to complete this type of adoption, you’ll need to work with an appropriately licensed agency in the area, like one of these professionals:

Ontario Hospitals

If you’re pregnant and creating an adoption plan, you’ll need to consider where you want to receive your medical care and where you want to deliver the baby. When you partner with American Adoptions, your birth parent specialist will guide you through your options and will support you as you choose what’s most comfortable for you.

Some nearby options you might consider include:

Ontario Courts

Local adoptive parents will spend several months after receiving placement of a child completing post-placement requirements. Only then can they legally finalize the adoption in San Bernardino County court. The adoption finalization hearing itself is short and simple. The judge will grant the final decree of adoption, and then any family and friends in attendance can take a photo to mark the special day.

Your Ontario adoption attorney will walk you through the process beforehand.
